Very Disappointed![]

Very few endings, and not specific for town-to-town. Goekhan 23:24, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

I didn't really care about the ending, I mean sure, it was bad, but you can't keep playing after it. That sucks.Cubicle Ninja 23:29, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
Didn't they say there would be 200 endings?
Oh, Cubicle, yeah man that totally sucks. Now I'm staring at my PC, doing nothing. And, TO BE HONEST, it really doesn't worth playing again in my opinion. And that's why I feel this is not FO3, but something else, like Chronicles of Vault 101 just created for consoles and ported to PC, but definitely not FO3. Goekhan 18:33, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
Was going to play again as evil, but now I'm too let down to see the point! Should have read the wiki before playing the game. What a bummer!

You know what actually disappointed me the most about the ending? If you played a Neutral character like I did, you got NO unique ending. It couldn't have been that difficult to come up with some dialogue along the lines of "the Lone Wanderer walked a fine line between vice and honour...". Why didn't you just have good and evil karma if you were going to slap me in the face like that Bethesda? Coming Second 22:37, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

So Far Iv seen the ending and it wasn't the best but you should have expected more. Have you not read about the New Content Coming out that adds on AFTER The last quest. Honestly this makes me wonder if that was there intended ending after all or if it wasn't planned just to delay and make better content. But We will see. Dexodrill 20:00(PAC), Dec 1st 08.

I actually liked the ending. Not being able to play past it sucks but it's good to see a game that doesn't have a stupid completely happy ending. It would have sucked to have an ending where you would basically say "Oh I know! I'll just -insert far fetched idea here-!" And everyone would be live happily ever after and they'd all sing and dance.
However, because of the DLCs, I'm guessing that the download would create a new save (if the campaign had ended) where the character:
  • a)Wakes up in some hospital bed after months of intense anti-radiation treatment. (If they chose the "hero" ending)
  • b)Is contacted by someone while wondering the wastes some time after the waters had been purified. ("coward" ending)
  • c)Is not involved in the quest and the main character becomes someone else. (Though this is unlikely) --Clean Up 02:08, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
Myself, I don't care about being able to continue after the endgame, but the lack of ending narration for your side quests and visited locations (unlike previous Fallouts and the canceled Van Buren) was a major disappointment. Ausir 02:31, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

You've got to be kidding. Wearing tesla armor and popping one rad-x i had 85% radiation resistance. when i went in i was taking +3 rad/sec at most, but there's too much radiation in there to survive??? sweet. obviously this is a fantasy game, but if it was real you'd just have to tell lyons to open the damn door back up after taking minimal radiation.

This ending alone is enough proof that Bethesda is incapable of writing any kind of believable or even bearable story. Not only is the last mission mind-numbingly illogical (player/NPC dies only because the story says so, although it could be easily avoided), it's also the easiest dramatical twist out there, which the writers had to use simply due to their incompetence.--Puokkiw (talk) 08:12, May 6, 2014 (UTC)

Part 4[]

According to Elhoim on NMA, there is another possible ending which is if the player convinces President Eden to commit suicide. Here's a link to the post http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=578485#578485. I'm not sure if it's right or not which is why I'm posting it in discussion. UncannyGarlic 19:10, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure that it doesn't influence the narration, though. Ausir 19:53, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
Thats what I did, and you still get the FEV and Colonel Autumn has already defected. No difference.--Tisi 18:57, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
Confirmed. Playing as a rogue with 80+ base science/hacking, you befuddle Eden with the problem of being an infallible human creation without AI, give it orders when it has no direction and watch as it uses sentries to blast all of the opposition on your behalf. It then explodes while dumping you onto the wasteland - but no ending.

Side quest ending[]

There are a number of side quest endings, however only one of them appears for me, even though I did number of them based on the way the video would show. --Voidvector 00:44, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

I only got the Hamlin and Lincoln memorial (head of state) video, but i did nearly every side quests before entering. I suppose there is a maximum duration of this part of video, and they can't show everything you have done. I think head of state is one of the most important for the video, because it was the only one shown for this char, and the other one i made (yeah both good).Daguest 18:58, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Easter egg?[]

In all endings there is a frame with lone wanderer walking away with dogmeat. And one of the hero's models (the one that looks exactly like male vault dweller and tells the story of a guy, who wanted to save dogmeat at the military base no matter what) in cafe of broken dreams (F2 special encounter) mentions how he always wanted to see dogmeat in the ending. False Information[]

I just completed the game myself, having detonated Megaton. I still got the fourth video segment, so that is not correct. It should also be noted that I did not receive the fifth video segment, but that may be because I let Roy Phillips take over Tenpenny Tower.

War of the worlds?[]

"Humanity with all its flaws was deemed worthy of preservation." - Ending Dialogue

This is very likely a reference to The War of the Worlds ' many movie adaptations (sorry, can't find the specific quote at the moment) in which a similar line was said in the epilogue. it was either the 1950s movie or the 2005 movie, the line wasn't present in the original book or Jeff Wayne's adaptation.

If it wasn't in the book or musical don't cite it, War Of the worlds deserves to remain the book/musical not bastardized com truise

A common criticisim about fallout 3's endings[]

I was just watching a video on youtube with fallout 3's endings and from what I found in the comments it seems to get many criticisims for how bethesda advertised that the game would have more than 200 possible endings, but didn't meet that number, and I was thinking, if this can be confirmed, maby it should be noted in this article, but another point to bring up is that the 200 possible endings may have been refering to the different possible combinations of the segments to create an actual ending, any way I have not been able to varify that there are more or less than 200 possible endings, or that the criticisims are anywhere else, or that more than 200 endings were advertised. If anyone else thinks that this is worth looking further into I'd like to know. The video I was watching was titled "Fallout 3 All Endings" (This may not be completley acurate but it is somewere along that line)Superinsomniac 23:35, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

Scene 19[]

Scene 19 always made me cry it's just so sad seeing it because if you went into the purrifer it means you both died (without broken steel) which i always did --Please Welcome NCR President Andrew Parker 08:33, June 27, 2011 (UTC)

Filling The Void[]

Anyone ever think of making their own New Vegas style narration for every outcome of most every quest? I'm kinda thinking of doing that myself seeing as that Bethesda was too lazy to do that themselves. --Christengo (talk) 20:04, September 10, 2013 (UTC)

Comparison section?[]

Wondering why this is the only ending article on the entire wiki to have this unique section. I figured it best to simply delete it entirely because it's rather irrelevant to the article's overall subject matter, but Mounthail relayed to me in chat it might instead make a good article all on it's own, a page outlining and comparing the difference between all of the endings seen in all of the games.

I'm inclined to agree with that, but I also noticed that the ending articles (for FO3 and NV at least) seem to differ from each other quite drastically in format and I think that ought to be corrected by deciding on just one structuring format to be used by all ending articles so that it looks uniform and just, well, neater quite frankly.
