"Wastelander" is a general term used for human and ghoul inhabitants of the Wasteland that covers most of the planet after the Great War, as opposed to people living in the more civilized post-war settlements.

[edit] Interactions with the player character
Wastelanders can be interacted in several ways. Some will not want to open dialog and tend to be rude while others are pleasant and are friendly to the Lone Wanderer. They may be found as captives of Super mutants or even as escaped slaves. Please refer to the random encounters page for a complete listing of the various encounters.
[edit] Quotes
- General
- "What's the matter, huh? Can't stand the sight of your own blood!" (Upon attacking a hostile character or creature)
- "Where?"
- "Over here!"
- "I guess it was nothing" (When they have lost sight of the hostile character)
- "Phew, glad that's over" (After a battle)
- "Well, that's the end of that" (After a battle)
- "You like that, you bastard?!" (Upon attacking a hostile character or creature)
- "I'm hit!" (After being attacked)
- "This is hopeless!" (Realizing they have no chance to win and try to escape)
- "You can't just take that!" (After being caught pickpocketing them)
- "I don't know you, you don't know me, lets keep it that way"
- "Jesus, you really can't take a hint"
- "let me be blunt. Go away."
[edit] Appearances
Wastelander as an in-game name for generic NPCs only appears in Fallout 3, although the word "wastelander" itself is also used in Fallout 2 and characters that can be considered "wastelanders" appear throughout the series.
[edit] Notes
- Sometimes large groups of ghoul wastelanders with regular human dialogue lines will appear fighting their Enclave captors.
- Wastelanders can have extremely varied dialogue greetings from nice to mean, such as one saying "Good to see you!" when you near them and then saying something like "Let me be blunt: go away." when you "activate" them.
