Source[]

Do we have a source for anything on this page? It reads like speculation or the beginnings of someone's bad fanfiction. Richie9999 (talk) 02:59, October 12, 2017 (UTC)

We have Rivet City terminal entries#Android log 3:

Android log 3
Reading this entry adds the Harkness note to the player's Pip-Boy.

I got those memories into that Android like I was God sending down messages from Heaven. Calls himself "Harkness" now. Thinks he's an old combat veteran. Did a little extra tinkering with his reflex system. He's certainly not someone I'd want to meet in a fight. When he "woke up" he was all confused. We told him he was in a coma for a long time. Between the new memories and the new face I gave him, there isn't anyone that would recognize him. Not even himself!

Memories from a combat veteran that existed, but idk where any other information came from. Just sounds like a generic definition of a combat veteran. I believe the question should be is there enough for the article to stand alone? I know there are much shorter articles on here already. Xa3 (talk) 04:00, October 12, 2017 (UTC)

I think it's a tough one. I'd like to say no because we know so little about him, but as you said we have a ton of articles about people we know very little about. I think it's not worth it because we cannot say more than "Harkness was (is?) an old combat veteran." - FDekker talk 04:27, October 12, 2017 (UTC)
I linked it in Discord, don't know if/when anyone else will weigh in. Xa3 (talk) 04:32, October 12, 2017 (UTC)

The fact we have that information saying the memories were downloaded says to me that harness was real in name at least. What is concerning at this point is that the contents of the memories that Pinkerton installed were completely unknown to him at the time. Are we comfortable that the memories installed are from the same individual, or is there doubt here? Sakaratte - Talk to the catmin 07:13, October 12, 2017 (UTC)

I'm all for the memories coming from the same individual. Xa3 (talk) 13:42, October 12, 2017 (UTC)
I think we should verify branch of service and the part about the wife. Great Mara (talk) 16:07, October 12, 2017 (UTC)
The memories come from Vault 112, a place where the Overseer regularly wipes people's memories and replaces them with new ones. So there is definite doubt there. Also, nothing says the character was pre-War nor part of any military. Paladin117>>iff bored; 20:41, October 25, 2017 (UTC)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Good point, Vault 112 terminal entries don't explain why they are there, so we don't know if they are generated from the characters or not. It could be a real person, or the memories of an individual who has had their memories altered. It falls to a philosophical argument for me? Are the memories of a person in a simulation, those of a real person or a fabricated one? Sakaratte - Talk to the catmin 20:45, October 25, 2017 (UTC)
