An account which items can be used to repair a (the?) shady hat, would surely be useful. Ordinary pre-war hats and pre-war basecaps apparently aren't doing the job. (Or do I have to stick to the repair services of others?) Lb 20:45, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
It's probably an oversight, but the Shady Hat doesn't have any entry for repair objects in the .esm. After the G.E.C.K. comes out it'd be pretty easy to mod that, but that only helps if you're on PC.--126.96.36.199 23:38, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
The shady hat loses no functionality at all as it degrades, so repairing it isn't exactly necessary (1 DR from 100 to 0%)
Has any1 else had where it turns white after equipping winterized T-51b helmet?--188.8.131.52 17:27, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Moved from article Edit
Quest Strategies already covered on quest page
- You can go kill all of the Mirelurks BEFORE the quest starts to make the quest easy or have your companion kill them during the quest.
- However, the easiest way to do this quest without killing any Mirelurks is to go through the back door that you would typically exit out of after installing the transmitter for Moira. Simply pick the lock on the door, run for the egg clutch at the far end of the room, activate it and leave before you take more than a hit or two from the Mirelurks. The door is NOT pointed at by the quest arrow. It is a large steel door that faces the waterfront.
- Another easy way to do this is to enter through the drainage pipe under the adjacent water line. It is towards the corner of the monument that has crumbled away. One simply swims in, places the observer in a clutch along the wall, and leaves the same way without ever even seeing a Mirelurk.
Unconfirmed Bug [Stacking the hat with Button's wig] appears to break in the Point Lookout DLC during the Walking with Spirits quest, whther or not Nadine removes the scar(unconfirmed, Xbox 360 version). The DLC itself does not seem to affect wearing both, so it's possibly a glitch due to a limit on the number of status effects present at the same time. --Gothemasticator 18:51, October 29, 2009 (UTC)
Has anyone else noticed it? When i equipped the shady hat with the Ghoul mask, it appeared to be town around the edge of the brim, showing bits of the Ghoul Mask underneath. I took the hat off and my PC's hair still showed through the "tears". Is this intentional or a glitch on my part?
It may be a minor clipping error. Nothing you can really do about that.--Hollow Points 00:04, December 13, 2009 (UTC)Hollow Points
Converted note to bug: testing requested Edit
I changed this note: "This can be worn along with the Pre-War Hat at the same time." to a bug, since I didn't see any reason in the game files why this would be so, and ingame testing didn't find it to be true. I need someone using an unmodded PC version (since mine is heavily modded) as well as xbox360 ps3 to test this and report back. Make sure you do NOT have the Chinese stealth armor (Operation: Anchorage) equipped as that will invalidate the test. Thanks. Kris (talk) 18:47, July 28, 2010 (UTC)
I encountered a bug where I was temporarily able to wear the Shady Hat on top of my Winterized T51b power helmet. It was nice while it lasted, but unequipping the helmet made me unable to duplicate this bug, no matter what order I tried equipping the hat and helmet. pc --Lastarael (talk) 08:35, October 10, 2012 (UTC)
