Following the Great War, these ticks mutated from the Ixodes scapularis variant.[1]Scout Leader Jaggy shares advice about ticks, in that if one spends time in the forest, at the end of the day, they should thoroughly check for ticks.[2]
Ticks are fast-moving and emit a unique clattering sound when moving. After attacking, their blood sacs will fill with blood, which they can spray back at their opponent to cause radiation damage for several seconds. If killed while their blood sacs are full, their sacs will explode, rendering them unable to be looted for tick blood and tick blood sacs. Diseased ticks also have a chance to give the parasites disease.
Variants[]
Tick[]
The standard variant, with the attributes mentioned above.
This tick is infected with the Scorched Plague. All regular tick variants have a corresponding Scorched variant with the same stats, abilities, and items. They may become Scorched when attacked by scorchbeasts or the scorchbeast queen, becoming allies with other Scorched creatures.
In the Mojave Wasteland, robotic spokesman Festus mentions the creature when he argues that one would have to "get full as a tick" on Sunset Sarsaparilla in order for the soda to cause the same serious health issues as reported by a recent study.[3]
↑Jaggy: "A day spent in the forest should end with a thorough self-inspection to ensure that no ticks have invited themselves along for a ride." (Jaggy's dialogue)
↑Festus: "Note that you'd have to drink a heap of Sunset Sarsaparilla to match the quantities used in the study. How much, you ask? A lot. A whole helluva lot. In fact, you'd have to get full as a tick on Sunset Sarsaparilla to even come close. Anyway, thanks for stopping by, partner! And keep drinking Sunset Sarsaparilla!" (Festus' dialogue)
↑Sole Survivor: " I want to know more about Nuka-World." Porter Gage: "Big-time amusement park back before the world went to shit. Well, I guess if this place is any indication, it wasn't so hot before it all blew up. Anyway, we weren't the first to think of this place as a good stronghold. Before we got here, bunch of traders had set up shop, and hired a whole lotta guns to protect 'em. They were dug in like ticks. That's why it took pulling a bunch of gangs together to even have a chance." (Porter Gage's dialogue)
