[edit] Alien Food
Well... the fact that they are made into food doesn't change their place as creatures in Fallout universe, so I think at least links to them at Creatures template should remain. The template contains even "unofficial" creatures from Fallout 3 artbook. Master Mold 19:35, October 31, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Help?
The armor table at Fallout 3 unique armor and clothing was built with a <br /> thing in the Prototype Medic Power Armor section, and removing it breaks the table. Is there any way to get it out? Nitty 02:49, October 15, 2009 (UTC)
Ah, thanks! Nitty 21:01, October 15, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks Porter for helping me out
I just wanted to take the time to write and say thanks for editing and sorting things out. (mainly on My Home/Talk page etc.) I really appreciate it :) PS3demon 16:32, October 15, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Pictures of Clothing/Armor
Do you think that for the clothing and armor articles there should be both a picture with a male character wearing whatever it is and a female character wearing it? Insincerity 20:57, October 17, 2009 (UTC)
My own two cents is only if there in noticeable difference beyond a slight change to account for breasts. For most armors the only real change is on females its changed to have more chest room. I don't think that is enough to warrant different pictures. However raider armor and a few others have noticeable differences beyond cup size so pictures with both genders may be fair in that capacity.--LordVukodlak 18:25, October 22, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Characters
For characters, I'd keep all of them in the game's main NPC category too. Ausir(talk) 07:07, October 18, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Background sections in overview articles
I like this solution myself, and I'm not fond of using just "see: Laser Pistol" instead. How about explanation/instruction about how to use this feature added as a comment for those who try to edit it in the game-specific article? Ausir(talk) 01:00, October 19, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Create article pages
Well, the point of having a tabbed create article page for each game was that each started out with the tab for a given game opened. So I wouldn't redirect them all to The Vault:Create article. Ausir(talk) 12:16, October 19, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Back to editing
Hey, hope you remember me.
I'm the admin over at The VaultNO. I just returned to Fallout (I've been staying completely away from everything Fallout-related since the summer, awaiting GOTY), and I'm trying to update the Fallout wikia in Norwegian.
I've copied the monobook.css and monaco.css from here, it seems like you've edited it somewhat. Could you take a look at the front page of my wiki? The News tab on the right seems to be stretching the page, and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Cheers. -=KAG=-Discussion - the VaultNO 17:04, October 19, 2009 (UTC)
- I just knew I'd forgot something. Thanks a lot! -=KAG=-Discussion - the VaultNO 17:50, October 19, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Lesko faction issue
Nitty and I are discussing the faction of Lesko. In the GECK it shows that he belongs to the LeskoFaction. I removed his faction as Nitty has changed it to Himself. It may sound better but it is not the wording of the GECK which I though you wanted me to start using. That is why I did that. Also it is like that with Agatha.--Kingclyde 21:52, October 19, 2009 (UTC)
- While most of the other characters, like the Armory Master or Enclave Sigma Leader simply say "Enclave", not "FactionEnclave". This also brings up the issue with the GECK affiliations of, say, John Bishop, who is affiliated with the Bishop Family. Oh wait, there isn't one... We shouldn't use the GECK for the affiliations, we should use the ingame information. Nitty 21:55, October 19, 2009 (UTC)
- Like a said, I haven't gone through all of the people. I'm trying to be civil, please don't treat me like I'm a fool. And in the GECK, it isn't called FactionEnclave, it's the EnclaveFaction. And yes it would stay Enclave as Enclave is a group and thus it would stay. My argument is for people that do not have a group affilation such as Lesko, Agatha etc. You are comparing apples with oranges. The Armory Master and Enclave Leader have a group faction. Lesko and Agatha along with many others I'm sure do not. That is the issue, not Enclave and other group NPC's. If you want to see how I do it with people who have a group faction, look at Crowley. He has 3 factions but the top on is the UnderworldFaction. I thus put Underworld. So once again please read what I write before making random accusations about my motives.--Kingclyde 22:05, October 19, 2009 (UTC)
- But what about all the lone NPCs in games without the GECK? Like Willy? It wouldn't stay consistant. Nitty 22:11, October 19, 2009 (UTC)
- But that is Fallout 2 which uses a totally different infobox template. Correct? If it doesn't it should as the weapons are different.--Kingclyde 22:14, October 19, 2009 (UTC)
- Well, what makes a group like the Enclave important enough to not have the faction bit? Nitty 22:16, October 19, 2009 (UTC)
- I'm done nitpicking this with you. Nitty. I will await an answer from porter. I'm trying to follow what needs to be done. At this point you are making me not give a fuck about this wiki because you seem to disagree with almost all of my edits. I don't understand really. For all I care it should be empty now that I think about it.

I know that. Lesko has no affiliation to anybody else. And technically, Agatha's affiliated with both herself and the caravan merchants, by what she says. Nitty 22:24, October 19, 2009 (UTC)
- Well do what you want. I don't fucking care. Are you happy? Fucking undo every edit I've done.--Kingclyde 22:26, October 19, 2009 (UTC)
GUYS! Leave it! Christ... Spoon Leave me a freakin' message 22:26, October 19, 2009 (UTC)
- We use the in-universe affiliation, regardless of whether it has any gameplay significance, in the "affiliation" field, not any GECK affiliations. We could add a separate field for "GECK faction(s)", though. Ausir(talk) 22:28, October 19, 2009 (UTC)
- Seems I have a little deja-vu; didn't we discuss this before? -- Porter21 (talk) 23:20, October 19, 2009 (UTC)
The GECK factions are what dictates the faction in-game. I broke it down on my talk page. My question is when a person has no group affilation (such as Lesko and Agatha) should we put "Himself", simply "Lesko" or just leave it blank. --Kingclyde 22:44, October 19, 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, but the affiliation field is not for the in-game faction, but for the in-universe faction. For example, both Casdin and McGraw are part of the same faction in-universe, even if they have different in-game factions.
- As for using "Himself", I generally used it myself for characters that are leaders of factions that don't have specific names and that have other characters are affiliated with. E.g. if Kenji is affiliated with Gizmo, then Gizmo is affiliated with Himself. For other characters, I usually just leave it blank. Ausir(talk) 23:02, October 19, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] GOG
I had some gog problems with my account and the game I won in the gog contest messed up my account, so Ausir suggested I talk to support. I did and we ended up making a new account for me. I asked the gog support guy how to reclaim the game I won, and he said to ask Ausir because he had the download codes. It has been about two weeks, two messages on his talk page, and an e-mail, and Paweł still has not responded to me. Do you think you could ask him to deal with it? Thanks, Porter!--GigityMaster (Talk) 23:25, October 19, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Template:Person
Can you add an empty one together with Template:Incomplete to all person articles? Ausir(talk) 00:07, October 20, 2009 (UTC)
- Also, if I leave the "type" field blank, it defaults to actor. Can it default to "Person" instead? Herve Caen is neither a developer nor an actor, for example. Ausir(talk) 00:10, October 20, 2009 (UTC)
- Or maybe add the "Publisher" type? This would be more fitting for Herve and Brian Fargo. By the way, I'm not exactly sure whether PR/marketing people like Pete Hines or Matt Grandstaff should be called/categorized as "developers". What do you think? Ausir(talk) 00:16, October 20, 2009 (UTC)
- I'd also maybe add a "musician" type for Louis Armstrong and The Ink Spots. Ausir(talk) 00:17, October 20, 2009 (UTC)
- Sounds good, although I think "musician" is better than "artist", since people might end up applying "artist" to actual developers that work on a game's art, for whom I think "developer" should be used. Ausir(talk) 01:16, October 20, 2009 (UTC)
- I'd include company role for developers as well. For example, Chris Avellone and Feargus Urquhart will then be listed as co-owners of Obsidian. Ausir(talk) 19:06, October 20, 2009 (UTC)
- I'd also change "Games worked on" to "Titles worked on", since for now the Fallout Bible is not a game, and in the future it might also cover things like a movie or comic book, if one gets made (actually, there's also the One Man, and a Crate of Puppets comic). Ausir(talk) 19:09, October 20, 2009 (UTC)

By the way, the people categories could use a revamp. Currently only developers are divided by game. We should set up a division into "Developers", "Musicians" etc. on one hand, and "People connected to Fallout", "People connected to Fallout 2" etc. on the other, with subcategories like "Fallout 2 voice actors". Ausir(talk) 00:02, October 21, 2009 (UTC)
- I was also thinking of dividing "developers" into "producers", "designers", "artists" (this one already is created) etc. Ausir(talk) 00:07, October 21, 2009 (UTC)
Sounds good on all counts. I wouldn't differentiate between Black Isle and Interplay as employer, BTW, given how vague this issue can be. Maybe a joint "Interplay and Black Isle employees" category? As for Herve and Brian, maybe "Publisher CEO"? Ausir(talk) 00:49, October 21, 2009 (UTC)
Sounds good. Ausir(talk) 02:24, October 21, 2009 (UTC)
- How about e.g. "Fallout 3 publishing and marketing staff" or "Fallout 3 publishing and marketing people"? Ausir(talk) 14:38, October 21, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Radioactive Gore
I think this should be deleted as there is no data in the GECK for damage etc. It isn't listed as a weapon at all. What do you think?--Kingclyde 01:15, October 20, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] FO3 Locations Project
Can you give a peer review and check the boxes for both Bailey's Crossroads and Bailey's Crossroads metro? I have completed them. Vault 815 02:11, October 21, 2009 (UTC)
Can you take a look at Outcast outpost please? I have made major edits. Vault 815
I think we should remove the project tags from completed pages and lock them. Otherwise, it encourages some idiot to mess it up. What do you think? Vault 815 14:40, October 21, 2009 (UTC)
I see where you are coming from on the issue, I agree that the project tags should stay but I have a Idea that would satisfy both sides. Create a separate Project box that would be manually replacing the existing ones after a page has been finished and only when a page has been finished. This new box could be the existing one but have a green check box on the end with the words PAGE COMPLETE under it. Or create a new box entirely that would be placed under or to the side of the Project box saying simply THIS PAGE IS COMPLETE with a green check box. That way It would notify people of the project and discourage LARGE scale edits to structure while leaving it open for small edits such as bug additions and new additions to notes/Behind the scenes. Vault 815 13:49, October 22, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Tag skills in infoboxes
I noticed Charon's tag skills and levels got reintroduced into the infobox. Why I agree to a certain extent that the tag skills are fine, there realy is not advantage to having the level info field. Not sure why it is there. Let me know what you think.--Kingclyde 16:38, October 22, 2009 (UTC)
I reintroduced it because it was present on every other companion except dogmeat. In addition many of the enemy pages include hit points and tagged skills in the template. With Charon appearing to be the odd man out I could only assume it was a mistake. So I made it conform to the other companions templates which included the level info field. Maybe its not necessary for tag skills but probably important for hit points. I also don't really know the coding for templates that well and could only copy existing formats not make new ones. --LordVukodlak 17:17, October 22, 2009 (UTC)
Well, at this point the only reason Charon doesn't have them is because the others do not have the new template applied to them yet. The NPC overhaul project is extensive and I've been slacking off on it myself. Tags skills I have no problem with, but the levels box makes no sense. 1-30 is kind of a given for all of the companions right?--Kingclyde 17:56, October 22, 2009 (UTC)
- Not really. The creature companions (Fawkes, Dogmeat, RL-3) have a fixed level without Broken Steel (and them leveling with the player with Broken Steel is actually a bug which causes them to have far too much HP etc). I'm also not sure what new template you're talking about, {{Character}} hasn't had any significant changes recently. If you're referring to the infobox requirements for the FO3 NPC overhaul project, the fields listed there are the ones every character is supposed to have at least - it's not meant to say that no other fields are acceptable. For example, the "family" field is not listed because not every character has a (known) family; but for those who do it should still be used. If the project instructions are unclear, my apologies. -- Porter21 (talk) 18:05, October 22, 2009 (UTC)
- I see the fields in the infobox for it. What I was doing was using the box from Owen Lyons and making it fit whomever I was overhauling. I used it because it was the example. Never thought to check the template. My mistake.--Kingclyde 18:48, October 22, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Template:Company
By the way, I think we could use a company infobox for Interplay, Bethesda etc. Does other type of article that doesn't have an infobox and should get one come to your mind? Ausir(talk) 01:42, October 23, 2009 (UTC)
- As for other infoboxes, maybe something for books and other non-game publications, like the Fallout Bible, official game guides, One Man, and a Crate of Puppets, The Art of Fallout 3, etc.? Ausir(talk) 15:48, October 23, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] D20 Gameicon
Can you make a Gameicon for Fallout d20? I suggest using the d20 system logo instead of the one on the cover, since the latter would look too confusingly similar to FO1 logo. Ausir(talk) 02:28, October 23, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Extra categorie for Weapon Template
Hello my friend =p. It is fair to ask if you could add an "extra" categorie on the templates of weapon (than that of early Fallout games) so I can add an additional image that is too small for a Gallery contents. If you can not, is not grave. See soon =). Itachou 14:42, October 23, 2009 (UTC)
- Hoooooo ! thank you dear friend, I hope it don't take too long =). Hehe, this will help me, it's nice ^^. Take care of yourself my buddy =p. Itachou 15:05, October 23, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] {{table}}
just out of curiosity. what does {{table}} do that would make it necessary to remove it from my user page immediatly? i'm not trying to be fresh it's just that, well, i don't even know how you could have noticed it that fast. does it screw up other pages for my user page to use a template tag that's invalid? [edit] In-universe vs. In-GECK
Nitty is using this new fangled term. What exactly does it apply to. I thought it didn't apply to NPC's because we actually use those terms to distinguish between characters (i.e. NPC, PC, and that other term used for characters that can be played by the player). And if that's how we are "doing it now" we once again need guideline for that too. I've always put NPC vs. people or whatnot. My head hurts. That the gods it's almost the weekend.--Kingclyde 21:27, October 23, 2009 (UTC)
- Myself, I always meant for most sections to be written from in-universe perspective, unless they're specifically sections related to gameplay. I generally don't tend to use the term "NPC" in article intros, as characters are generally considered assumed to be NPCs unless otherwise noted. I also think "people" is more appropriate in article intro than "characters". Ausir(talk) 21:32, October 23, 2009 (UTC)

Why did you remove "Fallout 3 holodisks" category from "Fallout 3 notes" a while back? Aren't all holodisks also notes? Ausir(talk) 00:21, October 24, 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, but won't at least some people expect to see all entries from the Notes tab in the Pip-Boy to be in the Notes category? Ausir(talk) 01:03, October 24, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] I wanna live!
Is there anyway to NOT die in the last mission? I tried letting sentinel lyons in there but either way the game ends. so if you want to finish side missions you have to finish it before finishing the story missions?

[edit] Italics in TOC
I was instructed by Kingclyde not to italicize TOCs. Since I haven't been able to find a policy regarding this, I've been going by his direction. Am I wrong?--Gothemasticator 18:41, October 28, 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the policy link. That's what I was trying to find. I'll have to check in with Kingclyde. It was indeed book titles (and movie titles) that he didn't want me to italicize in TOCs. Thanks--Gothemasticator 18:48, October 28, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] PorterBot
The "name" part of the weapon box for FN FAL (Fallout Tactics section) seems broken (at least on my screen). Was the PorterBot the one that broke it? Most of the other weapons boxes it altered seem completely fine. Dr Zoidberg (talk • contribs)
- Excellent. Wasn't a criticism - but I thought if the bot worked on 99% of pages you probably didn't have time to look through every single one and check it worked properly... and I didn't know how to fix it myself :-) Dr Zoidberg

[edit] Background section for the custom AEP7 laser pistols?
Is that really necessary? I thought that was what the main article was for...? Nitty 15:22, November 1, 2009 (UTC)
Well, I don't think that the history of the base weapon should be put on the unique weapon's page. Sure, none of the unique laser pistols have any specific history behind them, but weapons like the Metal Blaster, MPLX Novasurge, and Zhu-Rong v418 Chinese Pistol do. Shouldn't the background section only exist for the specific item's history? Nitty 20:03, November 2, 2009 (UTC)

Could you help out there? I think we could use a project page for that, could you make a layout table for multi-game item overview? Ausir(talk) 19:27, November 1, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Bots
So I guess you're the guy one should go to about bots.
There are some tasks on The VaultNO that I'd love to get automated. What exactly can bots do? I have this scenario: I realized that a lot of the categories on The VaultNO are typos. I wanna change them. Is there a way I can get a bot to automatically add all articles of a certain category to a NEW category? And will I then have to manually delete the old ones? Thanks -=KAG=-Discussion - the VaultNO 18:32, November 4, 2009 (UTC)
- It really doesn't seem to hard. I'm going to look into the pywikipedia bot, but I'll probably get back to you later. Hope that's okay. Thanks! -=KAG=-Discussion - the VaultNO 18:57, November 4, 2009 (UTC)
- So, I've downloaded pythong, and I'm not at the place where I'm supposed to fill in user-config, but I'm not certain what to type and where. I found your configurations page for your bot, and I take it that's what I'm supposed to use, but I guess I should be changing something? Think you could help me out a little? -=KAG=-Discussion - the VaultNO 20:20, November 4, 2009 (UTC)
- You've been of great help thus far, I really appreciate it. Bear with me just a little longer. I'm trying to execute the category.py script, but I'm not sure how. I located category.py, and I'm planning on executing it with this as the syntax: "category.py move -from:Fallout 3 organisasjoner -to:'Organisasjoner i Fallout 3'"
- When I double-click category.py, it opens, waits for a short while, runs quickly through a list of what seems like arguments for the script, and then closes before I can write anything. What causes this?
- And, when I log on, it doesn't give me a confirmation message. I'm not familiar with using the cmd console, so is it supposed to be blank as I type the password? No asteriks or anything? Thanks. -=KAG=-Discussion - the VaultNO 21:42, November 4, 2009 (UTC)
- Almost there now. It executes the script, but there seems to be an error. I've screencapped it for you: here. What is not working? And as a sidenote, how do i set KAGBot to Bot status so that it doesn't show up everywhere. I accidentaly set it to Bureaucrat. -=KAG=-Discussion - the VaultNO 22:38, November 4, 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I'm certain. I just deleted both the .py and .pyc file, created them again, and I still get the same message. Are you sure I'm not supposed to change something in the configuration? -=KAG=-Discussion - the VaultNO 10:08, November 5, 2009 (UTC)
- Copied everything you have, made sure 'en' was 'no and my nick was where it was supposed to be, and logged in again. Still nothing. Same message. It now says it can't find fallout-family. So I guess the problem is family-related. -=KAG=-Discussion - the VaultNO 11:58, November 5, 2009 (UTC)

- Actually, I got this message now. I changed -family: to simply fallout, not fallout-family. Here's the NEW error: here. -=KAG=-Discussion - the VaultNO 17:02, November 5, 2009 (UTC)
- Allrighty. I think I figured it out. I added something to fallout_family.py:
def apipath(self, code):
return '/api.php'
Fixed the problem. Thanks for everything! -=KAG=-Discussion - the VaultNO 17:22, November 5, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Creatures
I'd make overview pages for consistency's sake anyway, even if there will just be 4 entries there. Ausir(talk) 23:11, November 4, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks Porter for Reese's Pieces, er, Buttercup fix
Appreciate your cleanup on Giddyup Buttercup article. It's much better now. There are still some issues with the content logic but nothing comes to mind right now in emending that part.
Also wanted to thank you for recreating the Buttercup Toy page. I had considered moving all the Toy references but saw that the original redirect to Giddyup had been created by Ausir, so I decided to sit tight on that one. Glad you went ahead! --Theicla 04:03, November 5, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Getting rid of MyHome
http://swfanon.wikia.com somehow managed to create a workaround that redirects MyHome to the Main Page. Could you look into it? Ausir(talk) 16:29, November 5, 2009 (UTC)
- Well, if more wikis disable MyHome completely to get rid of the redirect from the site root, maybe Wikia will allow us to disable just the redirect. But yeah, perhaps it would be best to make a poll. Ausir(talk) 21:00, November 5, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Need some help with Abblink
Hey, sorry to bother you again. The good news are that I'm not in need of help with the bot, as I've found out pretty much everything about it. I'm trying to translate {{Abblink}} into Norwegian, and I want it to say "Våpen i Fallout 3", "Steder i Fallout 3" (Weapons in Fallout 3, Places in Fallout 3) etc, as "Fallout 3 våpen" (Fallout 3 våpen) doesn't work in Norwegian. I've tried to play around with it, can you take a look? And some translations: link = lenke and name = navn. Think that's all. Here's the template on my wiki. -=KAG=-Discussion - the VaultNO 20:50, November 6, 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm here again. Some trouble with another template, but I think it might be related. It's this template. I want the titleheadlink to actually link to "Primære statistikker", but it doesn't. Instead it shows [[{{{link}}}|Primær statistikk]]. Is it related? -=KAG=-Discussion - the VaultNO 01:28, November 8, 2009 (UTC)
- I hate to nag, which is why I'm trying to put off asking you again. I can't really carry on working before I've fixed this. I completely understand if you haven't got the time, I get that you're busy, but if you can or can't, please leave a note. -=KAG=-Discussion - the VaultNO 14:40, November 10, 2009 (UTC)
- So the whole problem lies in the Abb and Abblink templates? I can take a look at them myself, but I'm not too good at these things. If you could me a version that puts the name of the game last (ie. "Guns in Fallout 3"), that I could translate, that'd be great. I understand that you're busy, so you just take your time.
- Hope you had a great weekend, by the way! -=KAG=-Discussion - the VaultNO 15:07, November 10, 2009 (UTC)
- I believe the best translation would be "Kun nevnte karakterer" (Only-mentioned characters), yeah. -=KAG=-Discussion - the VaultNO 20:13, November 10, 2009 (UTC)
- It's working! Thank you so much, man. Really appreciate it. -=KAG=-Discussion - the VaultNO 11:36, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Porter Engineering wiki?
I know you're pretty busy here already, but when working on importing some of our templates into the Dragon Age wiki, I've been thinking of maybe starting a separate wiki with more generic versions of The Vault's templates, which could then be imported by other gaming wikis, or maybe even included in a starter version of gaming wikis from the get go. What do you think? Ausir(talk) 21:15, November 8, 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, the default ones are enough for most people, but others will like to use more advanced templates designed specifically for games. For example, when copying The Vault templates to Dragon Age wiki it takes some effort to first get rid of some Fallout-specific stuff and make them more generic, as well as copying over all components etc. A generic, ready for import template pack would be neat for that. [edit] Template:Image
Hello, sorry about the edit on the Template:Image page. I reverted it back to your edit, I'm just using your information on these templates to try to get the Pro Wrestling Wiki back in shape. I just don't want you to worry that I'm screwing up any of your progress here. If I make errors like I just did, I'll always revert them back to your stuff. Wagnike2 05:35, November 9, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Sugar Bombs
I was wondering why was my reference to Sugar Smacks removed from the Sugar Bombs page?
Many elements in Fallout 3 have a reference to things in the 1950s and I believe Sugar Smacks are quite relevant.
An explanation would be nice.
Thank you, --Mattan138 19:34, November 10, 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for your explanation.--Mattan138 00:07, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Cut content and mentioned-only
I think categorizing these by game is a good idea. And it could also encompass e.g. characters that are mentioned only in one game but appear in another. Ausir(talk) 13:25, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
