The Prospector's Den is a location in the Mojave Wasteland, directly south-east of Primm and south-west of the Emergency Service Railyard.

Layout

The Prospector's Den is a simple cave with a building established inside. When you first enter, there will be many dead prospectors on the ground with loot such as weapons and bottle caps. The building consists of three rooms:

  • The first room you encounter is somewhat like the living room and kitchen. It contains two beds, cabinets, a Jukebox, a Radio, and a refrigerator.
  • The second room, which is the living quarters, contains eight footlockers and eight mattresses with a dead prospector on one of them.
  • The third room acts as a small maintenance shack. It has two shelves, a first aid box, a reloading bench, and a generator.

Initially, the Prospector's Den will be inhabited Jackal gang members, who have raided the den and killed the prospectors inside. Should the Courier clear out the location, a new group of prospectors, including two New California Republic prospectors, will inhabit the den for the rest of the game.

Along with the two prospectors, a merchant will also inhabit the area, standing near the exterior of the shack.

Appearances

The Prospector's Den appears only in Fallout: New Vegas.

Bugs

  • PCPC As with some traveling merchants, the Prospector's Den's merchant inventory is not set to respawn. The merchant's inventory will only change with what the player buys or sells, and will otherwise remain the same throughout the entire game.
  • Playstation 3Playstation 3Playstation 3 In the second room, the footlockers on the West wall will be empty. Leaving and re-entering the Den will reset them.
  • PCPC Upon leaving the den, a member of the Powder gangers will appear and the game will instantly crash, effectively stopping the auto-save.
  • PCPC The super mutants in front of the den will stop and not attack, but their health will not go to zero when hit. Resetting or reloading the save file will not have any effect.
  • PCPC All the dead prospectors may be found, but there will be no raiders.
  • Xbox 360Xbox 360 Perhaps because of its proximity to Jack Rabbit Springs, oddly enough, a Centaur will spawn at the door to the den upon the player's visitation every time (This seems to happen only after the Jackal gang members have been killed and the den is inhabited by the new prospectors.)
