If you used all 90 Quantums with v2 Schematics, you would make 180 Grenades; the same amount as if you turned in 30 and made the rest Grenades with v3 Schematics. This is assuming you find all 90, which not everyone has (or wants to.) I have ~110 quantums after giving 30 to Sienna, and I haven't even found all of those in the world. Remember: Nuka-Cola Vending Machines randomly create quantums.—ErzengelLichtes (Contribs) 20:02, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
Well, if you give 30 to Sierra, and find all 60, with v3, you get the same amount as if you didn't, but if you find even a single random Quantum, and I've found about 10 of them, then you definitely get more out of it. forgot to sign in Fiddlesoup 21:29, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

I find that this grenade is extremely inaccurate, especially when in confined places or where the target is above or below you. Many times the grenade hits the ceiling and bounces back into you, causing a lot of damage against yourself.128.252.78.81 19:24, 21 November 2008 (UTC)anomynous

This sentence makes no sense.

"When thrown, the grenade produces a high powered explosion seconded only to the Fatman's Mini Nuke explosion, and Bottlecap Mine (with perks)."

Doc Hoff

"If Doc Hoff dies ... you CANNOT retrieve the schematics from his brahmin/inventory."

This is not true. In my experience with the PC version, Doc Hoff was killed by a Yao Guai outside of Megaton and had the schematics on his body. 68.5.15.212 01:11, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

To the best of my knowledge, the inventory of the four traders is kept in locked containers in Canterbury Commons, and the traders themselves, when killed, should only have a weapon, clothes, and a key to that container. This is supposed to prevent the player from killing the traders for their goods at a low level (though why Bethesda would want to prevent that is beyond me). --68.255.6.203 23:29, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
I think they did it because it would make the merchants worthless targets, they know most players will initially check to see if sacking them is worth it, then revert to a save. From my experience keeping them in the game changes everything, without them it can be really hard to sell off equipment, no other traders reach the 1000-2000 caps-on-hand range like the traveling merchants can. I originally got the schematics from Doc Hoff. Started using them early on. For some reason however I can't seem to do any damage to the Family with these. I figured I wanted to go vampire hunting (revenge for Twilight) and they suck blood and doesn't afraid of anything, what, do I need a wooden stake launcher? - some guy

Pyromaniac?

This page says the Nuka Grenade isn't affected by the Pyromaniac perk, but the pyromaniac page says it is. Whic 1 is right?Crimmastermind 23:22, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

It looks like someone changed this page to match the Pyromaniac page, when they should have done the opposite. Unless someone with a GECK knows something that I don't, Nuka Grenades are not affected by Pyromaniac. At least, not based on my experiences in-game, and not based on the listed in-game damage stats (I recently loaded a save near a level up and compared the listed pre- and post-pyro damage, both of which were identical, and a Behemoth took just as many grenades to take down pre- and post-Pyro, as well). I'll edit it out on both pages unless and until someone comes forward with more knowledge of the inner workings of the game that says otherwise. Some Sort 07:52, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Awesome Bug

Since I found it, it's officially not cheating to use it. I gave Sierra the final set of Quantums (in my case 10), the conversation automatically ends, I get caps and the Nuka Grenade Schematic. Then I hit tab, DROPPED the Quantum. If I pick them back up at any time, the quest ends and I get XP. However, slicing Sierra into flaming bits before picking them up fails the quest, and then you get to keep them all. I loaded an earlier game and try again. This only seems to work if you are NOT trading the entire set of Quantum at once. That is, you must have successfully traded at least 1 Quantum to Sierra successfully. I'm not certain, but another criteria might be closing the deal by trading MORE than the final required amount. However I am able to reliably replicate the bug. I started with 31 Quantum, I am currently carrying 30 and have the 3.0 Schematic.

To clarify the working formula: 1) Get 31 Quantum. 2) Drop 30 and trade 1 Quantum to Sierra. 3) Pick up 30 Quantum, say "I've fount the last Quantum!" and VERY QUICKLY enter your inventory and drop them again. 4) Affirm that you have the next level Nuka Schematic. 5) Turn Sierra into flaming chunky meat-lovers' pizza. 6) Wait for Quest failure message, and pick up 30 remaining Quantum. 67.244.2.127 01:29, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

Is that an explosion in your pocket, or...?

I saw this in the article: "On the PC you can also pick up the "Nuka Grenade Blast" with your E button. It will then appear in your inventory and if you drop it it explodes again on top of you and you die." Now, this is interesting. If you pick it up successfully, will it not do any damage to you? And in that case, could you just stuff it into a container somewhere (instead of dropping it on the ground) so that it doesn't hurt you? Even better, this thing might just have some wonderful applications. For example, could you use the console to "place" a Nuka explosion under an NPC / enemy? Yeah, I know you could just chuck a grenade at them, but I love doing stupid stuff with the command console, OK? However, we're gonna need an ID number for this bad boy first. I'll see if I can figure out the ID(s) and any possible devious uses, and I'll try and report back soon. Even if the only thing I can manage to do with it is to drop it out of my inventory, that still has potential..... at least with God Mode turned on, muwahahaha... hey, buddy, I've got a pocket full of explosions, so don't mess with me!! That could be like a much more awesome version of Nuclear Anomaly, you know? Hmm. Now I wonder if other kinds of explosions can be "grabbed" out of the air... Fat Man explosion, anyone?
