Where is this location based on a more prominent place than Mesquite Mountains Campsite? User:Anonymous --128.193.244.24 18:07, October 27, 2010 (UTC)

  • Head Northwest from Mojave Outpost. That's how I discovered the camp site and the crater. Also, going that general direction, it placed me way above the crater allowing me to pick off the ghouls there without them knowing, or taking rad 'damage'. --ParallaxFallout 22:45, October 27, 2010 (UTC)
If you're careful enough creeping up from that direction, you can drop onto the roof of the building and get in very quickly with limited radiation exposure as well. Wunengzi 23:46, February 24, 2011 (UTC)

Player house[]

Due to the lack of rads in the house, one could use it as player home. I'm not sure if the map marker puts the player at the door or at the main entrance of the crater. If the former is true, that could lower the use of the area. Also, the ghouls outside could respawn (needs confirmation) but other than that, it seems like it could be OK player housing. Adds a nice little RP feel to it. --24.7.128.85 04:02, January 17, 2011 (UTC)

I thought of that too and would have if it didn't put me on the far edge of the crater where I was immediately swarmed by the respawned Reavers and 4-5 misc. lesser ghouls. To me when I'm going "home' I really don't want to have to plow my way through a bunch of stuff to get to the front door. --EluveitieRagnarok (talk) 14:48, December 18, 2012 (UTC)

Safe Storage?[]

Can the containers in Hells Motel be used for storage?

The Irradiated food and water[]

What is the point of the irradiated food (ie irradiated salsbury steak) or irradiated water?--98.100.201.110 01:17, August 28, 2011 (UTC)

It's just fun food items that add more flavor to the game. You'd expect to see irradiated food somewhere... --Kastera (talk) 03:35, August 28, 2011 (UTC)
You can take Rad-X and eat/drink it just fine.

i noticed that the bottle on dr rotson gives a -137 H2O, even when not on hardcore mode

Judgement call on separating locations[]

Would there be any opposition to splitting Hell's Motel to its own location? I am thinking similar to Camp Searchlight / Camp Searchlight trailer park. I am quite open to suggestions and opinions either way. Please and thank you! Kdarrow (talk) 15:37, November 12, 2019 (UTC)

I wouldn't do it. Camp Searchlight is a much larger location, a town, and this is just a crater with a house in it. Jspoel Speech Jspoel 18:48, November 12, 2019 (UTC)
Sounds good to me. I was thinking more along the lines of the split seen between Camp Searchlight's trailer park and Camp Searchlight itself - the trailer park having its own entry. That is where my thoughts were going anyway! Kdarrow (talk) 21:14, January 27, 2020 (UTC)

Real World Location Rationale[]

Is there any opposition to removing the real-world location? It has no citation, and the crater neither looks like the mine nor is located in the same mountain range. --Brendan McCoy-fduser (talk) 01:31, July 26, 2020 (UTC)

Hi there! This is a good question. The Colosseum Mine does not have its own wikipedia, but it is located fairly close to the in-game location (GPS coord 35.567570, -115.569070). It looks spot on, you can check it out here, or here for some visuals. My most recent photo of the locale is here if you are interested in scoping it out. It is a super cool place! -Kate (Kdarrow (talk) 01:39, July 26, 2020 (UTC))
I dunno, other than the fact that it's a depression filled with green water, they don't look similar to me. The combination of that, being in different mountain ranges, and there being no official citation, it seems completely speculative. I do love your site, though, I discovered it earlier today looking for photo references for yet another table-top Fallout implementation ;) --Brendan McCoy-fduser (talk) 02:44, July 26, 2020 (UTC)
That sounds awesome! And thank you so much for saying so about the ol' wasteland guide. Means a lot to me, truly! Anywho, I can see your point, I will remove the bts. See you around the wiki! -Kate (Kdarrow (talk) 10:15, July 26, 2020 (UTC))
