Skill[]

It's unarmed, according to QA tester Pushasha. Don't change it back to survival without solid evidence. Thanks. :) --Kris 19:20, September 6, 2010 (UTC)

Kris, I got the information that it was Survival from Intact Garden Gnome on the Bethesda Forums. He said that it was +10 to Survival. He got the info from PAX and played the demo. Perhaps they changed A Lad's Life from Unarmed to Survival in the final cut?

@Nitty, I think you're thinking of Pugilism Illustrated. But I haven't heard any word on that being in the game officially yet, or if it's a skill magazine and not skillbook in New Vegas. --Volundarkvioa 19:29, September 6, 2010 (UTC)

That sounds like the magazine; this one's the book. I still say we should go by what Pushasha says until such a time as that information is confirmed by a more definitive source, or contradicted. --Kris 19:33, September 6, 2010 (UTC)

I went ahead and undeleted Boxing Times; whether A Lad's Life is for Unarmed or Survival, Boxing Times doesn't conflict with it since one's a skill magazine and the other is a skill book. I'm fine with leaving the page as-is until we know for sure which it is. --Kris 19:38, September 6, 2010 (UTC)

Book or magazine[]

Short of looking it up in the GECK (which isn't released yet) or using it, how does one tell if something is a magazine or a skill book? More to the point, is this a skill book or a magazine? --Kris 12:22, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

You know when it is a book, because if you select that item in your pip-boy, the action will say "read" for books and "use" for magazines.

Bugs[]

There is a bug when you use Lad's life to temporarily increase your survival skill, workbenches will not recognize the survival skill level change and allow you to craft items at the new skill level. Can you confirm this? Try reloading your game or powering down your console and see if they same thing happens. Even if it is a bug, it's not a particularly devastating one. The only craftables that use a workbench and Survival are datura hide from Honest Hearts and the Survival skill book from Old World Blues. --Kastera ^(talk) 14:48, September 29, 2013 (UTC)
