From The Vault
Yearning for Learning refers to an unmarked and repeatable quest in Fallout 3, given by Scribe Yearling at Arlington Library.
[edit] Repeatable Quest
- If you do not insult her she will offer to pay 100 caps and 10 XP per Pre-War Book given to her.
- Books that can be turned in have a value of 1, a green cover, and show a special "Book" icon, while Wolfgang's books have a value of 5, a blue cover, appear with the "Junk" icon in your inventory and are not accepted by Scribe Yearling. These "false" Pre-War Books can be found throughout the wasteland.
- If you somehow collect more than 100 Pre-War Books (using the console on PC or simply collecting every book in the game) and try to turn them in to Yearling, she gives you the corresponding number of caps (e.g. 11100) and XP, but takes only 99 Books. The rest is still in your inventory and you can turn them in as usual.
- Sometimes, Scribe Yearling will ask you how your search for the books is going, and when you are given the dialogue choices with her, you will not be able to give her your Pre-War books. (Confirmed on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC)
- PC users may be able to work around this bug by selecting Scribe Yearling in the console and typing "startconversation 14 FFDCArlingtonScribeYearlingGreeting1" (without quotes).
- Sometimes, Scribe Yearling will disappear from the library and won't be able to be found. This can be solved for PC users by using the 3 commands; "disable", "enable" and "moveto player". This bug may only be in the Xbox 360 and PC version of the game. (Confirmed on PS3)
