I stab people[]

Ok, im not sure the trivia connection between 'stabhappy' and 'i stab people. holds any water.' The only connection is the word stab, and if that is all you have, why not say it is a reference to butcher pete? I mean, they are both about stabbing. Why not ref all songs that say something about stabbing? 98.117.127.24 00:09, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

I'm going to have to agree with you there. He doesn't even say happy in the song, much less make a reference that he's somehow pleased with something. Hell, if you listen to it, he's trying to seek help at the start. I know I might be making too much sense to whoever put up the trivia connection in the first place, but MAYBE "Stabhappy" refers to it's increase in damage (especially that versus limbs) and it's very low AP cost, allowing you to stab everyone in the room at least once. Lawlimnator 03:50, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

It's one of the few melee weapons that can reach 100% critical rate. I suppose if that doesn't make you happy, you're too hard to please. More to the point, why are we removing trivial content from the page? If the paragraph says it *might* be a reference to something, we should accept that it's just a *suggestion* of a *possibility* and not get bent out of shape about it. Let's stop wasting time removing benign content and instead spend it thinking of something to contribute. Ash Nuke AshRandom (Talk) 05:28, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
So yes, it can reach an awesome crit rate, but what does that have to do with that song? If it is a refrence, put it down, but the connection to that song to too far fetched. 98.117.100.123 00:59, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
It doesn't take a masters level degree in literature to understand that it's a song[1] about a guy who loves stabbing people so much he can't stop himself. Ash Nuke AshRandom (Talk) 02:17, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
Well, Butcher Pete likes to stab people, why not include that and every song involving a knife? And Lawminator makes a good point, stabhappy is not even sung in that song. Im sorry, but it is not very concrete, and the refrence is pure speculation. Big McLargeHuge 03:14, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
Sure, why not include them, anything from pop culture or pulp fiction is a possible reference. Throw Micheal Myers in there too if you like, pretty much any psycho with a knife can go stabhappy. Ash Nuke AshRandom (Talk) 03:48, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
I think it's too conjectural to include in the article. Ausir 03:54, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
Butcher Pete is double-entendre; the song is either about a murderer or a philanderer, depending on how you interpret the lyrics. Choppin that meat means having sex, not killing people. As far as Stabhappy's name is concerned, the term "stab-happy" has been in use as slang (internet slang and otherwise) for some time. Take a look at this zelda comic, for example: http://www.zeldacomic.net/episode-136-stab-happy/ 76.123.119.26 07:48, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
I thought the term Stabhappy was similar to the phrase 'trigger happy,' in that one who wields this weapon is happy when he/she stabs. 68.192.9.90 01:13, November 2, 2009 (UTC)

irony[]

There's something ironic in the article about a knife that damages limbs being a 'stub'.Shadowgm 15:12, 23 December 2008 (UTC)Shadowgm

It'd be even funnier if it amputated limbs

GECK question[]

What is the critical rate on Stabhappy? Seems like I'm getting criticals 50% of the time (finesse, and 8 luck doesn't add up to that much...)--AshRandom 22:23, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

"Crit % Mult" is 4.0 (compared to 3.0 for the standard combat knife) which I'd read as 4 times the normal critical rate. // Porter21 U | T | C 14:07, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
Wow, so I was getting ((8+5)*4) = 52%... Now it makes sense how with 13 in melee weapons (10dmg), I was able to stab Super Mutant Brutes to death with one VATS (base of 140AP - 8atks). Stabhappy is a beast, I bet I would have been able to outright kill Deathclaws with it had I specialized in melee. --AshRandom 14:19, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
It's true, the weapon is surprisingly effective. I strongly recommend using this weapon with the Better Criticals perk. With that it can can cut people down very quickly. --Clean Up 22:49, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Wait, so how would I calculate the critical rate for this weapon? I have 10 luck (8 luck base plus the Lucky 8-ball and Lucky shades), Finesse, and Ninja. --Clean Up 03:01, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
First off you've got to find your base critical chance. For you it's 10+5+15. This equals 30 (but only for melee weapons, your base is 15). This number is then multiplied by 4 (if my understanding of critical multiplier is correct) so you've got a critical hit chance of 120%. This number is then rolled against a 100 imaginary die (game engine takes care of this) and checked. This however is superfulous as you've got over a hundred chance. Nice ain't it? I've got a similar situation with 10 Luck, Finesse and Survival Guru. I've got a base 18 for everything.--KnightNapier 21:45, December 3, 2009 (UTC)

"One V.A.T.S. round"? What?[]

"With its low AP requirement of 17, an agile player can kill a room full of raiders in one VATS round, especially if you have Grim Reaper's Sprint" What the hell does that statement mean? if I understand it's completely misleading because Grim Reaper's Sprint only affects AP when you exit VATS. It does not immediately restore AP if you kill someone in VATS and more moves are to be made. Either way, even if it did, it would not help you because you can't continue to use these AP points without exiting VATS and choosing your attacks again, if "One V.A.T.S round," means entering and exiting VATS for one session. MaseFace 21:28, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

you have no understanding of grim reapers sprint, whenever you kill someone using vats, let me repeat that, WHENEVER YOU KILL SOMEONE USING VATS ALL YOUR AP IS RESTORED, NO MORE, NO LESS got it? your ap in no way re-spawns completely if you simply exit vats or kill someone without using vats, try to think straight! what a dumbass...Toolazytomakeaaccount 01:15, November 1, 2009 (UTC)
No need to be an asshole. -Aguy76 20:30, July 24, 2010 (UTC)
The point is, Tooly, that if you kill someone in VATS with Grim Reaper's Sprint, you cannot allocate the restored action points until after that round of VATS. MaseFace is right to say that it's inconsistent with how Grim Reaper's Sprint works. Kris (talk) 20:57, July 24, 2010 (UTC)

Multiple stabhappys?[]

Just wondering if you can get more than one if you shoot it out of the dudes hand and leave, then wait three days and another one respawns on him. It works for the reservists rifle so maybe it will work for this. Also might it work with plunketts valid points or occam's razer? OR THE KNEECAPPER????64.222.110.136 20:31, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Don't worry, you can simply kill and loot the Raider for it - he respawns every 3 days. 90.187.33.203 17:18, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

You can also get the other weapons you mentioned that way, including the terrible shotgun by shooting the weapon out of their hands

Incorrect damage?[]

So, with 100 in melee weapons, 10 STR, Ghoul Ecology, Superior Defender, and Bloody Mess, my 100% condition Stabhappy has a DAM rating of 26. This page claims it is 30. I can't think of anything that would affect the DAM stat that isn't listed above, so I'm not sure what to do here... 68.192.9.90 01:01, November 2, 2009 (UTC)

The DPS displayed in the weapon template is not really related to the ingame damage rating. It's calculated directly from the GECK values for the weapon. -- Porter21 (talk) 01:05, November 2, 2009 (UTC)
Oh... so there's nothing wrong with my game? That's comforting. Thanks. 68.192.9.90 01:40, November 4, 2009 (UTC)

Not just the Raid Shack....[]

I found Stabhappy on one of the raiders that was attacking Dogmeat. Stabhappy might be found in one or two more locations.

{{SUBST:K94}} 15:05, January 24, 2010 (UTC)

According to the GECK, it's only loaded onto the Raid Shack Raider. Nitty Tok. 15:09, January 24, 2010 (UTC)
I know this is late in the day so to speak but I have not visited the shack yet on this play-through and have two of them through random drops (PS3 - GOY edition all DLC's loaded). I have the vanilla version of Fallout 3 also but cannot verify I ever found a random drop in that game version. Philbert4114 (talk) 22:59, April 19, 2015 (UTC)

The "Semi-Unique" factor[]

after discussing Sydney's Ultra 10mm SMG,i thought it was Semi unique since it respawns, what about stabhappy, they said it respawns every 73 hrs (in game time)

It has the unusual property of being a unique-classified weapon that does, in fact, respawn. Kris mailbox 18:37, August 11, 2010 (UTC)

ive obtained a minimum of 5 copies of Stabhappy in 100% condition, yet it is still classified as a "Unique Combat Knife

It's classified as such because its editor ID is WeapUniqueStabhappy and it only appears in one place (not including TestQAWeapons): on that one raider, which bears the designation UniqueRaiderMeleeStabHappy. Kris mailbox 18:43, August 11, 2010 (UTC)

Now i get it,it is unique,it just is on a respawning raider TrueElite 18:46, August 11, 2010 (UTC)

Yes; a raider that respawns probably due to a bug, since she's marked as unique and therefore shouldn't be set to respawn. Kris mailbox 18:47, August 11, 2010 (UTC)

they should fix that, mabye in another patch, they should also fix the bug with the 10mm Ultra SMG,because you can obtain both an infinate amount of times ,Elite 18:51, August 11, 2010 (UTC)

it's highly unlikely that they'll release any more patches, especially including fixes for such trivial issues. Kris mailbox 18:54, August 11, 2010 (UTC)

I was freaking out![]

When I repeatedly killed the raider holding the stabhappy, but only getting a "Combat Knife" when looting him, until I decided to add the item through console.

For my surprise, in the Spanish version of Fallout 3 the Stabhappy and the combat knife have THE SAME NAME -.- it's just the Stabhappy has more damage (when I compared with a regular console added combat knife)

I don't know if this should be pointed here but surely I'm going to point it on the Spanish The Vault wiki. Wertoret 18:03, October 7, 2010 (UTC)
