Hey all -

It’s been a busy week and a half over here at The Vault. Obviously, the community is in a place of transition - which happens to most communities at some point (forking isn’t the only transitional phase communities go through). I wanted to reach out personally to express my support to those members who have chosen to stick around and contribute to the ongoing success of this wiki.

I want to let you know that we’re committed to this community and are going to be around here supporting you during this transition. Once the new community leaders are up and running (including a committed admin team), we’ll step away again.

We do ask that the admins who have chosen to leave Wikia to remove their rights so we can provide support to those who have elected to stick around and contribute to the growth of this community. Agent C has posted a list of those admins who’ve elected to stay should you have any admin needs in the meantime.

Ideally, the community here will nominate and elect additional admins (if the community’s needs require more) and we have no intention of installing new, unknown admins here though we remain concerned about issues like vandalism and spam. In case you haven’t seen it, here’s a handy page outlining the requirements for admins and moderators.

We’re now close to two weeks since the fork was announced, and Ausir stated in his initial post on the subject that all the current bureaucrats would be leaving Wikia. Because we want the community to move forward, and due to past experience, we’ll be removing bureaucrat rights today. In a couple of weeks, we’ll be looking to you to nominate and elect new bureaucrats. In the meantime, we can add the new admins for you as needed.

If there’s anything we can do for you, please let us know. We’ll do what we can, within reason, to support those who are committed to this community.

I can be reached via Special Contact - just ask for me, or comment below.
