- I've worked hard to try and make this a one stop shop for every useful piece of information on this wiki relating to items and character planning (which basically comes down to whether you want to use Power Armor or Ranger Battle Armor, choosing 9 Perks (since the other 10 are generally written in stone), and very minor stat choices (due to Perk requirements and game mechanics favoring certain stats (not named Charisma) over others). Hopefully you can find something useful here ;).

[edit] Notes
- You start with 40 stat points, you can gain up to 10 from perks (1/perk), and up to 14 from items (7 Bobbleheads, Lucky 8 Ball, Three Dog's Head Wrap, Lucky Shades, either Vance's Longcoat Outfit, Maple's Garb, or a Brahmin-Skin Outfit), and the Ant Sight or Ant Might Perk.
- The maximum value is 10 for a stat, and 100 for a skill. There are 13 skills (x100), totaling a maximum of 1300 Skill Points)
- The maximum natural Action Points value a player can have is 140 (65 (base) + 20 (10 AGx2) + 25 (Ledoux's Hockey Mask) +25 (Action Boy Perk) +5 (Ranger Battle Armor)).
- You get +10 HP, + (10 + IN) Skill Points, and +1 Perk per level up.
- There are 325 Skill Books in Fallout 3, and 93-240 Nuka-Cola Quantums, depending on your luck with vending machines.
- Bethesda Offices East has a 73hour respawning Big Guns Skill Book, so no points need to be spent on Big Guns.
- Shalebridge Tunnels has a 72hour respawning Science Skill Book, so no points need to be spent on Science.
- UPDATED 02 Feb 09 Yew's Bear Charm, Covert Ops, Jingwei's Shock Sword, Winterized_T-51b_Power_Armor, and the cheat-only General Jingwei's Uniform entries have been added to the information below, as well as a new non-VATS based class.
Date 5/16/09 - Can you please update this page to reflect the new offerings of the DLC? Things have changed significantly in Broken Steel. Thank you!

[edit] Skill Points & The Case For Stupidity
- The general thought that 9 Intelligence is worthwhile might be a bit misguided (at least to those of us focused on end game strength/extensive character planning and the like). Here's a quick look at skill point breakdowns between a 9 IN character and a 4 IN one. Remember that the goal is 1300 Skill Points, which would max out all 13 skills. While extra points above 100 can help guard against stat debuffs dropping skill totals, extra stat points tend to be much more useful.
- Please keep in mind that these two scenarios only assign 30 and 24 (of 50+) stat points, respectively, and assume the WORST case for the remaining points with no accounting for additional ranks of Intense Training. (The 50 stat point figure includes 40 points from creation, 7 from Bobbleheads, 1 from a Lucky 8 Ball, 1 from an Ant Perk, and 1 rank of Intense Training which is forced on the player by level 3. Also, it should be noted that looking for all these skill books is a pretty lame endeavor and is reserved for the ultra dedicated.
- TheMagnus - You should remember some builds need certain amounts of IN for certain Perks...
[edit] High Intelligence - 9 to start, 10 by level 2:
| Skill Points: | Gained from: |
|---|---|
| 65 | base skill (5 points per x13 skills) |

- This means that these are the maximum values skills should be raised to upon leveling
- (INCLUDING planned future stat increases due to Bobbleheads or Perks) :
| Skill | Max | Buff | Equipment | Notes |

| Other Skills | 40 | (0) | - None |
- Note: If you depend on Ranger Battle Armor and Three Dog's Head Wrap for 2 points of Luck,
- Most of the buffs will give 1 less skill than listed due to the Luck stat loss.

[edit] Useful Items
- Note: for cheating in the PC version: In order to gain any stat raises from a bobble head they must be picked up from the game world, rather than added to your inventory. To get the stat increase without finding the bobble head, it is recommended that you zoom out, go into the console, click yourself, then type "placeatme [objectid of desired bobblehead]" in the console. This should spawn the bobble head at your feet where you can easily pick it up and get the stats.
- Additionally, consider the player.forceav Console command, which will let you set your skills and attributes to whatever you like.
- 25 of each type of skill book exist, except 24 for Barter and unlimited for Big Guns and Science (the 25th Speech book is titled Paradise Lost); each Bobblehead is unique.
