Waste not, want not. When you use Energy Weapons, you are more likely to recover drained ammunition. You also have more efficient recycling recipes available at the wasteland's workbenches.— In-game description

Vigilant Recycler is a perk in Fallout: New Vegas.

Effects[]

Taking this perk grants an increase to the chance of recovering drained cells when using energy weapons as well as improves the conversion ratio from 4:1 to 3:1 when recycling them into new ammo at a workbench.

Notes[]

  • Gun Runners' Arsenal With the Gun Runners' Arsenal add-on, the perk unlocks crafting recipes for "optimized" variants of every ammo type: (ECP, MFC, SEC, and flamer fuel). Optimized ammo is more powerful than overcharged ammo and has the same DT reduction while putting less strain on the weapon and weighing less, both having the same ammo conversion rate.
  • Crafting new types of energy ammunition does not require any ingredients other than the standard ammo types.
  • Most of the recipes given by this perk have a Science requirement between 30 to 65, but one needs a Science skill of 70 to take the perk itself.

Behind the scenes[]

In the perk description, "Waste not, want not" refers to the original quote attributed to Benjamin Franklin, who was noted for his frugality.
