The following is based on design documents from the cancelled Fallout movie and is not canon. |
Techy is a worker in Vault 13 who was set to appear in the Fallout Movie.
Background[]
Techy, referenced in the Fallout film treatment as the protagonist's friend,[1][2] he is part of the team that was assembled to leave the Vault and search for a new water chip.[3] He is described as a 'quirky Male Technician',[4] and had previously voiced his desires to go above ground. At first it seemed like a dream come true, even though he expresses his nerves about the expedition, but the viewer was soon to discover how wrong he was.[5]
Techy had been trusted with the role of providing a live-video feed to the elders, who would be watching from the vault.[6] Upon reaching the inhospitable, arid surface, Techy started to complain about the weight of his pack. In his naivety, he thought that they had found their salvation in the shape of a pay-phone and a Yellow Pages. With gleeful abandon, he made a dash for the phone, believing that they could simply order a new water chip over the phone. However, he never made it.[7]
The group is attacked by scavengers, and the first sign of this attack is Techy receiving a bullet to the head, killing him instantly as it entered his brain. At this point, the video feed is also lost.[8]
Appearances[]
Techy was to appear in the Fallout Movie.
Behind the scenes[]
- Techy has the first scripted line in the movie, in which he tells the Vault Dweller "It's not healthy to dream of fish".[9]
- Techy's name is not revealed, and he is simply referred to as the Techy throughout, apart from two instances: at the very beginning he is known as Friend[10] and when he is introduced as a member of the scouting party he is referred to, as previously mentioned, by the phrase 'quirky Male Technician'.[11]
- Techy was between 15-35, and was thus classified as Third Generation, as this is the age range that the scouts all fell into.[12]
