From The Vault
Vault 43 was one of the Vaults created by Vault-Tec, and part of the Vault Experiment. Only 20 men, 10 women and one panther entered this Vault. Any other Vault defects are unknown. Its location is unknown. Vault 43 probably survived by killing the panther, though other possible outcomes might have occurred, such as: the panther killing off the entire population of the vault, the panther killing a percentage of the vault (Possibly getting killed as well). The last outcome is the most probable.

Vault 43 appears only in the official Fallout 3 One Man, and a Crate of Puppets, written by Jerry Holkins and illustrated by Mike Krahulik (Penny Arcade), in cooperation with Emil Pagliarulo.
