New Vegas ad takes a jab at jRPGs
Here's a new Japanese ad of Fallout: New Vegas that makes fun of Japanese RPG cliches. It shows people holding the following signs:
- "While the player is still weak, the enemies are weak, too. That's too convenient!"
- "For things to progress according to some scenario is the same as life according to the rules."
- "What's the point of playing again if there's no change to the story."
- "Since when did games become something that you watch?"
- "I think it would be nice if the main character had a mission aside from just wiping out evil."
- "Grinding levels is time spent losing motivation."
- "Games these days are doing little more than try to chase realistic graphics."
- "The stage is set. The only thing left is freedom!"

japanese rpgs and american rpgs are soo diferent. I see more variety in american rpgs, I mean try to compare mass effect with dragon age and with fallout 3. Japanese rpg have better graphics, end of the story, but their stories are to similar to anime stories. American rpgs have stories similar to holliwood movies.

im ok with some manga, and some anime.
anime and manga have a wierd advantage of being able to touch upon things that would normally be considered taboo in western art. Sometimes this is good, sometimes it is bad, alot of times it is bad.
i never got very far in X, my playstation 2 broke (it turned out my brother thought his psp cord would work, thats a long story) but i liked it all the same
the last jrpg i played was star ocean, i put well over fourty hours into that game
and the last remnant i liked more than most people did
next one on my buy list is resonance of fate, rented it and i gotta say it is more rpg like than most other japanese stats based games
So i am not a fan of the genre, but i feel much the same way about western games
some are terrible beyond rational though, others are good. We cant punish the good ones because the bad ones exsist
i didnt stop playing halo because jurassic the hunted was also an fps
but still i approach japanese stats based games with caution, many of them rely on the "its foreign, therefore its good" mentality, and it not exactly a new mentality, its epsecially rampant in the world of medicine.
i judge games individually, even if they are sequals.
So thats basically what these games boil down to, they just are not roleplaying games, and thus they are not good roleplaying games.
Its like saying peanut butter is not good jelly, of course its not good jelly, ITS PEANUT BUTTER.

You played Final Fantasy X!? Kudos to you, bro! It's my favorite Final Fantasy. I thought, that the whole Sin, Jecht thing, was amazing!
I have to apologize to you, Ralok I thought that you were some PC fanboy and that you dislike Japanese games, because they come from Japan not from USA. But now I see, that you just don't consider them, as RPGs, yet you still play them.
You have my respect and I am not being sarcastic.
I recommend Chrono Trigger. Great game!
I like jRPGs, because I love Manga and Japanese culture in general.
But I still play games, like Fallout.

In my opinion, some of them are good games, and none of them are roleplaying games. (maybe except for a select few I havn't heard about)

never played VII i did play X had a hell of a time with it
but I maintain they are not rpg's
So the question is are they good games . . . ocassionally Are they good role playing games . . . never

FFVII was one of the greatest jRPGs I had ever played. Graphics aren't all that bad (they were excellent at the time) and just look at the music. A One Winged Angel was a great song

i had played the first fallout prior to fallout 3, it was years and years before and I was young and not really into games for the right reasons
when i got fallout 3, i couldnt allow myself to NOT play the other fallout games
now back on subject
so them japanese stats based games, not to good are they, i mean they CAN be good but most of the time they arent. Good characters, good music, but almost always bad gameplay and a failure to live up to the idea of ROLEPLAYING
and that is there problem, they should stop trying to pretend they are roleplaying games

ohk, sorry guys, i dont care about friggin graphics. i liked the first fallout, i havent touched fallout 2 and tactics i dont want to touch. i bought the pack your talking about. and graphics and effects are the least important thing to the fallout games. i liked how the first fallout it was extremely hard. but i was pissed off, because you walked every where. (i changed to to run) but i was crippled. I like FPS. so if you think i'm the kinda guy who would prefer to play an FPS fallout, your rite. but if you think i'm a guy who wants to play the shit stain COD games your wrong. AND I SAID I WORKED AT EB GAMES! NOT SINCE I EVER BEEN THERE HAS THE FALLOUT PACK BEEN BOUGHT!

The Fallout Trilogy pack ocntains the first 3 Fallout games - Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics. And no, they are not crap. Not to mention they still sell pretty well.

They did claim it didn't exist before Fallout 3 was released, even though it was first published years before Fallout 3 (in 2004 in Europe and in 2006 in the US).

@Nico why do you keep calling YOURSELF "noone" xD? Since you've got no right to decide whether OTHERS want to play original Fallouts or not. Fallout Trilogy IS a trilogy, since it contains THREE Fallout games.
I bet you're the kind of gamer who only cares about graphics and effects, and Fallout 3 is just a nice FPS/TPP game for you.. Anyway don't even mind to answer, discussion with you is pointless.

If you think that Fallout 1 and 2 are CRAP, then you shouldn't be on this site. By the way, if it wasn't for Fallout 1 and 2, there wouldn't be your BELOVED Fallout 3. Also, every true Fallout fan will agree with me, that the best is Fallout 2
Also, it's funny, that Bethesda is bashing jRPGs, yet Fallout 3 is guilty of the same things.

WHAT TRILOGY PACK!?!?!?!?!?! the pack would be worthless to every one. it'll cost $20 more than buying Fallout 3 alone. No one wants to play the original 2. i dont mind fallout. but sorry. no one wants the first and second fallout. i work at EB games and when some one asks me if fallout will be in a trilogy set. i tell them no. THEN THEY SAY THAT THE OTHER TWO WERE CRAP ANY WAY. i dont get why they asked. but any way. the only pack there is, is the one with the first two games and tactics.

is this a trilogy pack for fallout? or star wars? fallout, the only pack i've ever seen is Fallout 1, 2 and tactics. i have them but ssince i do not have a computer that wants to agree with the fact that it can play those games, i dont play them. i prefer fallout 3 because its on the best console ever! (360) any way can we complain about jRPG's now. we've gone off topic.
