Recent changesEdit

I've just sent Wikia a mail explaining our problems with recent changes, so I think they will know where the problem is and get working on it. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:49, June 28, 2012 (UTC)

How about we ask Porter to take a look at it then? The sooner it is fixed the better. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:00, June 28, 2012 (UTC)

Mediawiki 1.19 Edit

Hi. So actually I had seen Jspoel's message and reported the issue before we got your ticket at contact, although I freely confess that was just chance that I happened to be online today and using contact was definitely the right way to go. We take issues caused by the upgrade seriously and respond to them as quickly as we can.

It turns out that it is not as simple as re-installing the variables extension, so some hours ago they reverted your wiki to 1.16 while they sort it out.

In terms of the changeover, the overall plan was announced here; for most wikis nothing breaks, so no wiki-specific announcement is needed. We are working very hard to respond quickly to the wikis where it does cause issues, such as yours, and appreciate that you report the problems when they appear.

Once they have sorted out the issue with these templates they will likely change the wiki back to MW 1.19. You can always check Special:Version to see which one you are on. -- Wendy (talk)@Wikia 03:14, June 29, 2012 (UTC)

Chat.css Edit

Hi G-Avatar. I deleted my chat.css page because it wasn't working correctly (pink stars were gone to be replaced with no stars). I think something happened to the original image. Could you take a look? (Just restore it) --Skire (talk) 14:29, June 29, 2012 (UTC)

Pff, I didn't know it was uploaded to the wiki too (only thought it was on an external site). That was stupid, I should've checked the logs. It's all good now, thanks =) --Skire (talk) 14:39, June 29, 2012 (UTC)

Recent changesEdit

Do you know why I have the button Wiki Activity instead of the Recent Changes button in the top right corner of my screen? I checked my gadgets and I have checkmarked advanced options with recent changes. Also, my edits aren't bolded anymore like they used to before the upgrade to mediawiki 1.19. Something to do with my wikia.css maybe? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:11, July 4, 2012 (UTC)

Just created a personal common.css. My edits are bolded again, so that works. Recent changes still no dice. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:26, July 4, 2012 (UTC)
With the new mediawiki version a Category:Pages_with_broken_file_links has been created. There's one link leading to EnergyX's talkpage. I think the source of the problem is Garoux' navbox template. When you check What Links Here there's also a strange link to a non-existing template ROOTPAGENAME. Maybe it rings a bell with you what and why that is. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:41, July 4, 2012 (UTC)

( Well, I don't have the Recent Changes button appearing in the top right corner of my screen, but Wiki Activity. When I click on it, logically it leads to the Wiki Activity screen. I don't want that. I want a Recent Changes button which leads to Recent Changes. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 20:45, July 4, 2012 (UTC)

Oh ok then. I'm aware of those placeholder files giving red links. That's why I removed it yesterday from the welcome mediawiki page. New user shouldn't get it anymore. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 21:28, July 4, 2012 (UTC)

Issue Edit

Hi. Well I've been having an issue for around 2 days now. I've been asking for help from SigmaDelta and he directed me to you. The issue is that while I can make edits and everything, I can't post any comments in blogs. Like the Nukapedia RP. Basically I open the page and everything is okay, but as soon as I click on the comment box to start typing, the "post comment" button gets grayed out. And the "reply" button in other comments gets grayed out too. I'm not sure what could be the problem. ~Rin-Rin~ (talk) 20:58, July 6, 2012 (UTC)

I did suspect it might be a wiki issue, but noticed it only happened with this wiki. Kind of strange... but thanks, I guess it was just a matter of waiting. I noticed I could post now. ~Rin-Rin~ (talk) 22:00, July 9, 2012 (UTC)

So, I hope you restore it to the former glory... though wish I can see you edit more. Energy X 18:10, July 8, 2012 (UTC)

Congrats, big guy. I can't really get you anything, as a result of being continents away, but I suppose this will suffice...

Block reasonsEdit

Earlier today I blocked a user but missed some block reasons in the pull down menu compared to before the mediawiki upgrade. When I edited the block reason mediawiki page, all reasons were still there but somehow not showing (like abusing multiple accounts). Do you know what's causing it? 10kEdit

It's funny, I thought I had way less edits than I actually did, so I didn't plan on my 10,000th being a minor fix on your request (not that it isn't important). So yeah, maybe you should run a third time and it'll be someone's 10,666th edit or something XD Oh, and I'll catch up to you soon enough. You just wait =) --Skire (talk) 00:50, July 9, 2012 (UTC)

Patroller Request Edit

Hey Ghost, I have come here to ask you for patroller rights. As of now I have been here for a little over a year and I started seriously editing around the split. As of now I have 2,273 edits while the requirement is 250. I am one of the major contributors to the Van Buren article project Redux, where most of my edits come from. I revert the occasional vandal edit if I can catch it before someone else does. ;) I think these rights will help with edits like these because rollback is one hell of a tool, to me at least. I am on later than most so, being able to have a one click undo button will do me some good when it comes to vandal edits. Thanks for your consideration. Twitter, Facebook, etc. Edit

Just noticed Nukapedia's Twitter, Facebook and other links on the main page point to incorrect places. We should probably look into correcting this. Does Nukapedia even have Twitter and Facebook pages? No? I didn't think so. Let me know what you think we should do. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 00:50, July 11, 2012 (UTC)

I reckon I can talk to Agent c, as he seems to be our resident PR guy. Perhaps he would be willing to take on those responsibilities, were we to create Nukapedia twitter and facebook content. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 00:49, July 13, 2012 (UTC)

AJAX Feature Edit

Greetings GostAvatar. I'm one of the admins over at the ME wiki, and after our AJAX feature seems to start glitching earlier today, I started looking around. I came across your comment on Community Central about an updated version of the AJAX feature here on the Fallout Wiki. The feature still auto refreshes, but the edits no longer collapse. I saw yours here was still working properly, so I attempted to try it, yet it didn't fix the problem. If you know about this feature, I'll continue this conversation, but if not, then I won't bother you further with it. Thanks. Lancer1289 (talk) 20:49, July 12, 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for your response. I will try the updated code again and purge, and see if that works. Lancer1289 (talk) 00:32, July 13, 2012 (UTC)

我需要您的帮助Edit

Hey Ghost. Gunny was helping me the other day with something I wanted to change on the Chinese Fallout Wiki (here) that had to be done on MediaWiki:Common.css. It was to change visited links' colours from the default purple to something else (HEX Value #594827). But the Common.css page there was colossal and Gunny said it was an old version (go figure) of ours. So now links and buttons that are supposed to be their default colours are now all #594827. That's every visited link, not just ones within pages (which was the intention). If you could take a look at it for me, I'd be very grateful. I have granted you sysop rights so you can edit the page. --Skire (talk) 21:44, August 1, 2012 (UTC)

Wikia Edit

We've been doing this sort of thing since the day the The Vault came into existence: Advertising Steam sales, for instance. However, I suppose two wrongs don't make a right. I'll go ahead and move my blog to my domain for now and I'll send a message to Wikia regarding this matter. Hopefully, they will have no problem with it. I doubt it will, seeing as in how my products are relevant to the community here. Dragon Leon Skål! 18:05, August 4, 2012 (UTC)

You're absolutely right. Best to go through the ropes and get it out of the way instead of being hasty. Thanks for taking me to the side about this. I went ahead and removed the blog, but I went ahead and moved it to a private sandbox for now. I hope you don't mind me doing this, I just want to show Wikia what it is I plan on putting up here, and I'd rather not go through the troubles of setting up which images I'm currently using again, etc. I'll make sure it stays private for now though. Thanks for your time Ghost. Dragon Leon Skål! 18:16, August 4, 2012 (UTC)
Just sent them a message. :) I really hope it doesn't take them too long to respond. Was there anything else you were concerned about, while we're on this subject? Dragon Leon Skål! 18:32, August 4, 2012 (UTC)

Input Edit

Hey Ghost! I saw you posting in the fora, and so I was wondering if you might also have the time to give this forum of mine a look as well. I remember you being around when the first discussion took place, and so I'd really like your feedback on what you think of this idea now. Dragon Leon Skål! 00:20, August 8, 2012 (UTC)

Favour Edit

Absolutely. I was trying to keep the whole conversation civil, (Look at my first response to him in his most recent archives - or on my talk-page.) but I have to admit to getting quite irritated when he refused to let up on his attitude, and then coming back as an anon just to make a controversial edit. Anyways, I will be getting on with my life now, and I'm about to start editing again. So as long as I don't have anymore snarky messages sent my way, I won't be any further of a problem. Let me know if you need anything else. Dragon Leon Skål! 22:18, August 9, 2012 (UTC)

Absolutely. Have to be honest though, I'm not sure how my attitude can be compared at the moment. (Except for the edit war.) In my opinion, I only put more feeling into the way I write when I have people insulting and cursing at me. But yeah, I'd still like to hear what you think. I could always use some criticism to help me out. Dragon Leon Skål! 22:26, August 9, 2012 (UTC)
That was well said, and I really appreciate you explaining that out to me. That's sort of the problem with the internet though: (At least with me.) There is no personal connection. No physical contact, and no body language. So I tend to look and act upon things over the internet with strict logic and reason. It tends to work well for most cases, but you're right about this one. Trying to counter-balance an emotional response with facts just never works in the end. I'm not sure what had Sigma over the edge in the first place, but I should have handled things differently. I just wish he'd take me up on my offer to meet in chat and talk things over. I think that's mostly what's enabling these recent affairs, is that we've been forced to interact each other almost primarily over edit summaries and edits themselves. Anyways, thanks again Ghost. I hope we can have this whole matter settled with as shortly as possible. All I want is to continue editing. (Today was the first day in a long time that I've decided to purposefully re-write pages. It was fun until this happened. O: ) Dragon Leon Skål! 23:10, August 9, 2012 (UTC)

Repair lists Edit

I need to get this stuff out of my sandbox. Do you think it merits a page? If not, I'll just delete it. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 15:28, August 11, 2012 (UTC)

Because the forum is lockedEdit

I absolutely support the warnings page idea. It leaves talk pages to their respective owners while still allowing for important information to be found quickly. In terms of stopping users from removing warnings from their own warning page, simple - locked to administrator only editing. That prevents people from removing warnings or even adding false/unnecessary warnings to other pages. Yes Man defaultUser Avatar talk 13:04, August 13, 2012 (UTC)

Huzzah! Edit

Everything is working perfectly on my end. This is going to be really convenient for me. Now I won't keep having to add onto my ban-tab sandbox. Dragon Leon Skål! 15:28, August 13, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks Ghost, it looks much better now. I hate to be a bother, but the timestamp following the signature seems to be clipping into the signature, strangely. An issue Edit

Hi Ghost. A user forwarded me an issue that someone else had reported to him on another wiki, regarding this wiki. Forwarded from my talk page:

"Hello SaintPain, The Nukapidia editor doesn't seem to finish loading for me. I say seem because the various blog comments of all the blogs I've tryed aren't comming up either. But somehow it loads just fine on this wiki. I was worndering if you know anyway to about/fix this?---Ant2242 03:18, August 30, 2012 (UTC)"

You probably know a lot more about this than I do. --Skire (talk) 02:19, September 1, 2012 (UTC)

Infoboxes Edit

I wanna see what I can do about finishing the infobox conversion here. I'm not completely up to speed on everything that the conversion entailed, so I'm working at a bit of a knowledge deficit. As I understand it, we went from infobox old to infobox and a number of infoboxes have not yet been converted. Is there any way you can give me an idea of what it's going to take to update the rest? What other templates may need to be updated? Updates to the .css? What do I need to know about the changes to the new infobox structure that need to be made to the old infoboxes? What would be the best plan of attack to accomplish this? The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 21:07, September 1, 2012 (UTC)

Walkthroughs using chart template Edit

Howdy, Ghost. I've been working on using the {{Chart}} template to create a visual quick walkthrough for quests. I think i have it nailed down how to use it. Victor has been kicking around the idea of a project to use the chart template to replace the bullet list quick walkthrough sections. I've got a few worked up in my sandbox for you to check out. I like how it's working out, so far. Leon, myself, Vic and maybe a few others are willing to commit to a project to add this, if it's alright with the BCs. Take a look and let me know what you think. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 16:19, September 2, 2012 (UTC)

The VillaEdit

Ghost, I come to you with a question about the Villa which you may be able to answer because it's about content you added. Ýesterday User:Eddo36 and me had some discussion about the Villa. He says the districts mentioned in the Villa's infobox are sections of the Villa, but I say the Villa is just a section/district, same as the other 4 districts. These 5 districts together form (with the hotel) the Sierra Madre. If all the districts would be sections of the Villa, the Villa and the Sierra Madre would be one and the same area. If you check the map map markers, they change when you go to the separate areas. Now you added on the Villa page that: In addition to the main area, the Villa was composed of four districts. That would indicate that you think The Villa encompasses The Villa itself as well as the other districts. That doesn't make sense to me for the reason I just gave. What you think of it? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 06:34, September 4, 2012 (UTC)

And the games icons have disappeared from all the pages. Any idea how that could have happened? Jspoel Speech Jspoel 07:01, September 4, 2012 (UTC)
I undid Porter's edit on common.js where he tried to fix our archive tool and got the game icons back. That also restored the archive tool which had disappeared in the dropdown talkpage menu. Needs another check by Porter. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 16:31, September 4, 2012 (UTC)

Hello, Ghost! I have recently re-created my Administrators' Discussion Board, and I was wondering if you could help me implement a vital feature to aid in its success. As you can see on the ADB, I have migrated the Template:Forumtable over here to Nukapedia, and now I am wanting to have it where every time a forum is created there, notices are sent out to each of the Sysops. Do you think this is possible? I figured it would be, as it's sort of similar to how the Template:Talkback works. I'll be looking forward to your response!

Pinned forum threads Edit

I just added a way to pin threads in the forums. All you have to do is add the category [[Category:Pinned {{PAGENAME}}]] to the forum page and create that category if not yet created. I'll work the kinks out a bit as I go, and try to add a "Pinned threads" section to the top of the forum tables. For right now, the only pinned thread I wanted was the Admin discussion board. We can look at new threads, like maybe a FO4 forum when it comes out, as they come up.

I sure could use some help getting this set up right. I'm thinking of creating forum headers for the pinned threads so they won't show twice when created, and I'm not 100% certain how I'm gonna add that "Pinned threads" subsection so it doesn't show on forums where there are no pinned threads. If the aliens that abducted you ever release you, give me a shout. Miss ya. The Gunny  380px-USMC-E7 svg 22:34, October 16, 2012 (UTC)
