Talk:The Dismemberer
From The Vault
From the name, I'd think it did extra limb damage, like Jack. Thoughts? R3dflag 01:34, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Dismemberer
Anyone know where to find it?
- You know, the article has a section called "Obtaining" which explains just that. -- Porter21 (talk) 22:27, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
not complaining but the article is hardly descriptive and useful yet.
- The DLC has been out for 12 hours. The article states you get it for completing Plik's Safari. Going to that article you will find that Pilk's Safari takes place in the Coastal Grotto. How does that not answer your question where to find the Dismemberer? -- Porter21 (talk) 22:42, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
you need to chill out, im sorry. When i first posted the article hadnt been updated, i now have the dismemberer. I am sorry to have upset you.
Im glad, btw, is there any use at all for yeast?
- It's used in the A Spoonful of Whiskey quest. You have to bring three bags of yeast to Marguerite (along with Punga Fruits and Fission Batteries). -- Porter21 (talk) 22:56, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
k, thanks :D
Wait, how does a fission battery help make moonshine?
If poo from micro-organisms and halusigenic fruits go into it I don't have any problem with electricity
She says she puts the acid from the batteries into the brew... still want to drink it for that extra point to strength and charisma?
[edit] Is this worth it?
I've already got it, but is this axe really worth 1,000 caps and fighting off... 20, 25 Reavers? I don't think so. Nitpicker of the Wastes 14:50, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
- Nothing is worth fighting off 25 reavers. Fat Man Spoon 14:55, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
- Note to self: Come to Point Lookout at earlier level. Can I just un-install Broken Steel before level 21 and the end of the MQ? Or are these Reavers included in Point Lookout too? Nitpicker of the Wastes 14:57, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
- I wouldn't advise un-installing broken steel. Fat Man Spoon 15:00, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
- I downloaded this BEFORE Broken Steel, and only added BS when I was getting close to 20. @Nitpicker - There are Reavers in Point Lookout REGARDLESS of whether you have BS or not. Made it pretty hard at level 10 > > --202.173.129.187 03:19, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

I don't know about you guys, but I did this at level 29, WITH BS installed, and didn't fight a single reaver. The highest he released were glowing ones.--71.234.106.119 16:11, 29 June 2009 (UTC)Anonymous
Take it off easy you friggin pansy.
- I played the safari at lvl 30 on VH difficulty. NO REAVERS. 69.38.252.83 13:25, November 5, 2009 (UTC)
- It's random. I played through on 25 or six with a wide variety of Ghouls (no Reavers though) and the majority were mere Roamers. The Destablizer with Ghoul Ectology completely vaporized all of the poor fiends. I also got the other two nimrods in the crossfire, oh well. It would be horrible fighting all of those Reavers though. I first encoutnered them here and they're nasty buggers. Never try and fight through a Ghoul horde with a DBS when a Reaver or two are joining in the fun.--KnightNapier 01:37, December 4, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] "All limbs detach, killing the target instantly"
Can someone with a GECK check this out, see if there's a script attached? Sounds more like Bloody Mess to me. Nitpicker of the Wastes 15:12, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
- Yarly.... I frequently see "all limbs detach" when I shoot a raider in the head with a single pistol round. (Bloody Mess was a lot more realistic-looking in the previous Fallout games, in which the death animations were matched to the type of attack that killed the enemy.... oh, well.) So can we confirm that this axe adds a special dismemberment effect that is unrelated to Bloody Mess? I need to learn how to use this GECK thingamabob. (Well, what do you know... "thingamabob" is actually recognized as a word by Firefox's spell checker...) 12.204.48.130 07:24, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
- Wouldn't you know it, there is actually a "Dismember" effect in the GECK... and yep, it's a script. It gives an 80% chance to "mega-dismember" (that's the exact phrase it uses) and restore 5 action points. It doesn't instantly kill them though, so it's like bloody mess in that it's mostly cosmetic, with a teeny tiny bonus. --Macros 08:06, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
- It doesnt instantly kill them?If all limbs detach....doesnt that mean that the head goes aswell? That'd cause instadeath Butter 12:15, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
- The script effect only applies on death, which means you still have to kill them the old fashioned way. Besides, a weapon with an 80% chance to kill a Behemoth on the first swing? No way. --Macros 20:34, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
- Ahoy, it's my GECK-checking buddy Macros! Hi! (I'm the guy who discussed the Dogmeat health bug with you in some detail a while back. :) Thanks as always for your research here. What about the part of the article that says it "does 700 points of damage when you critically hit an enemy?" Is that information in the GECK also? 'Cause that seems kinda... scary. Sounds like a guaranteed kill in Sneak mode, anyway, and super-nice with the Ninja perk (+15% crit) in VATS mode (+15% crit)... seven swings with 140 AP, with every other hit (statistically, anyway) being a critical that deals 700 damage? I just can't see losing a fight once you get this thing. So is the 700 point thing legit or what? Violent minds wanna know! 12.204.48.130 09:23, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- The person who added that part was just a vandal (see their edit). Furthermore, I double-checked the GECK, and this weapon only does 40 bonus damage on a critical hit. --Macros 11:02, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks! I was afraid that was too good to be true. (Incidentally, this was the version that I read... I wouldn't have swallowed it if I had seen all that stupid stuff about deleting your savegames, etc. I do gots me a college edu-macation, ahyuck! ;) Currently, the article is saying "deals 250% damage to limbs," which could be more vandalism. It's kinda useless even if it is true, since we can't target limbs with melee weapons. (At least, not in VATS... I suppose it's possible to "target" a limb in real-time combat, but it's not worth the trouble IMHO.) I'm still going to grab this axe and swing it like a fiend. The AP cost is really nice, if nothing else. 12.204.48.130 07:58, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
- I added the 250% thing at the same time I removed the 700 damage thing. Jack the Ripper has a similar effect. It's to fit in with the "dismemberer" theme. Since you can't actually sever limbs while they're still alive, the next best thing is crippling. --Macros 19:22, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Damn little kids. That pisses me off that 6-year old kids use this wiki as a stress outlet of swears everytime they get busted for porn by their parents. Can't we just lock all the damn pages? (Or at least the ones that have a history of vandalism?)--Master of cheeZ 17:50, September 3, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Best Melee for Sneak Characters?
I only used this weapon and the chinese stealth suit to rape everyone in Point Lookout.... This was actually the first time I liked melee weapons...Anyone agree this weapon is possibly the best melee weapon in the game? I mean, I kill anyone with one swing in sneak, even those overlords....The best thing is that when I finish VATS and not kill the target, it's in CAUTION not in DANGER, so I usually kill them in the second VATS attack....Oh please can anyone tell me what's better? Tri-beam or Metal Blaster... I cant make up so I'll you people decide.... BloodOmelet 1:25 June 29, 2009 (UTC)
BLASTER!!!! cause 9 is a larger number of beams than 3,and 1 of is a lesser amount of ammo than 3
and to anser your question, i'm pretty sure thing has a 5x critical multiplyer, leaving me caught between deathclaw and this. but since i'm dead broke, and don't have point lookout, but played it at a freinds, i guess i'll stick with deathy--JoeHanSon 05:51, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
^^^ deathclaw gaunlet is h2h/unarmed not melee rite?? -YES
You do realize ANY weapon is destructive with the CSA because YOU'RE FRIGGIN INVISIBLE! That doesn't make the weapon great, it makes the CSA great. And the undisputed best melee weapon is the Shishkebab w/ pyromaniac, no questions asked. 68.192.9.90 00:13, September 13, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] unconfirmed bugs
- Sometimes kills with this weapon can cause bugs. Such as Killing Plik then reloading the game can cause him to turn invisible and knocking Nadine unconscious may cause her to fall through the ship and swim beneath it after she wakes up. (seems like a general FO3 bug)
please verify this bug with more than one verification before moving this to the article. Thanks--Kingclyde 17:22, September 3, 2009 (UTC)
