The title of the article is intentionally provocative. I know this has been discussed many times. And let me be clear from the start. I don't expect or even want Wikia sites to conform to Wikipedia rules. If we can simplify or improve upon their standards we absolutely should. But there is an argument to be made that Wikia sites need to document their standards more clearly, especially when they deviate from "standard" Wiki markup. I have encountered this issue many times over the years and I usually just shrug my shoulders when an admin overrides an edit I did which conformed perfectly to Wiki standards because it didn't fit with the rules established by that particular Wiki, even if that rule I supposedly violated didn't appear anywhere …Read more >

I spent my free time in the last three evenings trying to figure out what causes the bug in Emogene Takes a Lover where Emogene Cabot does not travel to the Charles View Amphitheater as expected, breaking the Cabot House quest line. I have come to the conclusion that it won't be possible to fix this until the CK is released, but I did discover a lot which contradicts all of the current popular theories out there. Short version: there is no one single cause to this bug. It appears to be a combination of different factors, but finding it is difficult with the tools we have available at this time. I think I'm on to something, but I don't know how much more time I want to waste on fixing Bethesda's bu…

First, let me say, I love Fallout 4. It is highly entertaining and I am starting my third playthrough (and beginning to help with the wiki). But I'm also an old-timer. I have been witness to the evolution of the cRPG from text adventures to the orgasmic era where "Go for the eyes Boo!" was on the lips of every zit-faced teen. And as I near four decades of life, I still love cRPGs. But I have to say Fallout 4 does demonstrate why many of us think the cRPG is dying. Are we against improved graphics or the first-person view? Not at all. Fallout 3 was absolutely amazing and I embraced it with open arms (still one of my top 5 games of all-time). But more and more we are seeing video games which are 1) primarily designed for consoles, and 2) are…Read more >
Warning: this is a rant. I am making a list of all the inaccuracies in the Fallout 4 quests pages. And the list is growing by the minute. I will work on making all these fixes as soon as possible, but I can't help but wonder... where the hell are people getting this information from??? I know we go through this with every new wiki, but with games it seems the first few months are especially painful. I have found misnamed quests, incorrect quest IDs, mis-categorized quests (such as unmarked quests categorized as marked side quests), claims for rewards which are painfully far from accurate, and worse. I remember when FNV was released and we had the same problems in the early days. It turned out all the inaccurate information was based on the …Read more >
