Anyone knows what his connection with Oasis really is? Mirar 08:25, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

It's possible that he has been exiled from Oasis, as an item called the Oasis Exile Hood exists in the game files. He wears a regular Oasis Druid Hood, yet isn't a part of the Treeminders... Nitpicker of the Wastes 22:17, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Missing Drifter[]

As stated in the Chapel page, the drifter was nowhere to be found when I got there due to the aforementioned bug. Is there any way to resurrect him so as to get the Rifle and the holotape? Chagrian 18:31, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Removed Note[]

Removed the following note as this is something Jericho just randomly says anyway and has nothing to do with the situation.

  • After killing the Drifter, Jericho will sometimes say "That looks like a good place for a sniper, look out".

Tactics moved from article[]

  • Use VATS to target his rifle with an accurate weapon. This will cause the rifle to be knocked out of his hands and make him fall off the planks and flee. You can recover the Reservist's Rifle he dropped and if you kill him later, you can get a second Reservist's Rifle.
  • On occasion, Drifter has been known to make his way down from his ledge while fighting off hostile NPC's. It is possible that he be killed by a Giant radscorpion or other hostiles in the area. If he doesn't seem to be in the church, search around the building in daytime, or perhaps have Dogmeat search for a nearby weapon.
  • The knockback effect from a Scoped Gauss rifle critical (that doesn't kill him) has been known to see him fly downwards towards the floor, only to reappear moments later perched on one of the churches roof beams, standing up.
  • The rafters where the Drifter walks on are un-reachable by the PC. If you have the Bloody Mess Perk, then getting one of the Drifters body parts to fall from the rafters won't be a problem.
  • It is also possible to ignore him at the Chapel and just walk further. You can accidently stumble upon him at the Roosevelt's Academy.
  • With frag grenades, it's possible to blow the Drifter out the church's window without killing him.
  • You can also "teleport" yourself using unarmed or melee weapons. Get as close as you can to the wooden planks while still being able to see The Drifter. Jump and while you are airborne, go into VATS and select him to attack. You will be teleported onto the wooden planks with the drifter and can swing away.

removed Notes[]

  • Drifter may be assigned by Tree Father Birch to make sure that no one gets to Oasis from Capital Wasteland. This will also explain the Sniper Rifle's name which was used for the purpose of reserving the Oasis from outside world.

Really, all speculation needs to go here on the discussion page before it gets added to the article. It must make sense and be agreed upon by the community--Kingclyde 17:59, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

RefId vs. BaseId[]

It appears, that c9424 is actually the RefId of the Drifter, not his BaseId. In my game "prid c942c" (RefId according to the page) gives a script error (unknown RefId), while "prid c9424" selects the Drifter as reference object. "player moveto c9424" works as well. To my understanding, the "prid" command is only possible with a RefId. Maybe someone with more knowledge can verify this and correct the page? That "someone" should add the correct BaseId as well. --Lje 21:03, October 26, 2009 (UTC)

They were just the wrong way round, corrected it. -- Porter21 (talk) 21:07, October 26, 2009 (UTC)

Dates[]

will everyone please stop putting in articles that the character can be found in 2277. the game can go to different years and even 3000.

This is the standard Vault formatting for articles as per the NPC project layout guidelines. It helps pinpoint a particular characters existence amongst the various timelines in the Fallout series.    phoenix     txt    data   15:34, March 6, 2010 (UTC)

Flying body after death...?[]

Has anyone else ever had a problem where he falls down and once he hits the floor of the church, goes flying off in a random direction? I used a sneak attack critical to kill him with a 10mm SMG and next thing I know I see his body go flying out of the church to the south and fall off in the distance. And by the time I found his body, the church wasn't even in sight anymore. :/ Great Mara 08:45, March 16, 2011 (UTC)

Happened to me with Arkansas, but I used a sniper myself. ~~JustSomeRandomGuy

Stacking Objects.[]

How come no one mentioned this? An easy way of getting it is to stack the small containers lying around, about 2 or 3 and you should be able to jump and loot his body. I wanted to loot his body after screwing up and figured this out.
