What is Common Core? If you already know, great. If not, once you read this blog, you'll know why it's bad.
Common Core is an education initiative in the United States similar to George W. Bush's "No Child Left Behind". Even though No Child Left Behind failed, that still doesn't stop the government from creating education programs that's suppose to help kids "progress" through the education system. Started in 2010, Common Core has been spreading from state to state until today with the exception of Texas, Alaska, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Virginia that voted no to Common Core. Common Core is mostly associated with math and language arts. Common Core really took place since 2013 when the states with Common Core are pushed to have every school take Common Core. Since 2010, test results are mixed. New York's test results ended up dropping from 77 percent in 2009 to 55 percent in 2012 while others have to no to slight increase in change. The president and others down in D.C. praise Common Core without telling people what are they teaching and why test results are different.
