Little boy kit[]

Who keeps putting the little boy kit because really only put that on when you have EVIDENCE because i doubt they'd put it on since it'd get banned from japan for obvious reasons so yea dont do it ~C-e~r-b~u-r~u-s~ 21:34, June 10, 2010 (UTC)

It was already censored in Japan. Might as well make it fun for the non-nuked audiences. Nitty Tok. 21:36, June 10, 2010 (UTC)

Characteristics move[]

To whomever placed this section in Characteristics, "The Little Boy and Fat Man names are derived from the codenames of the atomic bombs used by the United States in WW2. Little Boy was dropped on Hiroshima and Fat Man was dropped on Nagasaki, both of which are located in Japan.", I've moved it to a new sub-category "behind the scenes" as it's information about history, not an actual characteristic of the fat man in-game.Volundarkvioa 03:33, June 30, 2010 (UTC)

Merge?[]

shouldnt this page be merged with the original Fat Man page?

Ominously?[]

Why is it the 'little boy' kit ominously named? Just seems named. Blestb 16:00, July 31, 2010 (UTC)

Because "little boy" is the codename of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima, Japan by Allied forces. It's "ominously" named that because it's creepy. When you hear "little boy" you don't think of a tactical nuclear catapult. --Volundarkvioa 18:39, August 13, 2010 (UTC)

 • Not by "Allied forces", just by USA. No one else on Allied forces knew about it. Typical coward trick, when something good - USA, when something contorversal - world, allies, democracy etc - anything but not US. 77.11.54.195 12:16, July 18, 2014 (UTC)

No, you think of a little boy.

At any rate the "ominous" wording has been removed, since Little Boy (the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima) is no more or less ominous than Fat Man (the atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki) --Kris mailbox 11:09, August 21, 2010 (UTC)

How it works isn't explained. Anti-gravity? In any event, it's technology level 9 stuff, and I like flavour text. Nitty Tok. 02:33, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

If naming a weapon after the Fat Man Nuclear Bomb wasnt enough, They Added Little boy, Bethesda/Obsidian must really have no problem insulting the Japanese. I'm not even Asian, and I find that a bit bothersome, once was enough. --Kastrenzo 04:22, October 22, 2010 (UTC)

Why should we? It's already removed for Japanese players. Let us have our fun, will ya? Keep that PC bullshit out of Fallout.

I don't see how a person can say Bethesda "Must really have no problem insulting the Japanese", the reason why the name was changed in the Japanese version was to avoid the chance of insulting Japanese players, but also to avoid a media shitstorm which would involve the media going nuts about how Bethesda is a horrible/racist company that is insensitive to all countries but itself. The best reason why Bethesda put those 2 names into the game is because the first 2 nuclear strikes to ever occur were the two bombs dropped on Japan, and it would be impossible to make a game like Fallout which follows the theme of "Nuclear Armageddon" to NOT have references to these 2 bombs.

Seeing someone say that including those 2 names are debliberately added regardless of it possibly being insulting to Japanese players EVEN THOUGH it is common knowledge that the name has been changed for Japanese players AND the person saying Bethesda is being insensitive is complete rubbish and almost racist in itself. The fact that you aren't even Japanese makes your opionion seem incredibly dim witted. Please, if you need to give your opinion about a controversial topic(that isn't even controversial, get your facts straight and stop insulting your own intelligence. --115.64.124.141 10:34, November 9, 2010 (UTC)

I am Japanese and take no offence at all by this the past is the past besides I learn history too and I know that Japan was kind of asking for it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.140.120.65 (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

 • While this may be true, holocausting civilians instead of military or politicians involved, is an act of terrorism, no matter how you twist it.77.11.54.195 12:18, July 18, 2014 (UTC)

Locked Article[]

Can the moderators either unlock this article or give a reason for it being locked?

Please open it up.[]

I found a an undocumeted fat man, and cannot add the article.

It's located on the body of a super mutant when you take the secret passage from red rock canyon to the mountaintop resort. The passage can be seen from red rock village, near the back, on the left side when approaching from the east.

It's a bit hard to get onto this path, but a bit of jumping will get you onto the mountain. This path actually starts a bit south of red rock, at the farmstead, but you can skip a lot of cazadores if you hop on at red rock.

I spent 10 minutes trying to get up that canyon. Does it require a certain agility or something? There might be more cazadores, but it seems easier to get to by starting at Jacobstown, go East one square until the road starts going gently uphill, go South one square, then go Southwest one square to the super mutant. A few more cazadores if you continue along the ravine to the Khans at Red Rock Canyon. GRPeng 22:40, September 14, 2011 (UTC)

UNLOCK THIS TOPIC![]

What is the point of this if we can't edit it?

I found another Fat Man not documented on this page.

***In the Cashier Cage at the UltraLuxe Casino on The Strip.***

Did you happen to find it in the safe mounted in the floor? Did you happen to have a fat man in your inventory prior to entering the casino? ;) --Xaedra 04:18, February 7, 2012 (UTC)

BUG![]

i equipped the little boy mod to the fat man i picked up at the quarry then took it to the mojave outpost and fully repaired it. after that every time i equip it its weight returns to thirty however when i unequip it the weight go's back to 15?????????????????????????

this bug effects all weapons with weight reducing mods, and as far as i know has nothing to do with having it repaired.

Plural[]

Just came to mind, would it be Fat Mans or Fat Men? - RASICTalk 01:30, December 6, 2010 (UTC)

 • Are you English or retarded? When is "mans" ever used in the English language with the exception of possession?
Easiest way to pluralise it without causing argument, would be Fat Man catapults. ☣Avatar☣ 20:38, January 11, 2011 (UTC)

M-62 Davy Crockett[]

I've found nothing on the internet pertaining to an M-62 Davy Crockett. Is this part of fallout lore, because I've never heard it mentioned in the game or real life? In fact a simple google search of "M-62 Davy Crockett" returns a single result, Fat Man (Fallout: New Vegas). Unless someone can explain where this uncited information comes from, I'll be deleting it from the article. DonaldDarko 16:53, May 23, 2011 (UTC)

Damage glitch?[]

On my explosives character, I have three ranks of the Demolitions Expert perk. Now, I'm trying to get this figured out, but when I look at the Fat Man's listed damage, it's marked at 1020. I don't really see how that's possible in any way. Is it bugged? Is it really not affected by the demolitions expert perk? Not that this really matters, as with the patch's damage buff it still kills everything in one hit, but for the accuracy of the page I think this should be noted. Oh, and to avoid complications, I looked at the damage with 100 explosives skill, and not under the influence of any chem or stat-altering effect whatsoever.--FAR-02C 01:55, June 16, 2011 (UTC)

"However, most power armour can withstand mini nuke blasts, even direct ones."[]

I think this remark has no weight in NV. There are no enemies with high enough DT/DR to affect damage from Fat Man. Only a few enemies with very high HP can survive a direct blast. —04:56, August 16, 2011 (UTC)

Take into account in the Fallout Universe, power armor is also completely bulletproof. You gotta trade off canonic(sp?) realism for gameplay. If you made that true in NV, pissing off the Brotherhood of Steel would be suicide.
