The Mill is a steel mill building centrally located in The Pitt, added to Fallout 3 in the add-on The Pitt.

The Mill is one of the most important buildings in The Pitt, being centrally located and serving as a hub between The Pitt Downtown, The Pitt Uptown, and the Steelyard. The steel mill also contains The Hole and the Ammo Press which according to Ashur is how he has kept his "army" intact and with ammunition "all these years".

Contents

[edit] Characters

[edit] Slaves

  • Marco - Slave secretly manufacturering weapons for the rebels. Can give the player an Auto Axe.
  • Brand - A slave snitch who passes information to the Raiders in exchange for work breaks.

[edit] Raiders

  • Everett - Raider in charge of gathering steel ingots from the Steelyard. See the Mill Worker quest.
  • Faydra - Raider in charge of arranging arena fights in The Hole.
  • Bone - Raider guard who comments on the player's fights in The Hole.
  • Spook - guards the entrance to The Hole.
  • Hammer - guards the gate to Uptown.

[edit] Notes

  • Near the gate to Uptown is an injured slave curled up on the ground. If the player has sufficient Medicine skill, examining the slave will give the player the option of either temporarily alleviating his injuries or killing him to end his suffering. Neither is considered a "good" or "evil" action. If the player does nothing, a Raider guard will berate the injured slave for laziness, and eventually execute him. If the player treats the slave, he will return to work and the Raider will be amused and remark that the slave will now be able to work for a few more weeks before dropping dead from his injuries.
  • Hammer is standing in front of a locked gate that requires a key, leading to Uptown. You can gain access to the other side without the key by climbing the stairs behind Hammer and jumping onto the beam with the light. Then leap across and over the fence. Note that you cannot enter Uptown; the door is locked and requires a key to open. (No such key exists, but it opens during Free Labor)
  • The Ammo Press is a machine that can be used to create ammunition after completion of the quest Free Labor. Access is given by either Werhner or Ashur.

[edit] Bugs

  • On Pc (v 1.5) after stealing all auto-axes from the slaves and ammo and weapons from Bone and Hammer they all seem to restock. Hammer restocked a .32 Pistol. So there seems to be a unlimited resource of ammo and pistols.

[edit] Behind the scenes

  • In the real world, steel mills were never located in this part of Pittsburgh. They were located along the banks of rivers opposite from the Downtown area, such as the same side of the river as where you emerged from the tunnel.
