Lieutenant Charles Henning is an NCR Army soldier and member of the 1st Recon. He is normally located at the Searchlight Airport.
Background[]
Henning was born in Redding, to a family of miners. At 13, when playing ball with friends, he saw an NCR troop marching by, and got fascinated by the military. Upon reaching adulthood, Charles joined the NCR Army and trained as a spotter and a marksman to the level of perfection. Despite being individualistic and having few friends, Charles rose through the ranks quickly, soon becoming a sniper at the 1st Recon division of the NCR Army. He was member of the same company as Boone and Manny Vargas, and although he was called to engage in the Bitter Springs Massacre operation, he did not participate due to a previous injury from conflict. He and Boone did not see eye-to-eye on many things, and the two occasionally had their run-ins.
After being promoted to Lieutenant, Henning was chosen by Joseph Polatli to be his number 1 sniper at Camp Forlorn Hope. Henning and Polatli developed a close friendship, and after the incident with the selling of NCR soldiers as slaves to the Legion by Polatli, Henning was the only one to whom the Major trusted the secret. Polatli then assigned him secretly to guard the airport, making sure nobody escaped from there.
Henning is a rude, but resolute man. He is not a man of many words, and when with a sniper rifle, can shoot targets from far away. His reputation in Camp Forlorn Hope is of a recluse person, never open to anyone for conversation and whatnot.

Quests[]
- "Freedom from our Home": Henning is told by Polatli to guard the airport external area from any escapees from the underground. The player has to bypass him somehow (either by convincing him that freeing the slaves is the best thing to do, or by force).
- "Hiding the Traces": The player has the option of recruiting Henning temporarily(through a very difficult Speech check) to help him/her kill the slaves in the Searchlight Airport. Henning has a flawless aiming and powerful shots, thus being of immense help.
