    After the success I had with my Real World Cook-Cook's Fiend Stew Recipe, I figured I'd give Mole Rat Stew a try in the real world too. Given the absence of mole rat meat at my local butcher, I used lean ground beef for this one (because I had it) but I'm thinking of trying this again with either homemade chorizo or spicy ground sausage.

    • One LB Mole rat meat - As I said, I used a pound of lean ground beef.
    • One 15 oz can of Pinto Beans - drained and rinsed
    • One 15 oz can of Maize aka Sweet Corn - drained and rinsed
    • One 12 oz can of Beer - American Lager (I used PBR)
    • One Small Jalapeño pepper - chopped fine
    • 1/2 Small onion - chopped fine
    • One tsp Black Pepper
    • One tsp Oregano
    • One tsp Paprika
    • One tsp Crushed Red Pepper

    Ever since I acquired the in-game recipe for Cook-Cook's Fiend stew in Fallout: New Vegas, I've been wanting to try it for real... Well, I did tonight. And, I must say, it turned out pretty darned tasty.

    Below is my real-world (Pre-War?) recipe:

    • Two 12 oz. cans of Pre-War Beer. (I used PBR - seemed lore-friendly - but any cheap American lager - Coors, Bud, Olympia, Miller, etc. - will work)
    • One lbs. Brahmin meat. I used lean stew beef
    • Two Medium Fresh Potatoes, peeled and diced
    • Two Large Jalapeño peppers, chopped, seeds left in
    • 1/2 Small Onion, chopped fine
    • Two Large Carrots, peeled and sliced thick
    • Two Tbs Butter
    • One Tsp Oregano
    • Two Tsp Rosemary
    • 1/2 Tsp Black Pepper (about 30 grinds?)
    • 1/4 Tsp Salt (or to taste)
