First I'd like to say THANK YOU! and also that no matter what I put here the real beauty of FALLOUT is that you can play however you want, as many times as you want. :) THAT being said this is only ment as a sort of tips section for new players and to share my style with old players.
IN THE BEGINNING..........]
you choose your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. points spread.
What That Means... Fallout 3 (FO3, from here on) works around a character point system. All SPECIAL stats add points to skills and have perks associated with LVLs of a SPECIAL stat(1 in a S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stat gives +2 to associated skills, 10 will give +20) with the exception of Luck which adds its points to all skills by a lesser amount. (10 in LCK will give +5 to all skills,but so will 9 *hint *hint.) More on LCK further down the page.
S.P.E.C.I.A.L. is an acronym for....
Charisma - NPCs will like you better (females tend to swoon as you pass even if they hate your guts in actual dialogues / more positive vibe from NPC background chatter the higher CHR stat is) and +2 per point to both the Barter and speech skills.
Intelligence - determines how many skill points you can allocate to your 20 skills upon LVL ups(1 in INT gets you 11 points to distribute / 10 in INT you get 20 points to distribute PER LVL), also adds +2 per point to the medicine, repair, and science skills.
Luck- Critical chance multiplier % and + to all skills. (explained in detail further down)
- NOTE - Strength stat's added unarmed dmg is not to be confused Endurance stat's unarmed skill. It is the amount of dmg you do with literal bare fists, which will add onto the damage of the "unarmed weapon" you have equiped. Endurance stat increases the unarmed skill which determines how well you fight "unarmed" (which just to clarify will never be "unarmed", unless you like testing your limits....)
