Another bug ? Edit

After a while of playing with my evil character, I noticed that when I returned to a place I had fought and killed regulators at, their bodies would still be there, and their blown-off heads had somehow regenerated. That's all good and well, except the heads do not match the bodies... they're all exactly the same, have pale skin and dark haired buzz cuts. After that, whenever I run into regulators, they all have the same "dead" heads. No matter if they're black, white, hispanic or asian, their heads are all the same. If I kill them their bodies will stay there, and if I blew their heads off, they'll eventually reattach themselves to the bodies. I'm playing on the PS3 version. --Penumbra 17:02, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

The Regulators are always like that for me, and from what I've seen in other pictures on the internet they always seem to be like that. Hopefully they'll notice it and fix it in a patch. OverLord of Chaos 23:00, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
That happened to me too! i play on xbox 360 though i'm not sure but i think they might disapear when they respawn a number of times but again i'm not sure so don't go acting all happy. And i agree it's basicly the ash dust pile glitch.

After over a year of playing, all regulators that come after my evil characters have this so-called "racist bug"... The article says it's rare, but it happens in all my games. And when I got the GOTY version I even deleted the old Fallout 3 files and everything... --Penumbra 07:47, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

Regulators as your enemy Edit

I've tested the notion that if your karma ever touches evil, even if you quickly move it back up to being good, you will eventually run into Regulators. I find that this simply doesn't occur. There are two "types" of encounters once you've made a faction your enemy: the first "random" one, wherein either the Regulators or the Talon Company talk to you and say why they're about to fight you. This encounter never happens if you're good. In addition, the second type of encounter is where you're simply assaulted - usually occurring only after experiencing the first encounter. It generally happens leaving interior exploration areas, fast traveling to certain locations, or randomly in the wastes. I've tried manipulating random encounter locations as well as the other situations in order to make them appear but to no avail. I was able to make the second sort of encounter happen when I turned totally evil and toyed with random encounter locations. My thinking is that the first sort of encounter (that is, where you are talked to) can only happen once. This is to say that you can only make one faction totally angry with you (such that they pursue you across karma lines). I plan on testing it a bit more myself, but perhaps more by PC players would be appropriate if the interest is there. All of this was observed on the 360. -Esker 23:44, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

More testing was done regarding this matter. On a character that had the "talk" with Talon Company, and then turned evil, I was able to get Regulators to come after me. Only while I was evil, and only the second type of encounter (hostility immediately). The only time I was able to get both factions (Talon and Regulators) to appear together and actually start attacking eachother was when I went from Very Evil, to slightly good, to neutral. They both appeared trying to talk to me, and instead mauled one another. With that sole exception, it seems the game sends only one or the other after you during the encounter sort that is more common and therefore more relevant. In short, if you're evil, you have ONLY the Regulators attack you. If you're good, ONLY the Talon Mercs are out for you. The only time I was able to encounter a member of the "other faction" (in this case, I was evil and managed to get Talons to appear) was when I fast traveled to an area I had already been, and the ambushed had not been triggered. In other words, the Talons presumably were waiting to be spawned since I had passed nearby earlier (while I was still good). Even in this instance I was not able to make both factions appear at once, only the opposite one appear alone. I am wary to edit anything either here or on the karma page, where I'll likely take some of this later on, because this seems to be contrary to general consensus. -Esker 03:21, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Also, it seems that they do not attack a player who has the Lawbringer perk, presumably because the PC is officially one of them. Or it may be that my Karma quickly went from neutral the very good because of the number of fingers I was bringing in. Maybe the probability of seeing either faction is linked to the PC's karma level. This would make sense, as I see Talon Company a lot. It would also make sense logically, if you think about it. The Regulators are more likely to try to hunt down someone who singlehandedly massacred an entire town than a petty thief. And they are not very likely to hunt down someone who went from being slightly evil but went on to be a hero. So, maybe I still can be attacked by Regulators, just the chance of it happening is negligible.

Pack of 2 Edit

Just encountered a pack of 2 Regulators, no cowboy hats on either (unfortunately :P), and I had just come out of the Derelict area of the MDPL-13 Power Station. Didn't see a third skulking around anywhere...

They probably were slaughtered...oh and no regulators(Except Sonora cruz and lucas simms) ever wear a hat Fo2 BozarTime to die, bitch. 16:03, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

A weird bug Edit

I went to the Regulators' HQ and entered, and there was this Regulator that was fleeing from me and was hostile. I gunned her down and nobody paid attention. There was a bounty for me, but I was on the Very Good karma level. Has this ever happened to anybody else before? (PC) 15:43, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

all regulators there have a bounty on you

So, I was playing on a neutral character, and, while doing the side quests from Broken Steel, I found both these guys AND Talon Company Mercs. Lucky for me, they had mostly killed each other off by the time I found them, and they were wounded. Has this happened to anyone else? Arcdash 10:37, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Regulators and Raiders is a reference to the two groups in Andersonville, a Confederate prison used to house Union troops during the Civil War. The Raiders were a group of basically bandits and thieves that would assault and murder fellow captives in order to boost their own prison existence. The Regulators is a group of Union captives that joined together and brought the Raiders to justice. .....just food for thought....

mad fawks Edit

I just got the lawbringer perk and travelled to the regulater HQ with fawks. All of a sudden they turn hostile not to me but to fawks. All the regulaters die exept for Soma cruz is this some kind of bug?

This happens to me a lot. i gave up on him. I was in the republic of Dave and was happily talking and walking and this that and everything then, suddenly Fawkes has an idea alone the lines of "Hey Jasper, this sounds like a laugh, im gunna fire up my Gatterling Lazer and shoot up all you friends, 'Kay?" to which I reply "Fawks, what you doing fool?" then everyone died. That happens around me alot. JASPER42

Funding Edit

Just curious - who may be funding the Regulator activities since there is NO major economic power in Capital Wasteland. To put it straight - Sonora and her guys will nedd caps to both behave like Adeptus Arbites of the wastes and pay 10 caps for fingers

The same way a good aligned character makes theirs - killing evil characters and selling their loot.--Ishotamaninnewreno 23:52, October 8, 2009 (UTC)

Regulators leader bug Edit

every time I go to the regulators HQ rad scorpions or deathclaws or something shoes up and the Regulators leader runs off. One time I had to go look for her she wound up dead after a week of in game searching I have reloded that save so its all right now but the rad scorpion thing still happens will someone explain this is on xbox

Ok so i was playing Fallout 3 for X Box 360 and i went to go deliver some fingers to the Regulators HQ i go inside and the Regulators start attacking Fawks there not showing hostale toward me and Fawks quickly kills them i have very good Karma and the lowest my Karma has ever got was neutral when i looted the Regulators the had a Bounty note on them why is this does it have something to do with me destroying the Enclave computer???

White Head, Black Arms. Edit

I found two regulators with a white head and black arms. CheezeWEEPツ 00:22, February 11, 2010 (UTC)

Whoops Edit

I forgot to leave the reason why I edited the page. Someone decided to add ionformation that was an obvious joke.Pittsburgh Phil 17:07, February 12, 2010 (UTC)

How repeatable are they ? Edit

So after encountering regulators/talon mercs on all possible encounter places (so far as I know they only show up at metro station and some wasteland building entrances) they just won't show up anymore ? Their bodies never vanish and now I'm left with 2 regulator dusters at 0 durability, which kinda sucks coz I prefer using them... --Penumbra 07:52, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

Locations! Edit

The list of locations I added a while ago, I do not know if this is of any importance, but the list was compiled on an Xbox 360. So, it could be that it doesn't match with any other of the platforms the game runs on, but I do not know for sure. Sadist King 17:28, May 10, 2010 (UTC)Sadist King

As far as I can tell, this list of locations is identical to the list of locations where Talon Company Mercs have been showing up against my Very Good karma character. I'm assuming the list is exactly the same? Dunwitty 10:54, January 23, 2012 (UTC)

Bad karma for self-defense: Edit

I've noticed that whenever you defend yourself against regulators, you lose karma. Even though they are attacking you, so you're doing nothing wrong.

Shouldn't this be mentioned? Is there a way around this? Because this is a pain in the ass when you're trying to regain karma. 07:16, June 17, 2011 (UTC)

Agree this is important! I'm evil from stealing, but the regulators are giving me bad murder-karma :( 14:52, May 11, 2014 (UTC)

Messed up race Regulator Edit

Playing an evil character, my first regulators came to attack. Looted the bodies and one of them had a white face but black limbs.

ToolTime 02:40, July 15, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, it happens with Talon Company Mercs too. I've seen this with my evil character as well. Metalspork (word vomit) 03:42, July 15, 2010 (UTC)
I've had this happen to my own character when I use the console to open the Plastic Surgeon menu and alter the skin tone. Equipping and unequipping an item that covers the miscolored areas will fix it. For me it was the hands, usually, sometimes the whole body aside from the head, so I'd just put the Vault Lab Coat on and then switch back to my regular armor. Kris (talk) 04:19, July 15, 2010 (UTC)
What's weird is with the Talon Company Mercs, this glitch only happens with Broken Steel installed, but with the Regulators happens either way. B2tg 17:37, August 9, 2010 (UTC)

Cleanup Edit

Why is there a cleanup tag on this? It isn't specified.

I cleaned up the article here and there (mainly punctuation, and spelling errors). I guess it was for the general article as a whole. Chaos ian7 20:20, July 30, 2010 (UTC)

Okay. I don't see anything wrong with the article that requires cleanup. I'm suggesting we remove that tag.

Oh. Nevermind.

Possible bug Edit

Just visited the regulators hideout for the first time on my very good character who has been good or vgood through the entire game, tried pickpocketing the regulators there and they were all carrying bounty notices with my name on them.

They are probably simply the same characters (in gameplay-terms), just without the "hunting the bad lone wanderer" script activated.

Bug? Edit

Took the Lawbringer perk, went to Regulator HQ, and BAM! on my way to Mama Dolce's this regulator jumps out of nowhere and attacks me. And I'm very good... Hmmmm....

Regulators attacking kids! Edit

Weird thing, when I fast traveled to the Anacostia Crossing Station I have found a bunch of regulators. Even though my character was evil they weren't hostile towards me. Yet they were hostile towards C.J. Young and James Hargrave! I have waited for few minutes and they have just kept attacking the kids to no avail. Only when I attacked them did they attack me back.

How Else do you meet the regulators? Edit

I know I do NOT have the lawbringer Perk, but I got the invitation when I hit level 5. Kschang (talk) 03:19, September 11, 2012 (UTC)

Never mind. I do have the perk. Kschang (talk) 09:38, October 10, 2012 (UTC)

Glitching bugs & robots Edit

When I'm fast-traveling to the Regulator HQ, there is always a glitch. (XBOX360) First of all, the main regulator, Sonora Cruz always ends up dying even if I load an old save. Giant & albino radscorpions always end up spawning there as well. There's Yao Guais and securitrons. It's pissing me off and now the regulators want to kill me? I headed over there and some Enclave came into the HQ and killed them. I searched them and ended up finding a contract saying that I killed Sonora?
