Inception[]
Anybody else have the idea that the Gunners are the result of the Vault 75 experiments? They do, after all, inhabit it, and it has a training ground where they could perpetually train... Bodhisattvah (talk) 06:18, January 6, 2016 (UTC)
The original Gunners may have been formed by the survivors of the Vault 75 child-soldiers, since they were basically creating super-soldiers. It would explain their obsession with Pre-War military training and equipment compared to normal raiders or mercs. Atypicaloracle (talk) 20:03, February 27, 2016 (UTC)

The Gunners could of been formed by the remnants of the U.S military. There is evidence that shows elements of the military survived the great war, for example the military take over of Mass Bay Medical Center after the bombs fell and some of the log entries on the directors terminal at Cambridge Polymer Labs. These surviving forces could have eventually formed various mercenary groups after their chain of command broke down following the great war.
Also, maybe the inhabitants of Vault 75 joined the gunners after they emerged. As I find it hard to see people who had been in a vault all their life get as much military equipment as the gunners have, as well as the training and discipline that they have, The former soldiers would know where all the supply caches are. I have a theory that the Gunners are the Gunners because of GNR. It's one of their headquarters locations, quite possibly the original Commonwealth headquarters, and we know factions in the Fallout universe tend to phoneticize things. Whether they were descended of military remnants, or the V75 escapees, it makes a degree of sense. Taolan 05:40, January 29, 2018 (UTC)
Possible equipment bug:[]
I'm currently level 80 and frequently go Gunner Bases such as The Quincy Ruins and The Gunner's Plaza to collect Combat Armor and Plasma weapons. I have noticed that higher level Gunners (Gunner Sergeant, Gunner Lieutenant, Gunner Major, Gunner Commander) NEVER spawn with any kind of headgear.
Almost all basic 'Gunners' will spawn with some type of headgear, either Dirty Army Helmets, Green or Camo Bandanas, and/or various Sunglasses. The Loading screens also show them with Combat Armor Helmets. I have never seen any of these items on the higher level Gunners listed above.
At high levels Gunner Commanders will sometimes spawn in full T-45 power armor-- except for the helmet. The original Gunner Commander in Quincy (forget his name) spawned with a Militia Hat, but I haven't seen any kind of headgear on these enemies since then.
I have to think that this is a bug. I am playing on PC and have several mods installed but none should alter the Gunner's level lists. If anyone has experienced the same thing I would like to hear about it.
Captain highest rank?[]
So the ranks go all the way up to Brigadier, but the leader is a Captain? That doesn't make much sense. There are like 3 ranks above that on random Gunners. 96.247.194.40 04:16, February 2, 2016 (UTC)
Dreth as a Member?[]
Dreth is a trader but she is listed as a member of the Gunners. The Gunners are a merc group and Dreth hired two Gunners to protect her. She is a client, a handler, in no way does she visually or in conversation represent or affiliate herself as a Gunner. So I think she should be removed from the Gunners#Notable_members section. --Musiekutsueki (talk) 03:21, February 7, 2016 (UTC)

Quite unclear to me[]
I was looking for the technical gunners page , to spawn some of them and it seems all allusions to it was
which I found quite unclear. I'm not that good at languages and what I come up with is about as good as the quote or marginally better, thus not worth changing the page over. Could someone make it clearer it's the link to spawn gunners? DynV (talk) 01:42, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
