New "anon" main page

Goddammit, man, it nearly gave me a heart attack D: MikaelGrizzly 09:52, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Unfortunately, that skin is the wikia default for non-logged in users. Ausir 10:00, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Wikia Gaming IRC channel

Hullo! I am Kirkburn, your friendly local Wikia Gaming Helper!

You may be interested to know there is a Wikia gaming IRC channel (as noted above), #wikia-gaming on chat.freenode.net, where you can hop on, ask for help from users of other gaming wikis, or offer your own experiences. If you are not familiar with IRC clients, you can access it from http://irc.wikia.com/gaming.

Different people may be on sporadically, but we organize weekly chats at a fixed time so we can get the most number of people online at the same time to ask and answer questions, or just to hang out. The admins of some of Wikia's biggest gaming wikis (e.g. WoW, Halo) often attend them. You can find the time for the next chat by following this link.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me! Kirkburn (talk) 20:27, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Main page redesign

I've been working on a main page redesign on User:Kirkburn/Dev - I'd love to get some feedback on it. You can find out more about why it's there on User talk:Kirkburn/Dev. Thanks! Kirkburn (talk) 13:28, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Thank you very much, but I prefer the current one, without the content area ads (with only a banner that doesn't break the main page layout). Ausir 00:59, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
Hi Ausir, I'm afraid the new ads are coming. They are needed to support the free hosting we offer and will be shown on all wikis. We have tried to minimise the impact of this by removing ads on all other pages for logged in users - not a perfect solution of course, but we hope it will help. What's needed on the main page is a 300px column on the right. That will prevent the main page content being pushed down by the second ad when it shows. I've adjusted Kirkburn's draft to be as much like the current main page as possible. Hopefully that will help in the transition. -- sannse (talk) 20:19, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
Is it just me, or do we have a redundant link with the menu on the side? we have the menu>fallout3 tab and also the menu>fallout games>fallout3 tab, surely we only need one of them? I vote for the menu>fallout3 one, because with the generational gap between the old games and the new one it helps partition areas of the site, and stopping pages becoming cluttered with stuff from different games, like the Age of Empires wiki --Frostedfire 02:00, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Why is the primary statistics link red? --Macros 09:02, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

User pages

I am kinda new to wikis and just wanted to know how to set up a user page. Thanks to all info given.

Chinese pistols

Chinese pistols weigh 2 pounds and costs 190, so if someone wants to help me fix it, that'd be great. I'd do it myself but I'm special, sometimes the good kind, sometimes the bad... Greywyn Zod 01:32, 1 November 2008 (UTC) Greywyn Zod

No Problem. Done and done. - Five Dog 18:58, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

Armored Vault Suit

The stats for the Armored Vault Suit are... *drum roll*

Value-180 Weight-15 Health-100 DR (Damage Resistence)-12 Effects- Small Guns and Energy Weapons +5 each

Helping out box

It is worth including there pages that need clean-up also.--dotz 16:15, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Is there a list of pages for clean-up? I'd be more than happy to run through them while I work through some stubs. MinimumRage 16:50, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Stub qualifications

Is there a minimum length an article has to be before it's declared not a stub? Some entries are going to be very short--for instance, a lot of locations are simply eye candy and have little to nothing important about them, like the baseball field and various gas stations. There's also little to say about many food items and many NPCs.

I don't feel comfortable bandying about removing stub tags myself. MinimumRage 16:55, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Categories and Subcategories in Places

Is there a reason why we have those 23 subcategories in "Category:Fallout 3 places" when they are essentially empty?

For instance, it should be:

Category:Fallout 3 places

Which would contain this page

Megaton

and under that page

Subcategory: Megaton Places

Subcategory: Megaton People

As it stands now, if you navigate using the left hand navbar to "Places" you go here:

Category:Fallout 3 places

Which then has a list of 23 subcategories and 177 pages. Some of those subcategories are empty (and useless IMHO), like Scrapyard for example.

If there is something I'm missing, let me know. It's just something that I noticed and started to grate on me a bit.

IMHO, Megaton is not a category. It should be a "Place" under the Places Category. The Megaton Page would then contain a list of the places that are in Megaton. Craterside Supply, would also be a place. The Megaton Category serves no useful purpose except to clutter the wiki. Categories should be high level things like "Character Creation, Places, Items, People, Quests, Radio Stations, Bugs" then everything should drill down from there.

Logo Fix

No one reads the MediaWiki talk pages, so I thought I'd add a link here. Just a small suggestion to change the background behind the logo to transparent instead of white. MediaWiki_talk:Monaco.css --Odie5533 12:25, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

van buren: why forget the ideas?

Insert non-formatted text here now those of you who have read the van buren article will either find it confusing or cool(it was the first one for me) in any case on other fallout page there are forgotten ideas which i personally think would be good in a fallout 3 update or a possible fallout 4 the idea i like most was the born ghoul and getting belle pregnant, for me what fallout 3 lack is the relaitionship and intermissy factor, yes you can hire whores(i have never done this) but that is not what i talk of, i on about girlfriends and wifes who can get regnant please consider hacker or game desighners or anyone who can make it possible.

Timeline and Contents

I think the timeline should only be linked to from the main page and the box containing the contents be moved to the spot where the timeline was. --Odie5533 05:15, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

What would be the point of that? That Furry Bastard 09:13, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

Roleplaying Article?

I enjoy roleplaying however whenever I search for it in this wiki I always get a bunch of hits that I dont need , and occasionally I will get to a redirection to "falloutfanon.wiki" or something. Wouldn't it be easier to just create an article on this wiki?Bambobo 19:45, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Roleplaying articles are a total waste of bandwidth. From our experience at UESP, they are written by people who can't spell for people with no imagination and require a massive amount of effort to maintain: effort that could be better spent on improving other areas of the site. I certainly vote "no" to the creation of one on here. If there's a fanon wiki dedicated to wasting people's time, I'd say use that one. –RpehTCE 19:53, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
I agree with Rpeh here. Such articles should be placed on some kind of fanon wiki. It's fun, but it's more fun when you come up with the roleplaying yourself. -=KAG=-Discussion - the VaultNO 22:13, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Multiple Follower Glitch

I think I found a glitch to have 2 human followers that different than the one that is commonly known. I havent found any other case of this so I dont know if it was a one time thing or not. Anyway,I was able to recruit Jericho and Star Paladin Cross at the same time, along with Dogmeat. What happened was I used the early power armor training to recruit Cross at the very beggining of the game. Then when I got enough caps, I fired her. Then I did some stuff to lower my Karma so I could get Jericho. I recruited him then played through the main story all the way until the point where you get to the Citadel with the Rivet City scientists. When I was in the Citadel lab, I saw Cross so I went over and talked to her. I said that I wanted to regroup with her and she never said I had too many people in my party. Then I left and surely enough, Jericho, Star Paladin Cross and Dogmeat, all following me.

Mothership Zeta

I had recently added the three newly released screenshots for MZ and it seems newsworthy, although i feel like i'd make the article really crappy, if anyone knows how, please make the news article for the new screenshots. As everyone is dying to play this DLC.--Master of cheeZ 17:48, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

It would be kindof cool.

Im thinking that bethesda could partner up with a toy comp. and create costom action figures. For example: you send a letter to their compony or whatever and in the letter it would stsae the type of person or creature then pick its armor and weapon. Then it would stsate your address because it would be delivered to you. This is just an idea.

News

Alright, so how does one go about adding news to that box on the main page? It says somewhere to add it to the "News" section, but I don't know how to do that and I don't want to go screwing something up by trying to figure out through trial and error. I already have the article up on my blog. That's at this location. Mister President 01:34, October 17, 2009 (UTC)
