Ever had someone spell your name wrong, even when you just told them how to spell it? First name, or maybe last name? Both? I've lost count how many times someone's spelled my last name wrong. Used to happen more often with my first name, but not so much anymore. Sometimes, they even add letters to your name(s) that weren't even there in the first place and you're left to wonder "How did you come up with that?!" Or subtract letters, which is just about as bad, but somehow not as insulting as added alphabets. Some people even pronounce it wrong, even when you just told them what it was. Then you think, "What, you think you can pronounce it better? Its my last name!"

This Week's Trivia[]

According to old lore, clothes washed for the first time when the moon is full will not last long.

It is up to you if you want to believe in that old superstition or not.

Last Week's Polls[]

Do you have any sort of "tradition" you follow on Christmas?

  • Third was that you follow others' sometimes, but don't have any of your own. Does that include the stupid trend of cheesy Christmas sweaters?
  • Second was that you don't bother with that stuff. Me either. Christmas just feels like any other day to me.
  • And first was yeah! Reindeer pajamas? Said cheesy and totally ugly Christmas sweaters? Christmas group photos that no one likes to pose for?

What do you do with a gift that you did not want/didn't fit/etc.?

  • Third was tossing it in the garbage. That's actually pretty wasteful, when you stop to think about it. "Then why did you have the option?" I'm Poll Hostess. I have to have as many options as I can think of.
  • Second was a tie between giving it to someone who doesn't know the giftgiver and giving it away to Salvation Army or such. One way or another, you got rid of it, and, to boot, you didn't waste it like those people in third place!
  • And first was a variety of ideas, like trying to take it back to the store. I might find your gift at Dirt Cheap. Its a store in the South that gets returned or such stuff and sells it. Hey, you never know!

Why do people insist on refering to Christmas as "The Holidays"?

  • Third was a triple tie between "Because they are also refering to Christmas Eve," "Because someone started it in the past and now everyone does it," and "Really? They actually call it that? (from BrandonFox)" Old trends of doing something someone else did and people thought was cool (second option^) die hard. Really hard, in this case.
  • Second was because people are also refering to New Years. I always thought that there was much more hoopla about Christmas than New Years, but that may be just me.
  • And first was Comment! Which turned out to be mostly political correctness. Political correctness makes me sick. Nicey nice, everyone! Keep your opinions to yourselves! Blegh.
