Ymir is a slaver at Paradise Falls and father of Jotun. Ymir is 45 years old. He doesn't have a major role in Fallout 3. He walks and sits around inside Paradise Falls and does not reveal much when asked where he is from. He is equipped with Metal Armor and a Super Sledge.
Whenever you gained access to Paradise Falls without fighting your way in, Ymir often can be found when entering the 'food section' inside Paradise Falls. The first time going there, you will probably see him arguing with the bartender, which results in the bartender getting himself killed. Talking to Ymir while he is in the argument can result in Ymir just walking away after you finish the conversation. This keeps the bartender alive, however, there are no assets or drawbacks to either option. If you ask Ymir for his reasoning, he claims the bartender had been watering down drinks so as to encourage patrons to pay for more.
Killing Ymir will give you positive karma, just as will killing any other named slaver in Paradise Falls. However, this will make all slavers in the city hostile to the PC.
A conversation between Ymir and his son can occur, with Ymir praising his son (in his drunkeness) and hoping he will become the greatest slaver ever. Jotun becomes very embarrassed by this.

- In Norse mythology, Ymir was the founder of the race of frost giants and an important figure in Norse cosmology. Ymir's body was used to create Midgard, the earth at the center of Ginnungagap.
- There is a Ymir in Fallout 2 as well. That Ymir is one of the original members of the Unwashed Villagers seen in a Fallout 2 special encounter. Examining Ymir reveals that he is a poet from "down under" and a co-founding member of the Poetry Bastards.
- Norse mythology was founded by the peoples of Scandinavia, or Vikings, who would regularly go on pillaging trips to the East Coast of Great Britain. They would often bring back captured native Saxons to use as slaves.
