Wild Bill is a dead slave found in the Pitt's steelyard in 2277.

Background[]

Wild Bill and Milly were extremely close friends, having worked together in the mill for some time.[1] About a week before the Lone Wanderer’s arrival, the slaves were forced to choose someone to send to the steelyard to collect steel ingots.[1] Wild Bill, considerably more skilled than the rest of the slaves and armed with his personal handgun, volunteered for the task, not wanting to see any of his friends die when he would at least have a fighting chance.[1][Non-game 1] Although he managed to collect several ingots and warded off or eliminated several trogs with his handgun, the gunfire attracted the attention of wildmen operating in the area, who ultimately killed him before he was able to return to the mill. He managed to leave a note to Milly before the wildmen found him, apologizing to her and the others for not managing to complete the task.[2]

After Wild Bill’s disappearance, Milly became dedicated to finding out the whereabouts of her friend, though she cautions any volunteers to be careful, as Bill would have never forgiven himself if someone else got hurt while looking for him.[3] Upon being informed of his death, Milly is distraught at the news.[4]

Relationship[]

Wild Bill developed a keen relationship with a fellow slave Milly, as their time in the mill together was a sort of bonding experience.

Bugs[]

  • Playstation 3Playstation 3Playstation 3 Xbox 360Xbox 360 Bill seems to disappear if Milly is killed during the riot. [verified]
  • PCPC Playstation 3Playstation 3Playstation 3 Bill occasionally seems to disappear completely for no reason, possibly drifting through the wall or floor so he is no longer accessible. PC users can fix this by using the moveto player command, using Wild Bill's ref id. PS3 and Xbox players can also retrieve Wild Bill's Sidearm and other belongings by performing an out of map glitch to get to his body. Shown here on YouTube. [verified]
  • Playstation 3Playstation 3Playstation 3 Xbox 360Xbox 360 Depending on how Wild Bill's corpse falls through the wall/floor, you may still not be able to loot him even after using the out of map glitch. The quest should still be completable so long as his corpse is visible. If one can see him through the wall but are unable to loot him, try entering 3rd person, as this often makes him accessible. • Playstation 3Playstation 3Playstation 3 Xbox 360Xbox 360 Wild Bill might still not show up even after the map glitch, while one might find wildmen and trogs, Wild Bill is nowhere to be found. There is no known solution to this glitch, making obtaining his firearm and completing the quest impossible. [verified]
  • PCPC Playstation 3Playstation 3Playstation 3 Even after locating Wild Bill and retrieving the note, no dialogue options may appear with Milly explaining what happened to Bill, thus rendering the quest unable to be completed. [verified]
