  • Politics
    • General Michael Flynn resigns from President Donald Trump's cabinet amid allegations that he had been discussing sanctions with Russia during his work in Trump's campaign.
    • A Russian spy cruiser, the Viktor Leonov, is spotted in U.S. waters drifting up and down the Atlantic coastline.
    • Trump holds three White House press meetings of lasting impact:
      • A meeting with Japan's Prime Minister Abe; Trump says that "great [trade] deals" will be made with Japan.
      • A meeting with Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu, who calls Trump the greatest friend Israel has; Trump agrees with Netanyahu's primary two requirements, that other Middle Eastern states recognize Israel, and that security of Israel from the Jordan River west be of immense importance.
      • Trump holds his first solo press conference, where he takes questions largely about Flynn's resignation, and also states that a new travel ban will be up within a week or so.
