FAQEdit

Can I use multiple (linked) pages?Edit

Not something I was anticipating, but yes; however you should minimise these. One or two pages to cover a siginificant NPC is acceptable, but please spare a thought for the judges - going through two dozen pages is just too much, and is a sign that you probably are doing too much detail.

Can I play?Edit

We will be running an open call for contestants, with at least 4 joining the game. The other 4 contestants will be some of the best from the first series.

How do I setup my entry for the weekEdit

Create the pages as blog pages, and then link them to my talk page. Please make sure you've added the disclaimer template. If there are multiple pages in your entry, you should link each page separately. All pages will then be linked onto the main game blog, which I will create when entries are closed.
Template: {{directionbox |text =This page is a part of the [[User:Agent_c/FalloutApprenticeRedirectPage|Fallout: The Apprentice contest]]. It should not be confused with in game content |image =50 Vault-Tec C.E.O..png }}

What style should I write the entry inEdit

Where possible, please try and emulate articles on the wiki. Help with formatting is available from the judges (but we will not have with content or design, you must know exactly what you want, and where).

Any strategy tipsEdit

Posting your ideas publicly early could help "reserve" elements of your entry - encourage people to go elsewhere. On the other hand, waiting until you see what others do could give you an advantage in constructing your entry - seeing your opponents hands whilst yours is hidden... How you play it is up to you.

I'm going to be away.....Edit

Let me know ASAP. Releasing the next challenge early is a strong possibility if you're going to be away for some time. As we're now running on a weekly "Show" schedule (alternating between Vote open and elmination) I have limited scope for extensions, but around 24hrs can be done if required.

Fallout: The Apprentice 2013Edit

Welcome back folks to the Radio City Nuclear Shelter for the opening challenge of Fallout: The Apprentice 2013. We're doing something a bit different to last year, and you'll have the chance to join in the main game!

This year's board consists of
  • Last year's winner - Crimson Frankie.
  • Agent C
  • TBA

Like last year we'll be ranking the apprentices each week, and allowing you to ultimately select who goes home, and who becomes The Apprentice!

Did you say I could play?Edit

Yes, I did....

  • Firstly, We'll be reserving a maxium of 4 players from our game from last year, from the best of the entries in last years main game and home viewer contest.
  • The remaining slots (at least 4) are up for grabs in the Qualifcication Challenge!
  • There is no home viewer contest this year.

The Qualification Challenge - A Traders' LifeEdit

At least the best 4 entries will secure a place in the game. The winner of the challenge will also score an immunity from the vote.

In Fallout 1, The Hub was to southern California the center of the world, with all major towns tracing their trade routes here. Whereas in Fallout 3, Rivet City offered vault dwellers a hint of Civilisation.

Your Challenge is to add a new shop to The Hub, or Rivet City.

Entries for the HubEdit

You may choose to place this on either the Hub Downtown, Hub Entrance, or Old Town Maps (Darren Hightower doesnt want any neighbours, and people are too creeped out by the Church of the Cathederal to shop nearby).

You may assume that this is being added early in development, as such you can extend the map, add new buildings, or include links in other characters dialogues if you choose.

Alternatively you may want to repurpose one of the existing buildings or spaces, however if you choose to do this the building you choose must have no current major function in game (ie - you can't evict a caravan company or the police; however Irwin can be moved on from his ruin, and the buildings in the Hub Entrance map can similarly be repurposed. If you are in doubt, ask).

You should think about what stores the Hub already has. To help guide you on this The Hub already includes the following businesses:

  • 2 Guns stores (Beth's in Downtown, Jakes' in Oldtown)
  • A general store (Mick's in Downtown)
  • A Bank (The FLC, Downtown)
  • A food vendor (Igauna bob's)
  • A Bar (The Malteese Falcon)
  • A Drug Den (Unnamed)

If you're not familiar with Fallout 1, you may want to look these places up, and look at the maps.

You are allowed to duplicate inventory/function if you choose, but you will have to distinguish your store from the existing one enough to make it stand out in its own right.

The "Store" can sell physical goods, or services (like the FLC, or the Hotel in Junktown), or be a place of entertainment (like Gizmo's).

To make the store more interesting, you should tell us about the people who run it, visit it, and any quests they're involved in.

Alternatively, the store does not have to sell anything of use to the player - it could be there selling things that non adventurer types are interested in. However if you choose to follow this option you will need to make sure there is something of interest to the player here - some sort of quest perhaps.

Entries for Rivet CityEdit

You may choose to place this on the Upper Deck Deck, the flight deck (outside/runway), or in the Marketplace (Businesses on the Mid Deck will attract noise complaints, and the Bow can't be used for obvious reasons). You can make reasonable adjustments to the Map, but given it is a ship, these will have to be limited in size and scope...

You should think about what stores Rivet City already has. To help guide you on this, Rivet City includes the following businesses:

  • A chems store (A Quick Fix)
  • A weapons store (Flak 'N Shrapnel's)
  • A resturant (Gary's Galley)
  • A clothing Store (Potomac Attire)
  • A General store (Rivet City Supply)
  • A Bar (The Muddy Rudder)
  • A Hotel (Weatherly Hotel)
  • A Doctor (Rivet City clinic)

If you're not familiar with Fallout 3, you may want to look these places up, and look at the maps.

You are allowed to duplicate inventory/function if you choose, but you will have to distinguish your store from the existing one enough to make it stand out in its own right.

The "Store" can sell physical goods, or services, or be a place of entertainment.

How do I get inEdit

  • You have to be a registered user, this isn't negotiable I'm afraid.
  • Create a blog containing your idea. You may use an extra blog post or two if you want to highlight a quest or NPC.
  • Link the post to my talk page, or to the comments section of this blog.
  • The Boardroom will consider all entries, and determine who joins the game
  • It doesnt matter whether you choose Rivet City or The Hub. All entries will be evaluated on an even basis - we could have 4 Hub, or 4 Rivet city entries, split 50:50, etc. Choose the one you feel you can write best to.

What do I need to knowEdit

  • The challenges this year will include all of the canon games, and more. You don't have to have played every game, you can research the games on the wiki, and the board can help answer direct questions on Canon.
  • Some challenges will be similar to last year, some will be brand new.
  • This year you'll have more time to do your entries, We're moving to a monthly schedule (maybe).
