Assassin suit Edit

Only capitalise proper nouns, and in-game capitalisation is not given priority here as it is often incorrect. --233345-cartman1 tinyUser Avatar talk 14:43, June 27, 2011 (UTC)

Pistol Whipin' GECK Edit

I tend to just remove trivia that consists of 'this is the only blank', because it should be fairly obvious. Nitty Tok. 14:18, July 19, 2011 (UTC)

Bullets Edit

  • All the other ones had the numbers, I just made it so they all were the same. Did you even look at other quests? And it doesn't effect putting indents into edits either.
As per layout guidelines, all quests quick walk through guides should be numbered and not bullet points. User avatar tagUser Avatar talk 16:57, July 21, 2011 (UTC)

Tribal WisdomEdit

I saw your post on Mictlantecuhtli's page and wanted to shed some light on the subject. Part of Tribal Wisdom's effect is that it reduces limb damage from animals by 50%. However, if you have Animal Friend, your much less likely to be attacked by an animal, thus getting rid of the limb damage reduction for the most part. --Kastera (talk) 18:13, August 2, 2011 (UTC)

I was just in the process of typing that, "Edit conflict", lol. Since Nightstalkers are included in the list the poison resistance is useless versus them also with Animal Friend. Mictlantecuhtli 18:16, August 2, 2011 (UTC)
Reworded it, and explained why Animal Friend is not a good choice when used with Tribal Wisdom. Since you get to choose when you attack the animal it probably won't get any type of counter attack off to threaten a limb with being crippled. So yes, Animal Friend + Tribal Wisdom is a diluted combination. Mictlantecuhtli 16:27, August 3, 2011 (UTC)

I think I've reworded it so everyone is happy. Let me know if it works out. --Kastera (talk) 17:49, August 3, 2011 (UTC)

That's fine with me, though "less likely" is the same thing as less effective. Semantics is all it is. Mictlantecuhtli 18:04, August 3, 2011 (UTC)

Paralyzing Palm advice Edit

Hello Diablo ;)

In fact, only tips (like this perk is good with this trait etc.) are allowed but not strategy. In the strategy you have remove, only the first sentence is nice, the rest is strategy. I put the first sentence in the Planting items page.

For the bug, it remains a bug and I don't think it's very rare that someone who wants to kill a creature in a group of creatures with a powerful weapon (like well, the Gauss rifle) after paralyzing it =). Anyway, I try to re-write the bug a bit. Thank you for letting me know, nice evening and see you soon my friend! Itachou [~talk~] 17:59, August 6, 2011 (UTC)

Nice job, keep up the good works Diablo and see you around =)! Itachou [~talk~] 17:10, August 7, 2011 (UTC)

Assassin Suit edit war Edit

The statement in the Background section is a hypothesis, one that however likely, is still only a hypothesis and not a fact. Suppose for a moment that the Chinese Stealth Suit never had a name indicating its origin, never had any appearance in the fallout series that would suggest it's Chinese heritage, not even it's use by the Crimson Dragoons when it was introduced in Operation: Anchorage (add-on) nor any other appearance suggesting it was ever in anyway connected to the Chinese, and no player or editor of this wiki had ever knew its origin, let alone its existence. Now if you were to find this previously unknown suit of armor, disassemble and reverse engineered through-out X-13 would you possibly assume that it was originally built at big mountain as part of the stealth suit project? This goes with other things appearing at big mountain, Cyber dogs have not had their origins fully explained, they were used occasionally by pre-war police and the Enclave to some extent, then suddenly they appear at big mountain, apparently are produced there have enormous amounts of research and testing dedicated to them, does that mean they were originally from big mountain? No. Robo-brains where used extensively in Washington DC, and the one known as Skynet was a major project at the Sierra Army depot, if there wasn't any evidence that it was produced by another Pre-war company, you might assume they were built at Big Mt. considering all the advance models. Which brings me to my own hypotheses, 1. the Assassin Suit was brought in just like the CSA and reverse engineered to help make the MK II, The Assassin suit was brought in the same way as the robots, stolen technology that was then half hazardly enhanced by Big Mt. engineers, 3. and the most out there of these theories, the Assassin suit was engineered independently of the MK. II, sometime after the X-13 projects were concluded. Maybe this is verging on the border of a straw man argument, but my point remains, you can't post something that currently can not be proven, on a factual encyclopedic article as if it were fact. Don't try to use the "life is too short" argument when we're talking about taking care of a simple mistake and an overstep in authority by a self proclaimed "loremaster" (Troper of the Wastelands 19:39, August 15, 2011 (UTC))

Where do you stand? I was a bit confused as to who you where addressing in your last edit on the Assassin Suit talk when you posted

• All content needs to be accurate. The Vault aims to provide reliable information. In particular, adding speculation and own inventions (fan fiction, fan art etc.) to articles should be avoided.

• All content needs to be verifiable. Other editors need to be able to check and verify it.

I originally thought that the Assassin Suit was related to the Stealth Suit in the first screen shot I saw of it, it took me a while to figure out the disconnect, and even longer for me to address this matter. if your on my side, thanks, because I could use as much help as I can get to bring down the "loremaster", if not, it really won't be the first time I've went against stone walls, and it definitely wont stop me from holding the truth, no matter how mundane or overated it may seem. Nobody can continually deny the truth and remain in power for very long, and I think this Admin has gotten away with it too long. (Troper of the Wastelands 20:10, August 16, 2011 (UTC))

Just got your message Edit

It's good to know even a stranger is on your side, thank you sir. (Troper of the Wastelands 20:12, August 16, 2011 (UTC))

Back again... ^_^ Edit

Hello my friend ;)

The sentences:

"Weapons used by companions do not degrade (unless damaged by an enemy), making this an option to counter the fragility of the LAER."

"With the Built to Destroy trait and max charge ammunition, the weapon goes from perfect condition to broken in an unprecedented 84 shots."

"Bulk ammunition may be used to slightly prolong the LAER's life span. Due to this weapon's high damage and extreme fire rate, the damage loss from bulk ammunition is not seriously detrimental."

Are useless and some information doesn't need a unique sentence.

With the first sentence, re-write it like that is better for incorporate the whole:

"Elijah's advanced LAER has only 50 HP, causing it to degrade incredibly quickly. Possible way to counter this is to have Raul as a companion to make use of his Full Maintenance perk or use bulk ammunition." Itachou [~talk~] 16:11, August 18, 2011 (UTC)

Assassin suit debate and Mikael Edit

Hi FourWayDiablo.

I think you mix some things and for me every editor may be have wrong or reason, it's not a matter of being admin or normal editor. Also, Mikael is not the only admin here, if you have a problem with him on something for exemple he was too aggressive to you or you think he has wrong on something, come talk to me and I will talk to him or I will give my opinion on the debate between him and you independently of my friendship to him and you.

Please read my message on the assassin suit talk page. I hope that we keep good contact, have a nice evening =). Itachou [~talk~] 23:12, August 20, 2011 (UTC)

Yes, if you have problem with Mikael, please don't put that on admins, just him. I know that his behavior is sometimes difficult and violates the user conduct guidelines, but if so, the best is to send a message about that to me for example or Ausir. We will not stand idly.
In fact, we will leave it on the page because it has the greatest thing to be true on the contrary to be false, once the confirmation given, it will be kept permanently or be removed. I think you have right, and because of his behavior, no one wants to back down.
Me personally, what I want is just to improve The Vault as best I can, regardless of my friendship to anyone. Don't forget that you can always count on me on what you want here ;). I also replied on the talk page of the assassin suit. Nice day and see you soon! Itachou [~talk~] 12:58, August 21, 2011 (UTC)

Yes, this debate is pretty difficult, one as the other is possible and until we have no confirmation of something we cannot move forward. I'm going to put aside this case also as we have nothing new =).

For Mikael don't worry, I talked about him with Ghost, another admin that should to tell him. I already talk with him about his behavior, but he has a difficult personality who rarely listens to others, except Ausir. You are right also, his behaviour is tolerated but I don't know why, I voted neutral during his reconfirmation as admin which took place some time ago, given these many abuses before the assassin suit's case. But independently of him, if you see an admin abusing of his status or something, please tell me and I will speak with other admin about that directly.

Hehe nice you finished Dead Money? You have managed to recover all the bars? Now, prepare for Honest Hearts with Joshua Graham, one of the best character in the Fallout universe ;) (and extremely strong, I really struggled to kill him to test his power - reload after of course, haha you cannot kill a legend ;) -, in very hard and hardcore)! Well, nice evening and see you soon Diablo! Itachou [~talk~] 21:31, August 21, 2011 (UTC)

Me too, pretty hard to use the trick for all gold bars and obligated to choice the perk Long Haul, but well after, you are rich (too rich for the Mojave in fact, it's almost impossible to sell but that's for style - reminds me Morrowind with the lack of merchant's gold).
Hehe I liked but no, it is the logical continuation of add-ons and so I thinking that you were going to attack after finishing Dead Money. Ho yes, A Light Shining in Darkness is one of the best weapon of the game for a Guns skilled character - rapid fire, rapid reloading, correct power, I always have it in my inventory =).
Haha I guess he has not appreciated ;). For test their power, I prefer to test them by killing in regular combat, with no drugs, no explosives, just one to one. Anyway the first time, I shot at him, despite my DT perks, my remnants power armor and my 47 DT, he killed me in four shots and saw how he shot quickly, that to not last long, 5 seconds maximun! But I managed to kill him after several test, but I limped lol. Anyway I reload my save immediatly, I cannot really kill one of my favorite character in the Fallout universe.
Yes, fight to defend his territory with an equal chance of victory is the best thing to do, escape is not the answer. Good game and enjoy Zion, the environments are truly the most beautiful of Fallout: New Vegas in my opinion (ho also, rain is possible there)! Itachou [~talk~] 12:56, August 22, 2011 (UTC)

Good idea for the gold bars, well for my next game ;). Ha yes, and having in companion was a real pleasure, he kill very quickly the opponents, I had no time to kill anything. Well, have a nice day my friend and see you soon =)! Itachou [~talk~] 13:25, August 22, 2011 (UTC)

Joshua Graham Edit

Hehe it's nice =), but in fact I already peel all dialogues of Joshua Graham (it's me which add that Joshua Graham doesn't know Lanius in the Lanius page and so he was recruted in the Legion after 2277), but I sincerely appreciate your gesture.

But yes, characters with good intelligence as Marcus and Joshua can easily see that the Legion will collapse with the death of Caesar. Anyway I don't agree with Joshua, I think he could have held the reins of the Legion and half of the Caesar's Legion ideas come from him, since he is the co-founder.

Hehe it's strange you talk about that since in the "Crazy sam10/Weekly poll - 14", page 3, we talk already about the Caesar's Legion ;). Take a look, it's very interesting [1]. Itachou [~talk~] 14:04, August 22, 2011 (UTC)

No problem at all Edit

Just would like this to be settled once and for all. Glad I could help, and glad there are others out there who share the same view on the matter. --Living Lifeless 9 14:11, August 22, 2011 (UTC)

It seems this wiki is not perfect. Then again, which wiki IS? My love for Fallout has keep me coming back. Whether I am "active" or not. --Living Lifeless 9 15:34, August 22, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, oh how I loved just getting on this wiki just for the information, don't get me wrong, editing is great, getting to help out others and all. But I suppose when these things arise it is just inconvenient for everyone involved, down to the simple anon user. Accurate information is what makes this wiki great, and when that information is substituted for what people think is correct, that is when the wiki fails. --LL9

Even more about the goddamned suit. Edit

I get your point, however wouldn't it just conserve time and resources if you just put that the suit is where it is, and it doesn't matter how it got there. The assassain suit is one of my favorite things to wear, but does that make me care at all if it used to belong to Christie or is the MK1? NO. If you seriously want to avoid FANNON or if you never get a response from Chris, just put that its a random badass suit that you can find and nothing else, because anything else without Chris's approval is just speculation.

Cheers,

    --Shadow 19:31, August 22, 2011 (UTC)
You're an idiot. I would end my comment there, but it does not make progress, so; this wiki is here to put together all the information about the Fallout series that we can, all the facts and whatnot. Putting down that the assassin suit is "badass" is an opinion, and therefor, against what this wikipedia is trying to do. If you have something constructive to say about this matter then be my guest, if you don't, then butt out. Goodbye. --Living Lifeless 9 20:14, August 22, 2011 (UTC)
Umm... LivingLifeless, why are you replying on my page? ^_^ Even if I agree with some of your comments, please talk to Shadow directly. Thanks, --FourWayDiablo 12:18, August 23, 2011 (UTC)

Did you guys seriously think I meant to put this "random badass suit that you can find and nothing else" on the assassain suit page? I wasn't being serious. Also butting into other peoples conversations is rude.

Diablo, I know I was agreeing with you, I feel kinda dumb because somewhere in my mind i guess I forgot who you were and thought you were one of the guys saying that that stuff about christie and it being the mark one belonged on the page. I often lose myself when I get mad at people, and I hate it when people argue over stupid stuff like this. I also often forget that people can't tell when your not being serious or if your using sarcasm or not on the internet. Anyways, I'll stop pestering and confusing you, sorry about that.--Shadow 17:16, August 23, 2011 (UTC)

Tripwires Edit

Hello, FourWayDiablo

I found that if you hack those laser tripwires, they will not be set by you and roboscorpions, so you can't use them to your advantage. Maybe the tripwires will only attack the player, I cannot confirm this due to the tests are difficult. Anyways, thanks for the modification and correction, some editors will just delete them if they think your edits are not good enough. Advice requested re: strategies Edit

It includes all strat and tips, basically any way of telling a person how it is best to play the game. Telling someone how to play the game, i.e. showing the multiple options and routes is fine (example: quests). But saying that this is the best way, or it is better to do this etc., things along those lines are not to be included as they are personal opinions. This is the offical rule All content needs to be objective. Opinions, gameplay strategy, and "my favourite"-style passages should not be added to articles. Accordingly, guides may only be posted as subpages of one's user page or as a blog. If you follow that, then there shouldn't be any issues. User avatar tagUser Avatar talk 16:58, August 30, 2011 (UTC)

Be very brutal, try to reword it possible, otherwise remove them. But you will fine that most are things like, it is advised... or it is best to..., those should just be outright deleted. User avatar tagUser Avatar talk 17:05, August 30, 2011 (UTC)

Implant GRXEdit

You can remove the stub. I think it has enough information. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 16:56, August 31, 2011 (UTC)

Re: sStealth sSuit sStuff Edit

The Stealth suit MK II is the name of a specific unique item, it would seem capitalizing it would be the proper thing to do. *shrug* --ZappaFan 18:22, August 31, 2011 (UTC)

  • No, we don't uppercap stealth suit. It may be unique, but it doesn't have a real unique 'brand name', like some weapons or consumables have. (That Gun, Sugar Bombs). Jspoel Speech Jspoel 18:56, August 31, 2011 (UTC)
  • Thought hey, why not fix it while I'm checking it.
  • Journal entries stay uppercapped by the way. So Stealth Suit stays uppercapped there. And why did you remove that bug? Did you check it?

ED-E My LoveEdit

I did some backtracking and found the note added here. I think those unknown log entries are supposed to be a log 1 or 2 trigger event; the user who added it wasn't sure. The Mayes note is already very similar to a log 1 entry note. I suggest you check it by doing the quest. If nothing happens, you can remove it. Untill you checked it, don't remove it. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 19:16, September 1, 2011 (UTC)

Subsequent mention emphasis Edit

The only time a quest should really have italics, is in the infobox section or related quests section when it is a unmarked quest. User avatar tagUser Avatar talk 20:48, September 3, 2011 (UTC)

HOW DARE YOU! Edit

Just kidding. That's fine. I'll probably add it back to the item page as well, though, just to cover all the bases. Keep chugging away for the ole' Vault! BILLYOCEAN 21:33, September 3, 2011 (UTC)

F:NV EW ammo question. Edit

Ohhh god, that page is wrong on so many things. But to cover off the points you raised first. Yes it should include info on both recycling and conversion as it is characteristics of the actual item. But to be more specific, recycling should only be a mention, that spent energy cells have a chance to turn in drained small energy cell that can be recycled, with a link out to drained small energy cell, since it is actually that item that is recycled and not the energy cell itself. Which it does already with the sentence "After firing, drained energy cells can be retained and recycled at a workbench." This covers off recycling and doesn't require any more info (although recycling probably needs to be linked out to the crafting page for FNV)

As for conversion, yes it does require more info. But as that info is already contained on the Fallout: New Vegas crafting, it would be redundant to add it in on the item page. The best solution would be to transclude the info from the crafting page into the ammo page, using {{Transcludesection}}.

As for the rest of the page, the variants should be in a variants section and not in the characteristics section. The weapons using this ammunition should be a sub section of characteristics.

What I will do, is redo the Energy cell (Fallout: New Vegas) page, so you can use that as an example of what the others should look like, if you are happy with that. User avatar tagUser Avatar talk 16:37, September 8, 2011 (UTC)

I think that about does it. User avatar tagUser Avatar talk 17:35, September 8, 2011 (UTC)
Dont worry about it, also, do you feel comfortable using {{Transcludesection}} and {{Transcluded}} for the tables? If not, I can help out on those parts User avatar tagUser Avatar talk 17:50, September 8, 2011 (UTC)
Just a little thing, how many cells each weapon uses is a characteristic of the weapon and not the ammo. They should really be removed from the page. User avatar tagUser Avatar talk 20:14, September 8, 2011 (UTC)

Jury RiggingEdit

As it's already covered in the infobox, there's no need to include it in the body of the article, I even put more than half of those tags in myself. It's like including damage and clip capacity in the main body, we normally don't do that. Hugs MadeMan2 "Say 'ello to my little friend!"

It's not really "stripping bare" and it is a part of the, next to dead really, Jury Rigging Project. We're not really stripping down information, we're removing two lines of text that are unneeded. To follow my example, you wouldn't go about adding weapon damage or clip size into the "Characteristics" of a gun when there's an infobox, would you? The article is more about describing the weapon and its uses, the infobox is more technical data, and I consider this to be "technical data", and so does the admin that started the project, Crazy Sam10. I hope that shed some light on the situation. Hugs MadeMan2 "Say 'ello to my little friend!"

Jury Rigging Edit

First came to my attention today, I asked Scarface about it and he said to go ahead and delete it. Richie9999 13:58, September 14, 2011 (UTC)

Re: Quotation Marks Edit

Hey, no problem... I don't recall the edit you mentioned in particular, but the edits I was making mostly had to do with the punctuation being wrong - i.e., throughout that article, the periods were consistently outside of the quotation marks, "example". They belong inside the quotation marks, "example." But since I don't recall that particular edit ("home,") you have the benefit of the doubt as far as I'm concerned on that one. Thank you for letting me know, much appreciated! FalloutGirl talk 14:10, September 16, 2011 (UTC)

  • I just found that edit you made, and I am sorry but I do not agree with the edit; you reverted it to "home", with the comma outside of the quotation marks. That is not proper punctuation. I am the last one to want to argue a point with anyone, but I just wanted to add that I cannot say I agree with that particular edit, although I do appreciate you letting me know. (The administrators here can correct me if I'm wrong.)FalloutGirl talk 14:20, September 16, 2011 (UTC)
  • If you are speaking of the actual content in that edit, I actually did not make any edits to the content, that is, the wording; someone else worded it. I only edited the punctuation. Could it be that we are speaking of two totally different things here? Your wording looks good to me.FalloutGirl talk 14:25, September 16, 2011 (UTC)
  • Well, again, since I am relatively new here, I do not mess around a whole lot with the wording, unless I see something obviously wrong with it. I will leave the wording up to you, but I still maintain that any quotations used must have the punctuation inside of the quotes, so that is my only gripe, that those particular edits be left alone because I am almost positive they are correct (awaiting verification on that). I am not trying to be difficult on collaberating with the re-wording of the article together with you, but since I am new, the administrators have asked me not to overhaul or re-word major articles and I stay away from that, so if that's your forte, by all means, go for it...I am glad to meet your acquaintance and sorry we have gotten our wires crossed. Have a good day and see you around the Vault,

FalloutGirl talk 14:56, September 16, 2011 (UTC)

  • Yes, who would have known some quotations marks could set 3 people to work like that. But I think now it's like I said in my last post to Cat. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 15:39, September 16, 2011 (UTC)

Apologies Edit

It appears I was wrong, after all... My Apologies and I think it's best if you edit the page. Yours truly, FalloutGirl talk 15:44, September 16, 2011 (UTC)

  • Thank you and I appreciate what you said. You have been polite and nice, and I'm honored to have met you, among the other fine people here. Take care.

Thank you Edit

Hey there, No I don't think you were eavesdropping at all, and I didn't mean anything at all negative toward Jspoel; he is, in fact, one of my favorite people and a good admin that can get the stick out when needed, and yet has been compassionate and welcoming toward me since I've been here.

I just wanted to thank you for your comments; it was just a bad morning for me, and I got over it, but I really appreciate the fact that you took out the time to read my story and that you are also rooting me on here. Being a newer member, it is hard sometimes. I do get a little over-sensitive due to what you read in the blog.

Thanks for being here, I'm glad to know another nice person here on the Vault and I think it's great that we can both have our differences and be cool with each other (I didn't know you were in a different country). Nice to know a new friend. Take care and see you around the Vault, FalloutGirl talk 18:24, September 16, 2011 (UTC)

HeavyweightEdit

You can add it as a note on the page, not in the infobox. Although there is room for perks there, they are all based on attack damage of the weapon, and Heavyweight doesn't fit well there, being a passive perk. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 16:53, September 18, 2011 (UTC)

  • My view on things like this is, that such things as perks are not characteristics of the actual weapon. They are simply optional that the player can choice. If we was to include such things, the variants would be endless with all the perk variants that could affect weapons in various way. Add in things like consumables, which are essentially temp perks, and the page would be more about strategy than the actual weapon itself. Personally I would not include it at all. Industrial HandEdit

Hello my friend ;)

Yes I agree (I saw two of them in my game for now), the page needed to be renamed, I took care of that, thank you for pointing that out =). Have a nice evening FourWayDiablo! Itachou [~talk~] 17:37, September 23, 2011 (UTC)

Hum... actually on other wiki where I contribute and I'm not an admin, you can rename almost any pages. The option should be in the edit tab, but if you can't do it, well I don't know, probably a unique feature here or something requiring to be an admin to do.
Pages can never have their first letter in lowercase, and Industrial Hand redirect to Industrial hand =).
I really enjoy Lonesome Road for the moment, all in all, it's now my favorite FNV add-ons before Honest Hearts. Hehe don't spoil me too much =D, I'm in the Cave of the Abaddon for now, I have all ED-E upgrade and 5/6 Ulysses' log. The scenery and atmosphere are absolutely great and some areas like the area with the Sunstone Tower roof with many destroyed skyscrapers reminds me of what might have been to the Boneyard in 3D with its devastated skyscrapers, reduced to their metal "skeleton", the former city of Los Angeles named Boneyard after the Great War because of them. Creatures like the marked men and the tunnelers are nice too, especially the marked men, pain and understanding of it can united even the most different men.
Ulysses is really a well created character, reminds me Joshua Graham a bit, both are affable and erudite men, fond of quoting, having a deep, very dry and inspired voice and both speaking in a bookish manner with a philosophical way. Since Joshua Graham is one of my favorite characters in the Fallout universe and in any artistic medium I experienced, I can only like Ulysses who sweats charisma just with his voice. Stealth Edit Edit

Hi there!
Thanks you for catching that mistake on my part. I am hoping we are both on the same page on that one edit - that would be the edit in the Nash Residence in Primm (the one in which I listed the cabinet that held other items, right?). If so, I've cleaned that up. If not, let me know what I'm missing. Hope you are doing well and thanks again! =)

PS. If you find that I am not seeing what you're seeing, for some reason, be my guest and edit it. Thanks again, you are a great example to other members here, both new (like me, lol) and veteran members. Keep up the great work! FalloutGirl talk 06:18, September 24, 2011 (UTC)

Hey there! Edit

Hey there!
Good to hear from you! :o) Yes, regarding looking over reverts, perhaps I should just not look, lol. But then again, that's not a very good way to learn, is it? Gotta pull my head out of the sand every once in a while ;o)
Like you, I also started a new game for verification purposes, because my other had reached level 45. Regarding editing, I try to do the same thing with my contributions, without sending the person who's looking for the information on a wild goose-chase trying to find the item(s) or how many of them there are, etc. Not much is more frustrating from the reader's standpoint. I wish more people were as thoughtful as you are in that respect. But I don't have much to complain about. There are so many really nice people here at the Vault who care a great deal about the game and who care about doing something to help others for free, no strings attached; in this economy that's a pretty big deal. You're right too, to give yourself a break. It's nice just to play the game, isn't it? ;o)
As for those extra points you asked me about... I sure hope they don't require a "yes" answer....I guess I'm one of the few that has not gotten the Lonesome Road DLC yet (and yes, I really wanted to get it the day it came out, but couldn't, due to having an out-of-state emergency earlier in the month and then a birthday for a friend on the 20th - the exact day the DLC came out!!! *sigh* I am so looking forward to it, too. Oh well, maybe by the time I get it, some bugs will be worked out, if there are any. Have you gotten to play it yet? If so, how do you like it? (Can't wait to hear your thoughts if you have gotten it... :)
FalloutGirl talk 19:13, September 24, 2011 (UTC)

PS. What was your favorite DLC so far? Mine was "Old World Blues" ~ but I love, love, love the weapons from Dead Money, not to mention Vera's outfit! =D

P.P.S. How many points do I get? =P

Industrial HandEdit

Normal difficulty, unarmed at 80, level 34, full on fighting. I'm not sure why it is happening, but it is still going on. I'll continue to see it it happens. I only have Lonesome Road and Old World Blues DLCs added, perhaps it's a bug thanks to those, combined with removing the updates.

I think it may just be any melee/unarmed weapon that attacks continuously. I checked the ripper, as well as the chainsaw and thermic lance. No damage until the end, then a massive damage amount accompanied by one hit kills. Maybe it's just that my character is 'ahead of his level'? --"If war doesn't change, men must change, and so must their symbols." 03:59, September 26, 2011 (UTC)

Battle of willsEdit

Hi FourWayDiablo ;)!

Yeah I finished Lonesome Road and it remains my favorite FNV add-ons. Ulysses is really pretty hard to kill at any difficult level. I tried all endings but I have chosen to make peace with him and I nuked the Caesar's Legion. Globally the DLC really had very good ideas, especially the feature to nuke Long 15 or Dry Wells that unlock new areas (all DLC should have done something like that - unlock at least one area after the end of the DLC, it's rather nice to see some other region).

Ulysses is a really good character, but I always prefer Joshua Graham, especially for his side "servant of God" and the fact that Joshua firmly believes in what he thinks without doubt, unlike Ulysses, which seems lost in this post-apocalyptic world after the Divide, tortured to not being able to find a solution for make a peaceful community. But like I said, both are really similar, two others thing I noted which shows their similarities, both were skilled member of the Caesar's Legion and both have remorse for their actions with the Legion. New Enemies, Old Enemies, and Points! Edit

Hello!

Don't worry -- you didn't give any spoilers away =D I'm still happily awaiting the DLC and I am looking forward to all of the new weapons, loot, and enemies! I will definitely let you know when you can talk :) I tried not to look at the Lonesome Road edits to the right too; but luckily, there wasn't too much on 'em that gave anything away on the one or two I did peek at, lol.

I think Old World Blues would be a difficult one to beat as far as favorite DLCs go, for me too. I loved the atmosphere of it, all the imagination that went into it - the "experiments," the "Doctors" (Dr. Mobius, 0, Klein, poor 8, etc.) and even details such as the Y-2 Trauma Override Harnesses, etc. It felt like a complete world, vastly separate from the Fallout New Vegas universe, yet still in line with everything we've come to expect from their DLCs so far. The characters, from Muggy to the Light Switches to Dr. Mobius were just the best, the world was truly immersive, and it was the only New Vegas DLC I really didn't want to finish when it came down to it. And that place really put the Lucky 38 and every other house to shame when it comes down to it... it had it all and then some, lol.

Like you, I used to not be a huge energy weapons fan, then I tried leveling it up for kicks this last go-round. With my current Level 45 character, her skills are energy weapons and melee; but I've played around with just about all the different fighting styles. However, going unarmed against a nest of cazadors or deathclaws is a different matter. =P (Although I'm sure it could be done, just for the sake of being done, but I'm not going to be the one to try it, lol.)

Now it seems like I've run out of edits over the past couple of days. Ever have those moments? Well, it's past 4 a.m. over here and I'm rambling on. Good to hear from you, and maybe it's even daytime over there. If so, have a good day and hope to hear more from you soon! After all, there is still that "points system" to work out, right? =)~ FalloutGirl talk 11:16, September 26, 2011 (UTC)

I Wish :) Edit

No... I didn't make it, so I can't take the credit on that one. I was trying to create a background with her on it, but sort of failed miserably, lol. How are you doing? I hope all is well! Thanks for the compliment on the pic (even tho' I didn't make it, lol) and it's always nice to know someone out there is saying hi :o)
FalloutGirl talk 13:58, October 5, 2011 (UTC)

  • Yes, Vera Keyes =)

Sierra Madre Edit

I love all the pics of Vera. I also love the song she does on the soundtrack, "Begin Again," I think it is. I do think it looks like she's in the Prospector's Saloon... strange, lol.

I am enjoying myself at the Vault, meeting like-minded people and getting edits done when I can, although these last 2 days have been kicking my butt as far as getting anything done.

That dress that you'll be getting is my favorite outfit in the entire game =D Get both if you can, I'm sure you knew there were two copies. If not, now you do =P

No saves in the Sierra Madre, unfortunately. I did the Dead Money dlc before ever coming to the Vault to do edits, so I never thought about having a save there, but that is a great idea. I am working on a second character (ever so slowly!) so maybe then, but I'm not quite certain it won't all be filled in by then. Also, I am going to be going onto Lonesome Road soon so you'll be able to talk =P

Hope you have fun with the Dead Money DLC, there are some great weapons and loot to be had there.

Good hearing from you :o)
FalloutGirl talk 14:39, October 5, 2011 (UTC)

  • Oops, read too fast and just realized you got back from Sierra Madre! Did you get all the gold? I'm so tired, I've been up 24 hours and literally seeing red, so I'm not too functional right now, can you tell? lol

Moral Lessons Edit

I don't blame you for not wanting to sell the gold. I didn't either.

Cass hated me. No idea why ;o) As for the song, I hear it over and over on the Mysterious Broadcast. Almost 'too much' but I like it, so it's fine by me...

My only regret leaving Sierra Madre (I only played through once; it sounds like you're more experienced) was that I didn't grab enough of the Cosmic Knives. I do like those. I think I only got a couple, but not enough to do all the cool stuff with, like make those knife spears. I was kinda bummed about that. C'est la vie. Live & Learn, next time, I will be doing a "FourWayDiablo" and hauling more than I can carry out of there, =P

Yes, indeed. Those games are important and my life is getting in the way, lol. Right now I am just wondering why I am still awake O.O

Hoarding Edit

I am the same way, anything that is not nailed down is going into my inventory =D I have Pack Rat + Heavyweight, so I'm quite the pack rat myself.

I will definitely think about another play-through...I already have a low-level character I can do that with (I think it's a level 4) - and after Lonesome Road, my level 45 character won't have anything else to do :)~

I got some sleep (finally!) and have avoided sitting too close to the screen, as per the manual, lol. I hope you're doing good and not getting into too much trouble... =P
FalloutGirl talk 07:16, October 6, 2011 (UTC)

  • Good point, never thought about that. See, that's why I have you here to remind me about these things for... you know, considering you'd never do anything that nerdy or anything... :)~ Besides, I really didn't like that character anyway =P
  • Hmm?? Online perk list? What is this you speak of...? I mean, didn't speak of! (of course, you didn't say anything about such a thing ;o)

Hey there. I'm pretty certain that I've always found he drops either plain jane blood sausage or nothing at all on the x360 version. Unfortunately, I am not at a point now where I can double check. I'll leave the page as it is unless I find different on my next playthrough. Cheers o/ --DeadlyPrey 02:46, October 8, 2011 (UTC)

So, ya wanna share your secret? lol ...Jspoel told me you can do that, and you can also put tiny images next to your sig (I'm sure you've seen those) but I don't know how to do either one. AshtonEdit

You are correct, bullets aren't generally necessary in layouts; paragraphs will suffice. As for the Notable loot section, I noticed that the eyebot circuit board was displayed but didn't have any direction on how to get to it (which is the norm in loot sections). So I literally copied and pasted the directions from the Eyebot upgrade circuit board page to the loot section. I know, pretty dumb move on my part, eh? I was just trying to get the circuit board info up. --Kastera (talk) 15:53, October 9, 2011 (UTC)

By all means, rewrite it. I would say remove the eyebot circuit board location from the general layout. --Kastera (talk) 16:09, October 9, 2011 (UTC)

1000!Edit

Happy 1000 edits! Hugs MadeMan2 "Say 'ello to my little friend!"

To be honest I just happened to notice it by chance, and decided to congratulate! Same here, though, I've been active on the Vault every day since the Achievements started (they lost meaning really quick, tbh), only reason that damn day counter reset was due to time zone differences (shakes fist). Hugs MadeMan2 "Say 'ello to my little friend!"
It is, isn't it? I think Porter made them hypnotising in some way. After all, they call him a "coding wizard"... Hugs MadeMan2 "Say 'ello to my little friend!"

Shhh...It's a Secret Edit

I figured you'd try to keep it your secret, lol. After all, you are always the one saying "Mine!" and picking up everything that is not nailed down =P Maybe even the things that are nailed down!

But in all seriousness, yes, that was very easy. Thank you muchly for helping me figure it out. I cycled through some of the various colors, but ironically, I liked the color you picked out the most :o) So I went with that one (at least thus far).

I'm still trying to figure out how to put an image next to it, that is just frustrating, since I can't figure that one out. Jspoel left me some good instructions but I still haven't gotten the hang of it. Anyway, glad you decided to share your secret and I do like the new color you chose, I think it's what I would have chose! Thanks again. Take care and talk with you soon!

Oh C'mon, Just One More Secret? Edit

I knew you were gonna regret telling me all your secrets, oh and the one about the moon landings, I'm in on that one too ;o) I think that leaves only your secret of eternal youth. So what is it? I'll be waiting on that one!

Thanks, yeah maybe I should change the color...but I couldn't decide. I had originally liked the color you picked, then for some reason the name itself changed to red and stayed that way no matter what I did (weird), and that looked good too, but I dunno...what colors are there, were you going by some color chart? If so I will need that secret too. =P

I agree - Jspoel's info was helpful on making the little images (although it took me forever and then I still needed help! Yes-Man came to the rescue at the last second) so finally, I'm glad to be done with it so I can concentrate on more important things like, I don't know, getting you to spill your secrets? ;o)

Simple is good, and I like your signature the way it is. It suits you.

Cookie? Edit

Oh noooo. I didn't think I was insulting you! I'm sorry... I've been up all night as per usual, it's going on 8:30 am here, and I am pretty tired, so maybe I didn't word that right, but I still think the green suits you as I've said before. That is what I meant. Still, here is a cookie, so you feel better. It seems you like cookies, from your profile icon. lol

I only did the red because I thought it fit with the Marilyn Monroe image, you know, what with the pin-up style and all (red, black, and white) But I guess I could see that some might see it as angry, though I never really thought of that before ... I found out by accident, that if you do brown, it appears as a bit darker color of red, almost a rust color. Maybe that is an idea for now. I tried the orange, the purple, the pink (too light), the violet (nice but doesn't seem to go with my image, altho' great by itself), and I think all the rest you mentioned. Including black as you noticed =P

I agree: the last color choice you gave looks horrible, and the only one I haven't tried thus far. haha!

Ah, I like your courier's name! Fitting. My courier's name, Scarlett, sort of has the same retro feel. And since I'm from the South originally, well, it was sort of a natural fit. And yes, Marilyn fits that timeline, plus I personally love her, so both were my reasons for using her for my talk image.

Well, maybe I can get 1,000 edits too if it's working for you so well in these conversations =P j/k

You should think about doing a little image next to yours. Maybe a star cookie? No idea where I got that from. But yes, you should do an image... Call it initiation =P
FalloutGirl MM01 15:28, October 10, 2011 (UTC)
Above is the brown, in case you wanted to see what that looked like instead of red

Ulysses maskEdit

Rooting around through the history, I think I found the source. Before LR came out, the page was called 'Ulysses costume'. It was then moved to 'Ulysses outfit'. After the release, people assumed that that the entire outfit (duster and mask) were to be included there. Obviously, this shouldn't be the case, so I am giving you permission to change the Ulysses mask page from a redirect to an actual content page. --Kastera (talk) 23:36, October 10, 2011 (UTC)

You didn't have to create "Ulysses' mask 1". I assume you couldn't get to the redirect page? All you have to do is click on the link below the page you were redirected to and it will take you the redirect page. I've already transferred the data to the page, so this info is for future use if you need to use it again. Otherwise, good job! --Kastera (talk) 23:56, October 10, 2011 (UTC)
Redirect pages don't show up in the search bar, so after having changed one to a content page, the system has to cache this, so Ulysses mask won't show up in the search bar for a few hours. Check back in later and I'm 99% sure that it will show up. --Kastera (talk) 00:12, October 11, 2011 (UTC)

RedirectsEdit

From what I see, you didn't create the page (Ulysses' mask); you created "Ulysses mask 1", which would be a different page than the former. When I said I transferred the data, I meant I copied the content from Ulysses' mask 1 and pasted in on Ulysses mask, totally getting rid of the #REDIRECT template on the redirect page, thus making it a content page instead of a redirect. Afterward, I deleted Ulysses' mask 1. Did I hit on your questions, or am I just as confused as you are? --Kastera (talk) 01:47, October 11, 2011 (UTC)

OK, I'm going to put this in the most simple terms I can (for your sake and for mine):
When you attempted to create Ulysses' mask, you couldn't because the page already existed. The page did exist, but it was not in the mainspace. It was a redirect page which still counts as a page, so another page of the same title could not be created. In order for Ulysses' mask (the content page) to be made, the redirect page would have had to be be a) deleted, or b) edited. In order to be edited, you would have to find the actual page with the redirect coding.
I am going to now use an example: the Hunting rifle page. If you were to type in "Hunting rifle" (note the capital R) into the search bar, you would be redirected to "Hunting rifle" (lowercased r). However, there is a message underneath the page title that will say "Redirected from Hunting Rifle". Clicking on that link (Hunting Rifle) would bring you to a page that looks similar to this: #REDIRECT Hunting rifle. From there, you can edit it like any page, so you can remove the redirect coding and put in the content that you want.
The same goes for Ulysses' mask. It was redirected to Ulysses' duster, but when you were redirected to Ulysses' duster, there was a link you could follow which would bring you to "Ulysses' mask" that had this coding on it: #REDIRECT Ulysses' duster. From there, I went into edit mode on that page, copied the text from Ulysses' mask 1 and pasted it there. That way, it stopped redirecting users to the duster page, because it no longer had the code. Do you understand now? --Kastera (talk) 02:32, October 11, 2011 (UTC)
I felt it would be better to over explain it once than "underexplain" it three times :P. As for not being computer minded, I myself wasn't computer minded when I had 1,000 edits either. You just have to be around for a while and you eventually pick stuff up. I'm still asking GhostAvatar how do technical stuff from time to time. Glad we worked this out. --Kastera (talk) 02:48, October 11, 2011 (UTC)

hi again Edit

Complete lack of reasoning on my part. I thought I tried the link and it simply went to the top of the page, though I guess it could just be my browser lagging. I simply edited it to be more economical with characters. My bad!--DeadlyPrey(talk) 03:19, October 11, 2011 (UTC)

Erp, yeah--rechecking, that's exactly what it does on my end, just stays at the top of the linked page. Am I missing something? --DeadlyPrey(talk) 03:24, October 11, 2011 (UTC)

Aye, site's been acting funny on my end as well. Guess it's just part and parcel.  --DeadlyPrey(talk) 03:43, October 11, 2011 (UTC)

Post-Apocalyptic Cookies and Wine Edit

Well, good - it's good to be forgiven and | shall have to bake you 99 more, so that you will have 100 cookies to go with your 100 bottles of wine. Unless you already ate... well, no, you didn't ... did you??

Ok, I will take your word for it on the color to use for now, especially since it was one I already liked anyhow =P Your right: post-apocalyptic rusty is the perfect color description.

Anyway, make sure you don't pick up any more bottles of wine out there in the Wasteland, because my cookie baking limit is 100, and I wouldn't want you to have to eat cookies without wine. Kinda a strange taste combination, but not as strange as that radroach you ate earlier ;o)

Flour Thievery Edit

Ah... what dusty footprints? I... well, I'm sure that it must be a case of mistaken identity! After all, there are a lot of flour vandals in the Wastes! I should know, lol.

Ooooh, yes, the Katana ~ I love it! I am going to get the Mad Bomber perk on my next rank-up, which hopefully should be soon (still on level 45). I can't wait to make the Nuka-Grenade, I love those (good memories from Fallout 3). Trust me, I never use my weapons when I'm drunk on your...I mean, my wine ;o)

Old World Blues is my favorite too...I've been short on gameplay time, so I haven't gotten to see if Lonesome Road is my 2nd favorite yet. I've heard good things about it, and if you think it's good, it must be good =D

Yes, Marilyn has shrunk way too much :( They wouldn't let me keep it to the original size. I don't wanna break the rules... well ~ unless it comes to stealing flour and wine! ~ so I had to make it tiny, and I do think it looks too tiny. Oh well, what can ya do? I do like your idea of putting the the larger pic of Marilyn on my page. I'm really bad at formatting my page, but I think I will give it a try. I really like that pic, but it just doesn't look like it should in my sig. I still think you should put a star-shaped cookie into your sig line =P

EditsEdit

Not bad man, just a small suggestion. Perhaps "This weapon must be crafted" might be a bit to bland on information and might confuse inexperienced players. Perhaps you could add the ingredients with which said item may be created and for example, a little clue where you may craft this item (such as "at a workbench"). Other than that, i dont have a problem with it.(Nemerian 20:08, October 19, 2011 (UTC))

You have a point with the locations, but there isn't really a need for a "locations" section in a craftable items page, as the location is only where the player makes it to be.

I very much agree with this format, it appears very professional, good work man.(Nemerian 20:34, October 19, 2011 (UTC))

Crafting Edit

I had actually forgot about that. I added it as a stop gap measure to stop people creating a page for the GRA bottlecap mine. I was going to go back and look at transcluding the info (from the crafting page) as I did with the energy weapons ammo (example: Microfusion cell, Energy cell and Electron charge pack. That might be something you might want to look into, although I got a feeling that the table would be to wide to work with the longer weapons infobox. But otherwise, it looks very good indeed User avatar tagUser Avatar talk 21:27, October 19, 2011 (UTC)

The benefits of transcluding is that only one page needs to be updated. So if a patch comes out for example, you don't have to manually change every other page. As for the table, they could technically be under either section, as long as it is consistent across the board. But having its own section goes against the layout guidelines and doesn't give consistency across all item pages. If you move them down to the locations section, you might need to do so for the ammo pages as well. User avatar tagUser Avatar talk 21:58, October 19, 2011 (UTC)
  • Do you need any help with this little project or are you good on your own? --Kastera (talk) 23:45, October 20, 2011 (UTC)
  • If ammo's the problem, I would open a forum topic and ask around The Vault. I personally think that adding the crafting table similar to what you're doing with the food/drink would be the way to go. Crafting anything is really all just the same process, just different ingredients and a different medium. The table that caters to all ammo types (in your sandbox, .45 Auto, .45 Auto +P, and .45 Auto Spr HL) would be the way to go, since it removes a lot of empty space that would otherwise be in there with separate crafting tables. I'll start on the chems if your finishing up the food/drink. --Kastera (talk) 16:09, October 21, 2011 (UTC)

Crafting doneEdit

Looks like all the crafting info is done... except for the ammo, that is. But we'll deal with that later. Nice working with you. --Kastera (talk) 19:31, October 21, 2011 (UTC)

Fat Man (GRA)Edit

This is how I see it. Looks good to me. Try a recach with Ctrl-F5.

  • I don't see the problem. I think it's supposed to do that. It's better than moving the whole table to below the infobox, leaving a large blank space.
Well, we have 2 choices. Either we displays the whole table, without the clicking on it to display it (but it will be forced down the page to below the infobox). Or we go with the overlapping and only show part of the table that can only been seen if clicked on by the reader. User avatar tagUser Avatar talk 20:33, October 22, 2011 (UTC)
You can move the title down as well by placing the {{clear}} template above the title. User avatar tagUser Avatar talk 20:44, October 22, 2011 (UTC)

No notable? Edit

How is my note not notable? Gehenna is a valley said to have had flames that never got out, and the limbs severed by the weapon don't go out. If this isn't notable, what is? --Felix BrehhUser Avatar talk 22:55, October 22, 2011 (UTC)

Sorry Edit

Had you mistaken, either way, that guy shouldn't delete notes he thinks aren't necessary, anything about the weapon should be added ,no matter how obvious or common it is. Sorry again for mistaking you.--Felix BrehhUser Avatar talk 23:45, October 22, 2011 (UTC)

Happy birthday to youEdit

Well, waddaya now. Just browsing a bit through recent changes and taking a look at your profile by coincidence. It's your birthday! Let me be the first one to congratulate you. Hope you have a nice day. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 00:00, October 23, 2011 (UTC)

  • I'd say invite some friends over and skip FNV for a day. Thanks for the cake, I like cake.

Let me be the second... Edit

to say Happy Birthday! lol I don't usually look at people's birthdays, but since it's already out there, I hope you have a great weekend! --Felix BrehhUser Avatar talk 00:32, October 23, 2011 (UTC)

Day late, but...Edit

...it's the thought that counts, right? Sorry about missing your day; I never thought anyone would have their birthday on the day of the Great War. How does it feel knowing the bombs are going to drop on your birthday? --Kastera (talk) 16:29, October 23, 2011 (UTC)

That creepy guy... Edit

Just happened to be stalking your profile and noticed it was your birthday! So I wish you the best and that you will have a day full of cake and debauchery. ;) Skål! 18:42, October 23, 2011 (UTC)

This is disappointing news...disappointing indeed. Sounds like we need to get you hooked up to the extra spicy slim-jims. (Hopefully you've seen these commercials and my joke doesn't go to waste.) Skål! 18:58, October 23, 2011 (UTC)

Happy (belated) BirthdayEdit

I noticed that it was your birtday around 11 UTC last night, but then my internet dropped so I couldn't say happy birthday. However, I have returned to say it. Happy Birthday. TheGuardianCalligraphyGuardianoftheWastesTag 11:55, October 24, 2011 (UTC)

Why? Did Jspoel eat it all? ;) TheGuardianCalligraphyGuardianoftheWastesTag 15:52, October 24, 2011 (UTC)
It seems very much that way ;). Thanks a lot though, Diablo (FourWay sounds like a suggestion), same goes for you :). TheGuardianCalligraphyGuardianoftheWastesTag 19:48, October 26, 2011 (UTC)

Sub-categoriesEdit

Woah, did I? Am soz if i did but i clearly put "this weapon is a improvised grenade". If i did sorry, was a bit tired. Also about the sub-categories, i think that most if not all such pages should have said categories in order to bring the articles to a "professional" status.(Nemerian 21:17, October 25, 2011 (UTC))

Honestly, I don't think they are necessary in this case. The only one that really needs a level 3 heading is the crafting, as it isn't actually a direct characteristic of the weapon, more of how to make the weapon which is a subsection of the main characteristics. But then again, they are not wrong either, it is just a matter of personal preference. User avatar tagUser Avatar talk 20:20, October 26, 2011 (UTC)
  • GhostAvatar already gave his opinion, I thought that would be enough for you. But since you're putting the pressure on me ;) I'll give my view. I think for such short characteristics the subcats specification and game attributes is not needed. Just put it all under characteristics like on the Fat mine (Mad Bomber) (GRA) page. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 18:43, October 27, 2011 (UTC)
  • If the specifications have reasonable content, then the header can stay on my account. If it's very short (one line), then remove the specifications header and place the content directly under chars. Same a bit for attributes. Can be looked at on a case to case base.

Esther Edit

Not a problemEdit

I was just trying to find a way to make it read easier. There's gotta be a better way to re-write that portion of the page so it seems to make a little more sense. I would have reverted the edit, or re-written it again but I had a serious case of multitasking with 4 other windows open at the time. No hard feelings brother. RoccoFinesse 01:56, November 1, 2011 (UTC)

You could always try something like "Although unique for a weapon" or "One characteristic that makes Esther unique, and sets it apart from other weapons is" RoccoFinesse 22:41, November 1, 2011 (UTC)

Much. I am a huge fan of clarity, and I am really OCD about grammar and spelling. This leads me to avoid reading my profile, as I would be editing it all damn night! Cheers mate! RoccoFinesse 22:50, November 1, 2011 (UTC)

If you're all about clarity and spelling you may want to edit your last message ony my talk page... :) RoccoFinesse 23:00, November 1, 2011 (UTC)

Disguised FrumentariusEdit

I couldn't find anything specific to this in the policy, but I think it can stay, as an exception. He appearantly is one of the very few named characters that can spawn throughout the Mojave Wasteland and be attacked on sight. He also starts a quest so a little help to respawn him is allowed in this case, as far as I'm concerned. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 19:51, November 7, 2011 (UTC)

  • I added the popup note back into the notes section. It's not really strategy, more of an administrative help along the way, I think.
  • For normal gameplay it's not intended to resurrect characters, but adding console commands to the game is certainly helpful to fix all kinds of things and can come in handy at times. I use the ~tm command a lot to remove the HUD from images.

Troll, lolwut?Edit

What is your purpose for posting that troll "thing" on my page? Are you the one who did it, or something else? Please explain.(Nemerian 08:34, November 13, 2011 (UTC))

Ah, thanks for clearing that out, i really was stumped and rather shocked.(Nemerian 04:41, November 14, 2011 (UTC))

RE: Merchant Layout Edit

The layout looks reasonable, though I'm not sure mixing services and inventory offerings by alphabetizing that portion of the table is the best approach. I'd check other tables for how to provide uniform standardization. Many tables also abbreviate titles with yes/no columns to keep them uniform, and precede the table with legend to clarify them. It looks good though. I've wanted to put something like that up for a while. I've just been struggling to find time. You put a lot of work into the table you made. I say use it.

Also, after I drew up that example table I realized that I missed a couple(serveral) things.

1. Repair services are probably better identified by the number of points the merchant has in that skill. So readers will know the quality of the merchant's ability.
2. I hadn't fully thought out how to represent inventory categories where the merchant can only sell items from a category that are sold to them but never stock that category on their own. For instance doctors and food vendors usually never sell weapons, but occasionally some will display what is sold to them and allow those items to be bought back.
3. How to cite merchants with full or partial shared inventory.

I'm not sure how to represent those factors while still keeping the table uniform and uncluttered by subtext notation and footnotes. If you can think of a good approach to do so, put it in, or let me know and I'll try to do it.--Xclockwatcher 01:34, November 15, 2011 (UTC)

Alternating background color shading is a good plan. It would bring it inline with most other tables. You could probably post the table the way you have it arranged now though, as long as the content is at least complete as the existing table. Since you're focusing on the FO:NV merchant list, you may want to consider adding a column for faction reputation requirements. If you're not sure about whether it's ready, post a portion of it on the talk page for broader feedback. It's likely no matter how refined it is, other contributors will continue adjusting it as time goes on. It is the wiki way. --Xclockwatcher 02:46, November 16, 2011 (UTC)

It looks good. I already see a couple things for my to do list there though. I sorted the list by location and noticed a couple missing merchants:) Good work, assembling what's there took a lot of effort doing. I'm working on a little project right now for another page, so refining the table is down on the list. I'm mapping the spawn points for random encounters, that's kind of how I started looking at the merchant page(I needed the caravan map). I didn't intend to shoot my mouth off to get someone else to re-table the merchant list I just had my hands full with this... --Xclockwatcher 02:58, November 17, 2011 (UTC)

I'm console impaired(ie. impaired by owning one) so I'm editing as I go. It's mostly just verifying the current content. I usually only make edits when something small isn't covered. Thank for the pat on the back. --Xclockwatcher 04:26, November 17, 2011 (UTC)

MerchantEdit

Splitting the page into "Fallout 3 merchants" and "Fallout: New Vegas merchants" sounds like a good move. You can just create a new page for them and afterward I can tweak the Merchant to be an overview page. Just let me know. --Kastera (talk) 23:51, November 16, 2011 (UTC)

  • Better make it Merchant instead of Merchants. Otherwise good work, I like those tables in your sandbox! Jspoel Speech Jspoel 00:22, November 17, 2011 (UTC)
  • I'll take a look at it tomorrow or friday.
No, thank you (and Clockwatcher) for cleaning up the merchants page. It was due for a clean up. --Kastera (talk) 04:13, November 17, 2011 (UTC)

If you're still feeling ambitious... Edit

All the NPCs that should be in the table can be found here:Category:Fallout 3 merchants and Category:Fallout 3 doctors. Also, I tripped over this page: Fallout 3 doctors which should be more accurate. I didn't check to see if there were any conflicts but you can imagine how things could get contentious since some doctors don't have merchant inventories. It may be they only need a 'For Doctors Also See' section with a link. Screw it I'm on that.

Also, I didn't mean to undo the table style, I just wanted to get the missing content in. Sorry. --Xclockwatcher 04:27, November 17, 2011 (UTC)

Hover textEdit

Honestly, Porter would be able to solve this problem much easier than me, but I'll try my best. I'll play around with some code and see if anything comes up. I've really never had much of a problem with this, but I can see where the confusion can come up. --Kastera (talk) 04:38, November 17, 2011 (UTC)

Was just about to reply to your message, but that's kind of redundant now since Jspoel already posted below. As he said, your best bet is using the tooltip parameter. -- Porter21 (talk) 21:14, November 17, 2011 (UTC)

MerchantsEdit

I've changed my mind about the merchants pages. The main overview page, Merchant had links to other game overview pages and not so much to a specific merchant character. In other words, it can be more compared to for example the Companion page. Therefore, I've changed the overview navbox on the Merchant page and renamed Merchant (Fallout) to Fallout merchants and so on. And I've given the merchants a prominent place in overview navboxes, like here: {{Navbox overviews FO1}}. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 12:16, November 17, 2011 (UTC)

I read your question to Kastera about hover text. You need to change {{yes}} to {{icon|yes|tooltip=ammo}} for ammo etc. I've done it for the first three on the Fallout 3 merchants page, I hope you can do the rest. And you could add a legend, like on the Fallout: New Vegas characters page, explaining busines hours, med services, rents bed/room etc. a bit more.
Good luck with that. It's not the most fun job, but it will give a nice result. If I were you, I'd select what you have changed, copy that with Ctrl-C and then save, just to be safe. Someone might just edit it while you're working on it and you will have an edit conflict. You never now (I won't edit it).

Re: AmbitionsEdit

If you're asking me if I'd prefer dashes to noIcon cross's, I'd stick with the noIcon cross's. The green check marks totally contrast with the red X's, which highlights the services that that specific character does and make it stand out to the reader more. The dashes would probably achieve the same effect, but to a lesser extent. Plus, all other tables of this sort use an array of green checks and red X's, so for uniformity's sake, I would keep them like they are already. --Kastera (talk) 14:33, November 17, 2011 (UTC)
