The wind farm was set up as an initiative of GDA Fusion, an energy company working to improve their reputation among government representatives vacationing on the Island following accusations that they were poisoning groundwater. An employee at the wind farm worked on researching sustainable energy solutions, eventually submitting a report to the corporation's board. Following a review, the wind farm was given two weeks to shut down after the board determined that investing into a rival industry to fusion energy was a waste of money.
A locked door is encountered shortly after entering the building and can only be opened by repairing the fuse box, located in the room to the right of the door with four industrial-grade fuses. All four of the fuses can be found on various shelves at the entrance of the building.

pc Sometime, if you enter the Wind Farm Maintenance building, put the fuses in place and without pushing the button to open the door you walk out of the building and walk back in again, the button will not work. A message will say: "This button isn't functioning." [verification needed]
