The MP's trunk was not outside the interrogation cell(where the legion centurion was), it was inside the cell room across the corridor. Thats where I found it, anyone else confirm? 188.8.131.52 16:30, December 9, 2010 (UTC)
Starting the questEdit
I hate for this to be the first entry on the talk page, but the information in this article is a little vague about how this quest is started.
To start the quest talk to following persons:
- Private Ortega at the gate to the NCR Sharecropper Farms about who's ungrateful about the job (Speech 25 I think)
- Trent Bascom
- Lieutenant Romanowski, who directs you to Lt. Carrie Boyd
- Carrie Boyd: (Not sure about how exactly the conversation was going)
- Ask about missing persons
- Ask if someone else is missing

After doing both The White Wash and the "radiation in the water" quest in favor of sharecroppers (not vault ghouls), I eventually went back to Trent Bascom and he told me he was packing up and leaving. Oddly, when I chose the "goodbye" option, the text didn't match the voiceover, in which he said "...was looking into it, but I never heard back from him. I guess he wasn't here in any official capacity." I guess this refers to White from an earlier conversation. Wonder if there is some way to get clean resolution on this. --GryphonQ 05:48, November 3, 2010 (UTC)
I only got the first payment from the co-op its been about 2 months in the game still nothing what am I doing wrong?
Glitch I got the first payment and then nothing since. So I have no idea what is happening.
Interlaps with 'I put a spell on you' Edit
Now, I wanted to complete White Wash, but at the same time, I planned to betray the NCR later and join up with the legion, so I left 'I put a spell on you' unfinished so I could help the legion spy. I was unable to start White Wash, I talked to people, I rescued Anders, I even dealt with Silus the legion POW. But I was still unable to start the quest.. then I talked to Curtis about suspicius activity, he told me about missing supplies and people, then I went up to Boyd again... Now suddenly she was more than happy to tell me about white!
In short, if Boyd refuses to tell you about missing people, talk to curtis, even if you plan to do the legion alternative, just ask him about suspicius activity and Boyd should start the quest for you. -- FieryWrath, 27 November 2010.
A Rock and a Hard Place Edit
This mission let a bitter taste in my mouth. Sure Westside needs water and the NCR negate this to them, but let Anderson walk freely was a hard decision to make. I only did because I want start the Arcade quest earlier, otherwise I think that the best decision is let Westside have the water, but do Anderson surrender himself to the NCR. I couldn't agree more, but that is the world of fallout. Killing a person is not a big deal there.(Magi123 04:19, April 14, 2011 (UTC))
Quest bug in German versions Edit
This quest cannot be completed diplomatically in all German localized versions (censored and uncensored). I own the German version (uncensored) for Xbox 360 and the UK version for PS3 and tried it with both recently (because I wanted +2 trust points with Arcade Gannon for letting Anders go). It worked no problem with the English PS3 version (most recent patch) but didn't with the German Xbox 360 version (again, most recent patch). After you return to Lt. Boyd (and didn't kill Anders) you won't get the dialog option to tell her what happened to White. You can only ask her about Anders over and over. The only way to fix this is to kill Anders and hand over his confession to Boyd.
I googled around a bit and found that this has happened to multiple people playing the German version, regardless of system (PC, PS3, Xbox 360, doesn't matter) and censorship (it must be a localization error because it happens on both German versions).
Maybe you wanna add this info to the "Bugs" section after clarification? --Enclave Remnant 14:07, May 3, 2011 (UTC)
Why get the letters? Edit
Why does the guide tell people to pickpocket letters? It doesn't explain why. 184.108.40.206 03:13, May 30, 2011 (UTC)
Same here, i think is pointless.
It is pointless and should be listed as an optional thing you can do for additional information, but it’s absolutely not necessary. I’ve done this quest dozens of times and never knew the letters existed until reading the article. They really only tell you what the people themselves tell you anyway. It seems like I'm encountering two consistent bugs: 1) If I choose to tell Anderson I won't lie for him, he'll turn hostile for about three seconds before turning neutral again. He doesn't make a face, draw a gun, or anything during this time frame. In each instance he was standing and never near a chair. 2) I'm not certain if this is considered a bug or not, but it seems like if a companion detects you killing him, you'll loose Followers Reputation; regardless of which companion that is. As far as the first bug goes, I'm not certain what causes it. I want to say it's because I'm idolized with the Followers, but I'm not certain. After about two dozen tests it's been consistant every time I tell him I won't lie for him. And similar to the bug listed on the page already, it actually has nothing to do with a chair. He's been standing everytime I've activated that dialogue path. And as far as the second one, I mostly mean this in regards to ED-E. If it were just Gannon, I could understand it (being that he's a Follower and disapproves). But as far as ED-E goes and similar companions (like Rex), I'm not sure why they would trigger a loss in Followers rep. Furthermore, it's even stranger because I can just hide ED-E and Gannon around a corner, make the kill, and not suffer any loss in Followers reputation for the kill. It doesn't even have to be a sneak-kill. And since the last patch, any kill against a faction member regardless of circumstances is suppose to cause you to lose reputation if I'm not mistaken? Additionally, I wanted to add that his neutral state doesn't seem to be intentional. I thought maybe if you talked to Julie Farkas or Carrie Boyd you might be able to turn him in without killing him. But regardless of whether or not I try to talk to either one of them prior or after talking to Anderson, or after talking to Hector, you don't receive any new branches in the quest. So it is what I think it is - a bug. --220.127.116.11 04:38, July 31, 2011 (UTC)
Well, I will like to interject the details of the conversation, using the Scorpion gang option for the problem will have Arcade commenting on how the NCR is now not only leaving their water pumps exposed but also dealing with Scorpion bandits, stating it as very sub rosa 18.104.22.168 06:57, January 15, 2013 (UTC)
For some reason I can't get dazzle to give me any dialogue options to do with this quest. I tried talking to every other npc in the quest and pick pocketing any relevant items but it's not working. 22.214.171.124 15:53, June 9, 2013 (UTC)
How to complete the optional objective of this quest? Edit
I searched Corporal White's locker and got his journal before I started the quest, and it seems impossible to finish the optional quest objective "(Optional) Look through Corporal White's personal effects in his locker in the McCarran Concourse Area". Is there any method to fix the bug? Even using console commands? Thanks.126.96.36.199 01:09, October 10, 2013 (UTC)
Can't help the karma/rep loss on PS3 Edit
I got Anderson's aggro bug on the PS3, and it didn't matter whether he was standing up or sitting down. Before talking to him, not only was I idolized with the Followers, but I'd also talked to Julie and joined. I thought this might have been it, but I don't know. I tried all the listed work-arounds to avoid losing so much rep that I drop to a different rank on the scale. No dice. If it was me directly aggravating Anderson again either by stealing or reverse pick-pocketing a grenade (because the quest still says you have to kill him--no choice), I lost karma and rep and dropped a rank. What I ended up doing was reverse pick-pocketing and poisoning him (I had Dark Datura); he got up and turned red again; and then my companions (Boone and ED-E in this case) killed him. I still lost karma and rep with the Followers, but it wasn't enough to change my ranking with them.
