Wasteland doctors which are sometimes referred to as Wasteland Sawbones, can be found wandering the wasteland during a random encounter in 2277. They can provide basic medical services to the player for a fee.

• Meeting a wasteland doctor is a repeatable random encounter which can occur in multiple locations. The character is a randomly generated wastelander, can be male or female, and can have a different appearance each time encountered. He/she disappears only if enslaved or killed.
• Unlike most other 'Type A' random encounters, the wasteland doctor will wander away from the location in which they spawn. This often results in the doctor being difficult to locate after initially encountering them.
• Due to being poorly armed and armored, they are often killed by wasteland creatures while wandering.
