G.O.A.T. QuestionEdit

Yes, Future Imperfect is when you do the G.O.A.T. exam

Glitch Pages=Edit

Is it welcome to create a list of known glitches in Fallout 1 and 2 on this Wiki? Todd the Ripper

Article CleanupsEdit

Just a basic policy question; I know different wikis have different approaches for this. Once an article on the list has been cleaned up, is it submitted for review before the cleanup tag is removed, or does the author scrape it off when the cleanup is, in their view, finished? -Vaultbuilder talk

Merge Rewrite?Edit

Ausir, I was just looking through the stub article list, and found separate entries for Citizenship and Citizenship test, both of which in reference to Vault City. I was planning on rewriting the Citizenship article anyway, so do you want me to incorporate the test into the Citizenship article? That way, you can delete the one stub article (the test), and yet have a stronger single article in place of two stubs. Let me know what appeals -Vaultbuilder talk

EDIT: Okay, I just reviewed the Vault City article and realized that there isn't really a good reason to keep citizenship broken out into a separate article at all. Here's my current plan: add a section into the main Vault City article detailing the three levels of society, with inclusions on provisions for visiting the city (touching on the Day pass but leaving the bulk of that information for its own, existing article), and procedures for becoming a citizen. This lumps the two existing stubs into a more logical place and gives a better flow and symmetry to the article. The material in the Vault City article is good as it stands, so most (if not all) of it would be left alone, just reorganized into sections for ease of read. Since this is somewhat of a major proposed overhaul to a core article, I thought it'd be best to send the idea up the flagpole before forging ahead and getting myself in trouble.

Tables and TemplatesEdit

One more stupid question, then I'll try to stop pestering you. To you know of any good how-to, tutorial, or FAQ pages on the creation of tables and templates? I'd like to create a standardized infotable for general inventory items, just to serve as a quick reference so that a reader doesn't need to slog through the article text for the vital statistics. I see that we have templates built for chems, weapons, and ammunition, but none for books and miscellaneous items. Thought it might be useful.

PS: Why "Ausir?" Does it mean something specific? -Vaultbuilder talk

EDIT: Okay, I have two prototype templates built. They're living on my new testbed page (didn't want to damage the Vault as a whole in case there was a meltdown). When you get the chance, hop on over to User_Sandbox:Vaultbuilder and tell me what you think. -Vaultbuilder talk

Addendum: Thanks for the compliments, Master O' the Wiki! And thanks for moving the page - I took my own lead and tried not to do any damage. While I'm at the creativity thing, do you want some user boxes for folks to spruce up their pages some? I have an oddball sense of humor, so I can smack some together if you like. They're just one-celled tables, right? -Vaultbuilder talk

  1. May be template for JM Fallout PnP coul be useful (I have reffered it at Scrapheap article also).
  2. Second useful template can be section stub, Wikipedia has one (some ideas are more proper for filling a section, then whole article, article structure with stub sections can be helpful also).

Templates petitionEdit

Would you like to think about template for Fallout Bible and add Vault Boy to template for F3?--dotz 16:05, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Quest infoboxEdit

Mmm. That looks a lot nicer, don't you think? Thankees-hash

Ouroboros numberEdit

In November 2005 I loaded vb_ouroboros file (size after unrar is the same). Again - inside document is no information about its cue number. I have checked all "6" with ctrl+F. So somebody in NMA, who named Ouroboros file with "06" could tell us something about this issue (what was the source of number). BTW list at Design document is not a good proof (or not a proof), if is based only on file external name given by NMA. cheers, dotz

Links from wikipedia possibleEdit

There are possible links to the Vault from (short notes needed also):

Before we will reach 5k number of articles, in short time it can affect positively the Vault ratings in some Angela's tools. I don't feel confident with wikipedia editing.
What about pasting into the Vault crude van Buren demo text extract as source text? (there is eg. a lot of unshown floats)? --dotz 10:42, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Main page dev Edit

Heya, I've been cooking up a main page update - can you take a look at User talk:Kirkburn/Dev‎? Thanks! Kirkburn (talk) 01:28, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Combat Armor Edit

Points taken. You're right: the d20 information is better suited to the pre-war section. I put it under the Appearances section because, well, it seemed a little awkward to have that d20 tag wedged into the middle of the article. I just thought it seemed a little cleaner.

I suppose I did go a little too far into the realm of speculation.

Van BurenEdit

I only listed the demo weapons so that players know what's in the demo. I was thinking about a separate template for all of the unused items, like the ARTEMIS armor. If you feel like modifying it so that the template I made covers everything in Van Buren, go ahead.

That works. I'll get on when after I get the location templates done. Darkman 4 00:30, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Dialogue filesEdit

I was wondering if there was any way I could 'rename' every dialogue file with an appropriate title. The Fallout dialogue files and the Fallout 2 dialogue files are almost impossible to search through while expecting to find what you want. Also, it would help me a great deal in my attempts to add a page for every character in both games.

Example: ASSBLOW.MSG is the dialogue page for Kalnor. I was wondering if the title could simply be Kalnor.msg. Say there are two characters by the same name, then I would have Kalnor.msg and Kalnor2.msg, or Kalnor.msg and KalnorBY.msg (BoneYard). Also, dialogue files and observation files (you see: chair, etc.) should be separated. -voluntas 15:35, 29 July 2008

Okay, I'll figure out how to do that. Don't worry, I was just asking permission to do this on my own, I know you're busy with Fallout 3. -voluntas 21:10, 29 July 2008

Hey Ausir. I see you noticed my edit yesterday (Monaco-related-communities). I'm going to the top 50 wikis with console games (since Fallout 3 will be on PS3 & 360, The Vault is on the list) and making sure the Related Communities sidebar box links to related/similar wikis. Anyway, I noticed that there is no custom favicon here. Surely you guys are tired of looking at that yellow W. Every good wiki deserves a custom favicon, so I'm offering to upload one of your choice. I was thinking either (1) a miniature version of the wiki's logo (the gear) or (2) the Fallout boy's head. Let me know which you prefer, or a completely different idea if you have it. Cheers. JoePlay (talk) 19:22, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the note. . . Edit

I'm working on a GURPS conversion of the Fallout video games for a Pen and Paper gaming group. I found your site and it's a great resource for this effort.

When looking at the material I found some of it slightly cumbersome; so I did some cleanup. However, I forgot to read your cleanup policy. . . I hope my most recent edits are to your liking. I did my best to keep the original intent intact.

I will be sure to use the cleanup tag from now on. :-)

S.P.E.C.I.A.L. to PnP conversion of Fallout by Jason Mical Edit

As for Jason Mical's S.P.E.C.I.A.L. I believe he's doing a good job. I may try my hand at creating an Open Office based character sheet for the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system. If I do come up with something that I like, could it be hosted on your site?

-- Jason ( 19:43, 9 August 2008 (UTC))

Pssst... it's me... Edit

I'm the guy doing the GURPS conversion. . . Apparently I had been forgetting to create an account. :-) Jason.c.daniels 20:00, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Corpses eaten Edit

Hey Ausir corpses eaten will be a perk because i read a article which todd howard says it will be a perk and FALLOUT 3 WILL ROCK!!!! Vault boy 00:49, 5 September 2008 (UTC)Vault Boy

Fallout 3 Edit

Thanks for welcoming me + Spammed page Edit

Hi, Thanks for -well- thanking me for that little precisation I added about the Crowbar use in opening locked doors. I hope I can be of more help in the future.

Please note that the following article seems to have been vandalized and spammed: (or is it a regular user page? In that case sorry, I'm noob)

best fallout game Edit

Yo Ausir waht do you think is the best fallout game because i think it is fallout 3 even though it hasn't come out yet i have played oblivion and it ROCKS!!! so having read like all of the previews and seen all the videos of Fallout 3 i think it will ROCK and definitely be better that the other fallouts and somewhat better than oblivion.Vault boy 01:27, 6 September 2008 (UTC)Vault Boy

Burke Edit

"Well done Mr.Burke" dosen't mean he's employed it could just be a compliment from monster to monster post references with a link to this footage. as for the second part that confirms him as his employer. We still only know that he was then employed by Tenpenny and unless tenpenny caps him right there he could pop of later as something bigger.Vault009Dweller 21:54, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

Dose Burke seem like the man that will just fad from the game after a destroying a whole village with a nuke in the first few hours of the game? He's almost on the level of Frank Horrigan as a major threatVault009Dweller 21:54, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
Alright but I swear my hunch will turn out correct and Burke will be at alot of the core of what's going on in this gameVault009Dweller 22:07, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

answer to best fallout game Edit

Hey Ausir i think fallout 3 gameplay changes is what makes it better because i loved oblivon so "oblivion with guns" will be awesome and i like shooters more than turn based games (no offense but turn based games kinda suck)

corpses eaten perk Edit

hey Ausir i finally found a URL that says that corpses eaten is a perk here is the URL look at the bottom of the second page you will see what Todd Howard has said about corpses eatenVault boy 02:19, 10 September 2008 (UTC)Vault Boy

Tenpenny Tower Edit

There have been known to be location achievements and if it had anything other then getting there it would be named something else maybe it's getting access to Tenpenny tower which if you didn't do the job for Mr.Burke seems like a hard task and before you start on "why didn't it give the player in the demo the achivement then" you have to remember it was atleast 30 seconds after he got out of the vault before he got the mission complete for Escape and it didn't give you 30 seconds from when the player got access to see what happened it cut to him approaching Burke and Tenpenny.Vault009Dweller 01:00, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Meet the Devs Edit

Thanks for the welcome. I noticed that most of the dev articles were stubs so I'm glad that you're OK with me adding the information in. I'll do as much as I can. :) Princess stomper 11:49, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks again. Oh, and in case you wondered, I have the OK to use those blog pics next to people's biogs.

Giant ant info concerning Califorina and Oregon Edit

Custom skin Edit

Hey Ausir. Just wanted to give you a heads up that I'll be working (in the background) on setting up a great new custom skin that Christian (Wikia designer) has designed. So if you see me uploading images of textures, that's why. I hope to be finished within a day or two. Once I'm done, you can preview it and give feedback. Then once it's all ready to go, I'll go live with it. I uploaded a mock up preview of the skin (Image:Skinpreview.jpg) so you can get an idea of what it will look like. JoePlay (talk) 17:59, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

I'm basically done with the skin (one other minor thing that I'll need to ask Christian about implementing). I see you created your personal monaco.css, but to see the latest up-to-date version, and to see any further changes I do (in real time), replace all the content on your personal .css with the following line of code:
@import "";
Feel free to give any feedback/suggestions you have before we go live with it. JoePlay (talk) 03:37, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks Edit

Thanks for the added Categorys, im no use at it. Zoalord_Aptom 23:48, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

Get a 3-step plasma transformer for Skeeter Edit

It appears that the reason it is still a red link is that there is some manner of redirect or something making it not connect to the link. Not clear on the technical details. The symptoms are: I wrote
This quest will activate after quest 4, when you bring Skeeter a Tool Kit, but only if you are carrying at least one weapon that he can upgrade (hunting rifle, .44, etc). Or, if you just want the upgrade, bring the part to him (you can get it from Jeremy without having the quest active).
There are three ways of obtaining 3-step plasma transformers, and you can get an upgrade for each one you bring to him.

  • Give Jeremy, in the reactor, the Part Requisition Form from Harold's house.
  • Give Jeremy the Part Requisition Form that Festus carries. If you ask Festus for it, you can make up any of four excuses and get it if you pass a Speech check or if he likes you; you can also steal it off him, if you like that better... or barter for it.
  • Jeremy has one on him; steal it.

Return to Skeeter and he'll give you 350 xp and a free weapon upgrade. Note that you have to give him something to upgrade before you can get another reward. "
No dice. link was still red. I tried adding
"[[Category: Fallout 2 quests]]" still nothing.
" VvAnarchangelvV 12:44, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

You're right, the page wasn't loading. Blue link for me now also. Cool beans. Tested out the info last night, you can truly get 3 weap upgrades, albeit lowly ones. VvAnarchangelvV 06:00, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Site notice Edit

Every time you change the site notice, could you change the site notice id? This makes it so people who have previously dismissed the notice will see it again. All you do is go here and add 1 to the previous number. --Macros 01:32, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Thank you :) --Macros 01:34, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Search engine optimization Edit

We're currently taking a more aggressive approach to maximizing search engine optimization on gaming wikis. Doug specifically told me to do that particular change, which has also been done on several other wikis in the past (renaming the main page). "Fallout Wiki - The Vault - a Fallout wiki" only appears if you're viewing the main page, so 'Fallout wiki' only appears twice on one page of the wiki. On every other page, the article name appears to the left, then 'The Vault - a Fallout wiki'. If you have any further questions or concerns, don't hesitate to let me know. I don't want you to ever be "in the dark" when it comes to anything regarding the Fallout wiki. JoePlay (talk) 22:57, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

P.S. I just noticed your talk page is in the Fallout 2 quests category. WTF haha JoePlay (talk) 22:59, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
