Not scary enough?

Playing through Fallout New Vegas again made me realize that there were very few, if any really scary enemies and the better equipped you got the less scary the game became. Personally I'm a big fan of Deathclaws, but it's hard to find them scary when you're perched on a rock, five hundred yards away armed with a .50 caliber rifle loaded with match rounds.

So.. I asked myself.. What's scary?

A Deathclaw is scary.. But only up close, and when you're poorly armed.

So what's needed is long range capability and enough power to penetrate a player's heavy armour.. so I gave him a .50 caliber machine gun.

That was a good start.. but he needed something to really strike fear into his opponents and make them dive for cover.. so I gave him a mini nuke launcher, a weapon that's extremely rare in the hands of enemies and extremely deadly.

There was another problem.. Even with all that firepower he'd still be as vulnerable as an ordinary Deathclaw. The solution to that problem was heavy armor made with enclave technology, strong enough to stop bullets, light enough not to impede his speed.

Then he needed something to defend himself against players brave or crazy enough to go toe-to-toe with him and decided that a fistful of rippers would be a really good idea.

Last but not least I gave him enhanced vision, granting him an insane perception bonus, rendering stealth boys useless and letting him avenge all those times sneaky lone wanderers and couriers have sneak critted his kind.

And there you have it.. A better Deathclaw!

Hope you like it! I think the brains of Big Mountain would approve.
