Weekly Saturday poll
The WSP is a poll every Saturday asking the Fallout Wiki community what they think about the Fallout Universe; from games and add-ons, to guns and bullets, to enemies and NPC's. Have any ideas? Tell me on my talk page.

This time I want to ask the community which companion in Fallout 3 find annoying (most hated, to be precise). Another thing - our administrator, Jspoelstra, wants to be an bureaucrat. Place your votes here.

Note: Because of possible misunderstanding, I apologise because I had to reset the votes.

What is your most hated companion in Fallout 3?

  • Fawkes because he always blocks my way indoors.

  • I must admit I'm somewhat surprised by the high sneak / repair votes, I've spent nearly 500 hours playing New Vegas and another 150 playing Fallout 3 and I've found both to be rather useless (at least, with repair in comparison to other skills)!

I didn't really like any Fallout 3 companion, most of them were rather bland / boring. RL-3 was pretty cool though!

    • Yeah, repair to me is an economic skill along with economic perks, so it's expendable to me.

Don't get me wrong, I took Jury Rigging once and LOVED it's convenience. It's just that my brain was facepalming at it being unnecessary.

Yeah and sneak, sneak is good but it's too good. By the time it becomes useable you're already powerful enough to just rush in and kill everyone. Which is more fun, to me anyway.

  • Cross....she was nuts and not in a good way like Dogmeat

  • Cross no matter how many times I told her range she still used her hammer. Maybe next time I yell "charging at a Beamoth with hammer is a bad idea" she'll listen.

    • sees beamoth*

    Cross: "aaaarrrrrrrrrrrrgggggg" BANG!!! maybe not.

  • Sgt.RL-3 was just plain annoying.

  • Star Paldin because she is so annoying

  • I picked Fawkes because I always felt he got in my way indoors, and always took my kills. I preferred Charon, but I also liked using Butch and Clover (having them at the same time through glitching) because you could make them use guns you wanted them to use, and were the only companions that would accept the chinese jumpsuit.

  • There shouldn't even be companions in 3. The Lone Wanderer. Lone. As in alone. No one else.

  • Star Paladin Cross, because I hate dem' damn cyborgz.

    • Scoured the wiki and/or the guide book have you?

Yeah I never got that concept, cybernetics is seldom delved into by Fallout, unless of course it was in the Fallouts before Fallout 3 because I have never played them. But I digress.

What did cyborgs ever do to you? It's not like a cyborg overlord named, oh I don't know CABAL went around killing everyone while everyone else was busy focusing on gems or something...

    • Cross isn't a cyborg!

    • @Above Anon: Actually, you are in-correct. According to Star Paladin Cross's page, she has been technologically enhanced so she doesn't need to eat or sleep. So she is in fact, technically, a cyborg. So KillerKing17 is correct.

    • I agree with Ruler, what did cyborgs ever do to you?

    • Did ANYONE get that C&C tiberium universe reference?

                    sigh...

  • Like others may have said, I feel like New Vegas companions were better developed characters and felt more unique, in a sense. They also each had attached quests which were nice.

    • Adding companions to F3 was actually a last minute decision. That's why they didn't really account for having radiation-immune companions activating the purifier.

    • It was last minute? That's interesting. I never activated it anyway, I sent that hot blondie to do it for me.

    • @Limmie Right, but it seems like they had enough time to give each companion an excuse for NOT doing it :P

    • Really? I never knew that! Here I thought I knew everything there was to know about F3, oh well.

And how could you sacrifice Sarah?! Unless it was before Broken Steel, but then, you could just avoid the last quest.

    • at the end of the game I was like; 'What!? I'm not killing myself after everything I've done! I can do way much more than Sarah!" So I made her go in instead of me. Plus= I do this even after Broken Steel just for the hell of it

  • They were all shit. New Vegas companions actually had character and back-stories.

  • Iunno.... my first playthrough, I didn't really hate very many companions. But now that I think of it more, I hated Jericho. Firstly, I don't know how he looks that young for a 65-year-old. Either the info on this wiki is wrong, or he's bathing in children's blood when the Lone Wanderer's not looking. And man, he's such an arse the first time you meet him. That is all.

There's also Charon. But really, I should be hating Bethesda for giving him the most lacking background storyline. Well.... actually, that goes for most of the companions in Fallout 3. I think Charon just has the most lacking one.

And finally, there's Clover. I can't stand getting followed by a Barbie doll reject with a slave collar, being submissive to anyone or anything. It makes me think... what would she do if a giant boulder buys her?

A version of my comment with most of my opinions taken out: Clover.

  • Star Paladin Cross

  • Fawkes. Way to cheap.

  • The first time I played fallout 3, I didn't know there was companions, and when I selected the dialoge to hire Star Paladin Cross, I got freaked out when she started following me around. So I went to the Grisly Diner, fired SPC, pickpocketed a landmine into her inventory, and BOOOM!

  • fankes is unbeatable

  • Star Paladin Cross just goes in combat and dies

  • Clover was so annoying. All she did was be slutty and insult me. So I eventually just killed her.

  • The results of the poll just show how Fallout 3 isn't much of an RPG. It's too railroaded. Butch was a small antagonist - and now everyone hates him. Enclave - same thing. Brotherhood? Everyone loves them.

  • I never took a companion, being a Lone Wanderer and all....

    • Took it to heart did you?

Did you take it to a further extreme and refuse to wear anything other than the armored vault 101 jumpsuit for a vast majority of the game like me?

    • I wore mostly the vault security uniform.

    • But didn't you notice how clean the security uniform was and how it clashed with the environment?

I mean, the armored suit was dirty and thus fit in perfectly. I'm sorry, I'm getting too excited.

    • I thought the contrast was fitting for a character that didn't want to leave the vault in the first place.

    • The vault security armor isn't entirely clean anyways, if you look on the stitching (such as the sleeves) there's some kind of sand/dust in it. I prefer the carry the regular vault 101 jumpsuit so I can get unique dialogue from people when I put it on. For some reason you don't get the unique dialogue if your wearing vault security armor or the armored vault 101 jumpsuit

    • OH yeah! Forgot about the unique dialogue. Nah, I just wore the basic vault suit around megaton and illicited everyone's response to it, then I got the armored suit and swapped them out.

The armored suit is COVERED in dirt though! Oh well, different strokes for different folks.

    • holy shit really there's different dialog for the jumpsuit i never knew that and i have four hundred hours of game play on that game

    • Oh, I know, it took me plenty of files to notice it too. There could be dialogue everywhere for all I know, I only wore it around Megaton.

  • My best fallout 3 memory is with fawkes in vault 87 hiding behind him with no stimpacks and no health> then i get kidnapped and die about 20 times before i finally make it out to fawkes killing all enclave in site with a freaking gatling laser screaming, he has saved me many other times after that. one word legened!

  • Guns skill won. Is it bad that I directly link that to the fact most people here are american?

  • Butch.... hated him because of 3 factors. 1.annoying. because he won't shut up about being bad ass though he isn't one and he is a prick. 2 useless. low health, default weapons are sad and you have to be Neutral Karma too get him after the return to vault quest.(That's if of course if you didn't paint the vault with his brain bits earlier!). 3 coward. wouldn't save his own mom from Rad roaches without a BB gun or a pep talk were you can one hit them wearing nothing and using nothing but your fists.

  • Who could hate Dogmeat? He aweosme!

  • I always killed Butch before he could leave vualt 101
