The Vault has been around as the best source of information about the Fallout series for more than six years, originally at Duck and Cover, and then at Wikia. We, The Vault bureaucrats, have now decided to open a new chapter in its history and again move the wiki, which will now be hosted by Curse at FalloutWiki.com. Bethesda Softworks's second motion for preliminary injunction in the Bethesda v. Interplay lawsuit over Fallout Online rights was rejected in August and the company appealed from the ruling.
United States Court of Appeals has now determined that Bethesda "failed to establish a likelihood of irreparable harm" and rejected the appeal. Looks like we'll learn about further development of the legal struggle after the trial by jury in December.Read more >
Tim Cain, the creator of the original Fallout himself, has just announced that he is joining Obsidian Entertainment, the studio behind Fallout: New Vegas, as a Senior Programmer on his Facebook and LinkedIn profiles.
If you're not familiar with Tim's employment history, after completing Fallout he went on to do some pre-production work on Fallout 2 before leaving Interplay to set up Troika Games with Leonard Boyarsky and Jason D. Anderson, two of the other original Fallout developers. After Troika's shutdown in 2005, he joined as the programming director at Carbine Studio working on Wildstar, a fantasy MMO game for NCSoft but left Carbine in July 2011 for unknown reasons.Read more >
Here's another summary of what's going on at The Vault and Wikia. This time we focus on The Vault's new moderators and the new Message Wall feature that is set to replace the current user talk pages.
After a vote, GhostAvatar became The Vault's fourth bureaucrat.
After a vote, it has been decided that a "moderator" group be formalized as a Vault user rank below that of administrator, which now has "rollback", "recent changes patrol" and "chat moderator" rights, both of which at the moment do not have formalized request criteria.
The minimum requirements for becoming a moderator are:
- You have made at least 500 edits in the article, category or template namespace (i.e. talk page, blog and forum contributions do not count).
