Another Bug[]

Platform: 360 and PC

Symptom: Boone constantly initiates a conversation with you, as if you clicked on him and picked "talk to" in the companion radial menu.

Steps to reproduce: Recruit boone. Be neutral with legion. Send Boone back to Novac (i.e. part with him). Do Legion quests until your reputation with them becomes "Accepted". Now, attempting to talk to Boone will trigger his "I don't like people who work for the legion" dialogue tree *before* he rejoins you. You can tell him "it won't happen again", and then have him join you. At this point, the symptom appears.

Workaround: BEFORE you trigger the issue (i.e. reload an older save), piss off the legion (e.g. killing legionnaires) until your reputation returns to neutral (or negative). This will allow you to re-recruit Boone without triggering the dialogue tree. (works with "Mixed" and "Villified" at least). 14:41, November 20, 2010 (UTC)

Lilly's Weapons?[]

I recently told Boone to retire to the Lucky 38 Suite, where Lilly, Rex, and ED-E already were. When I came back, Lilly was missing her Vertibird sword and gun, and now could only use her fists or weapons I give her. A quick look around led me to discover that Boone was holding both of them, and going into VATS show's they are Lilly's (Has her name on them.). Has this happened to anyone else and if so have you found a way to fix it? The game treats them like his Combat Knife and Hunting Rifle so they're not in his inventory. --70.57.70.39 08:17, October 28, 2010 (UTC)

Same thing happened to me, I haven't figured out how to revert it yet, so I've given Lily a super-sledge in the meantime, though she still continues to use her fists on and off
--216.105.190.199 06:45, November 8, 2010 (UTC)

You could try and console it in and give to Lily. DMZ Sniper 21:48, November 11, 2010 (UTC)

This issue isn't exclusive to Lilly. In my game, I had Veronica as a follower just to do her sidequest, then once it was finished I went to the Lucky 38 presidential suite, told her to leave and told Boone to come.

I then went directly to Yesman to trigger the final Hoover Dam quest, so it transported us there and to my horror Boone had Veronica's weapons as default! And he could only use defaults (10mm pistol and power fist) as I had given him an anti-materiel rifle and sniper rifle, both of which he refused to use. His conversation options, skin and voice were all Boone, but his weapon preferences and default weapons had switched to Veronica. Bad timing for that to happen on Hoover Dam >.<

Boone really does like stealing weapons...

Quest[]

Does anyone think that youll eventually find his wife in a quest?

No because he killed his wife

Not quite accurate Zarts 07:14, November 8, 2010 (UTC)
No, That's very accurate, Boone tells you he shoots his wife to prevent her from becoming a legion slave.62.150.91.20 14:30, December 3, 2010 (UTC)
(He does)

"There was nothing I could do. There were all of them and only me and my rifle..so I took the shot." He says something like that, the "I took the shot." is something I know for a fact he says. Your character then has the choice of saying "So you killed her?" (or something like that.) and Boone will reply "Yes." --VoltageHero 20:52, June 27, 2011 (UTC)

Wait a minute...[]

In the background, it says his wife was killed, but in interactions, it says he is investigating her kidnapping. Could someone fix this? (I'm not totally sure which one is right, so I can't). RadRuler 22:40, September 30, 2010 (UTC)

She was kidnapped and then killed. He investigates the kidnapping/murder in the game.Hexrei 21:11, October 22, 2010 (UTC)

Boone killed his wife to prevent her from becoming a slave.

Boone tells you he knows his wife is dead and won't go further on the topic unless you've progressed enough with him. Usually he'll tell you "he just knows". There were hundreds of legion guys buying and trading slaves and he couldn't take them all on. So he shot his wife to spare her. He investigates the kidnapping because he wants to know who sold his wife out to the legion to begin with. KaisarDragon 20:42, December 3, 2010 (UTC)

if you do the quest to upgrade him it states that he killed his wife in order to stop her from being a legion slave. this relates back to the quest "one for my baby" as you do not find who killed his wife you find a bill of sale. this states that his wife was sold to somebody explaining why boones wife was in that situation

Ranger Armor?![]

Dude, I think that the guy in the podcast 3 meant this armor (http://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/New_California_Ranger_armor) rather than the Reilly's Rangers Combat Armor... I'm changing it. --Oddii02 19:46, October 1, 2010 (UTC)

Where the hell does he go![]

I had to do a quest where he had to unfollow me, and he said he'd be at lucky 38's but that S.O.B. ain't there! Help please.... -.-

It takes a little while for him to show up, and when he does, he'll be in your suite. ~ HAZMAT82 04:24, October 22, 2010 (UTC)
He better be, or I'm gonna be pissed. I'm having the same problem with Lily. Malus X 03:02, November 1, 2010 (UTC)

im having the same problem but he has had about 20 game days to travel a distance that i did on foot to avoide the loading screen. if he stays gone im going to be really pissed off because the spotter perk is the best one that ive found so far.

I duplicated his Berret![]

I got him to join me and then took his berret, when he asked it back, I opened the inventory and saw he already had one! now I got one to wear myself!

Boone gives you another one

Yeah, Boone gives you one when you complete One for my Baby. Your game probably did that stacking glitch where it looks like you only have one until you put one in his inventory. 164.58.145.60 12:33, May 21, 2012 (UTC)MrNightingale

Does he die?[]

One time while messing around for a while he got ganged up on by a ton of Kings(Xbox 360 Version), and they took down all his health. He only went Unconcious and didn't die. So can he not die, or is there a thing with companions being able to get a few knockouts before dying? Haven't had any other companions recruited besides him. Samo502 07:03, October 22, 2010 (UTC)

fairly common info now that unless your in hardcore mode, companions just don't die, they get knocked unconscious and are usually out for the rest of the fight, but they wont die. ithinkimaddicted 11:06, October 22, 2010 (UTC)

Caesar's Legion[]

Even when set to passive and as a friendly member of the legion myself, boone seems to shoot them on site! was this a fluke? a bug? or a feature? (anyone who is allied with the legion better not take boone with them too often?) Namad 15:11, October 22, 2010 (UTC)

It's not a bug. Boone hates the Legion, as he is an ex-NCR member the Legion sold his wife into slavery which eventually resulted in her death. I haven't tested it but supposedly he will even shoot YOU if you show up in Legion armor before you recruit him.24.21.167.199 20:04, October 22, 2010 (UTC)

While Boone is "EX" NCR is affiliation is still linked to them, approaching CL with him as a companion is the equivalent of walking into a group of CL with NCR armor on, though this is less likely an affiliation with you and the NCR, and you and Boone. Boone attacks and your with him, so they attack you as well.CpT DiSNeYLaND 16:41, November 20, 2010 (UTC)

curiously, it doesn't seem that boone is actually hostile towards the legion. they're hostile towards the player if the player has boone in the party. i've been trying to do some anti-legion quests (such as "booted" and freeing the people in nelson) with boone in my party to get some history points, but without getting vilified by the legion. if i have legion armor equipped, boone will happily stand right next to a legion soldier, blinking at me. and the legion soldier will stand right next to (undisguised) boone. the legion turns hostile when i remove my disguise (regardless of reputation). 98.254.110.65 07:18, December 26, 2010 (UTC)
testing it out a bit, a legion mongrel sniffed me out and turned hostile. boone shot the mongrel, while standing next to a recruit who did not even react. i was even able to free the crucified hostages in nelson, with boone standing right there, in NCR ranger armor. what the hell. wasn't able to free the "booted" hostages in plain sight, without turning the legion hostile, though. still had to be sneaky. 98.254.110.65 07:56, December 26, 2010 (UTC)

Melee Boone[]

Hired him early in the game and he was relatively good with his Hunting Rifle (even though technically he's a sniper and sniper spotter). Later however he turned quite useless with it however he started engaging enemies in melee when they got a bit close. Gave him a Super Sledge from some super mutants and some t-45 power armor fro BoS and he became surprisingly really good with it. It's strange cause he says he's really weak in melee when you interact with him.

I gave him a Rebar Club to get it out of my inventory, and he used/preferred it to his Hunting Rifle. Did well with it, too. Thecrystalcrow

Maybe he just doesn't like getting messy, it takes a lot of Abraxo to get blood out of clothes! 71.105.140.83 20:40, October 23, 2010 (UTC)

It's hard to find cold water in the desert to soak all that blood out before it sets, too! Thecrystalcrow 20:43, October 23, 2010 (UTC)

I gave him Pushy and he does well with it, 1 Hit kill, sometimes 2...

Finding the same thing as you, dude. Actually he seems to do it a lot of weapons. I gave him a super sledge and he kept using it, even when I had him set to range, I gave him a dress cane and he used it even when set to range and having a super sledge. I just don't know. Zarts 07:17, November 8, 2010 (UTC)

Side Quest[]

On the Boone page it mentions a side quest for Boone, apart from the killing of the person who sold out his wife? I am still stuck with the grunt outfit so how do I upgrade, a part from killing a ranger and taking his armor (Darkmolerman 00:00, October 23, 2010 (UTC))

You have to have him travel with you for a while (doing things like killing caesar, also) he will eventually start talking to you about personal matters such as his wife.

Boone's Clothes[]

I can remove Boone's Merc Grunt Outfit and have him go around in his undergarments; because of that I can equip him with anything I want. Is this a bug or are you allowed to do that? and if so, why can't I do that with any of the other companions? (ex. remove Veronica's ugly hood, or Cass' hat?) Occam's Razor 01:24, October 23, 2010 (UTC)

well his stuff isn't unique so that may be the deciding factor, i just gave him power armor so he works pretty good in that. ithinkimaddicted 05:23, October 23, 2010 (UTC)

You can give all of your human and ghoul companions in F3 and FNV armor and weapons and they will equip and use them as long as the stats on the new stuff is better then their default gear. If they have something better already, why would they wear less-optimal stuff from you? Just remember if the weapon your giving requires ammunition they'll need appropriate ammo as well. 99.105.54.96 05:22, November 1, 2010 (UTC)

boone glitch[]

is there a way to fix the glitch where he keeps talking to you? i heard going to a legion encampment and saying you will help him kill the legion will solve the glitch.

-I had the same glitch, got him out of it by going to the Legion Raid Camp and killing some of them with him. he seems to be behaving himself now. Not sure if it was due to the Legion as enemies, or if any enemy will do...

-I had this glitch as well I did a bunch of legion quests without boone, after I lowered my reputation with the legion to merciless thug or lower he acted normally again. This may happen when the player's NCR reputation is low and then the player attempts to re-enlist boone.

Left me.[]

I told him to wait within the Forlorn Hope Camp whilst I was catching the medical supplies stealer. After I caught him I came out of the tent and Boone was gone. He's not at Novac, and I don't know where to look now. Any help?

Edit: He is still (technically) with me as I cannot recruit another humanoid companion and still have his perk, yet he is nowhere around.

He probably wandered off somehow. Just wait a while (I'm not sure how long exactly but it's several days im pretty sure) and you'll get a message saying that he has decided to go back to Novac, it will remove the perk, and then you can go back to Novac and pick him up again.Hexrei 18:45, October 23, 2010 (UTC)

2nd Edit: Yeah, after a good while I got the message. Cheers.

Heal crippled legs.[]

I guess this could apply to most companions, but I have him right now. How do I heal his crippled legs? Stimpaks, doctor's bags and sleeping don't work. It happened when approaching Nellis AFB, and now he's pretty slow, and can fall really far behind.

If you are not playing on hardcore you can knock him out and his health should reset. If you are playing on hardcore and want the achievement for completing the game without turning hardcore off you could try firing him and waiting a few days or maybe knocking him out with cattle prod/boxing gloves would work.216.250.10.130 04:58, October 25, 2010 (UTC)

on hardcore going into the companion menu and using the 'stimpack' option should fix him up.

Just shoot him once with a pistol and immediately use a stimpack, he will get healed Wertoret 15:12, November 8, 2010 (UTC)

To me in hardcore I just engaged some enemies in combat and he switched back to normal stance and animations

Boone skills?[]

Values for skills shown in this wiki may not be accurate.

While at first glance they could seem correct, if looking for them in the GECK, if you look a bit more thorough, there is script attached to him, which has following lines:

Begin OnLoad

; set up base stats

if (bLoadedOnce == 0)

SetActorValue guns 75;

SetActorValue energyweapons 60;

SetActorValue meleeweapons 55;

SetActorValue unarmed 40;

SetActorValue medicine 50;

SetActorValue sneak 100;

set bLoadedOnce to 1;

endif

End

So his default stats get overridden by these. P22 14:31, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

That makes more sense than what's currently there, to be honest. I was thinking that 54 is a bit low. This puts him more or less in line with what Veronica has for her (non-punching) skills. Zakrael 23:49, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

Why Boone doesn't always equip his Beret (for me, anyway)[]

I noticed that even when he has it, he won't always equip it. This has been indicated as a bug on the character page. However, in my case it turned out to be more of a logic mishap than a bug. Specifically, I had given him a Radiation Suit to carry. This is a single piece of apparel for both body and head. As soon as I took it away from him, his beret was back on instantly. It seems obvious now that the system is scanning his inventory, misidentifying the Radiation Suit as his "best" headgear, then putting on his armor, which displaces the Radiation Suit.

I have also noticed that he seems to equip Combat Armor and NCR Ranger Patrol Armor seemingly at random. They are both DT 15 but it seems strange that one wouldn't always win. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure I recall him doing the same thing with lesser NCR Armor with DT 12 vs. Combat Armor. At first I thought he was equipping the NCR armor in NCR-"owned" areas, but I have not verified this by any means.

He does it with hats too even like construction or fireman hats, every little while changes his style. Atleast dosent get boring :) Wasteland fashion show

Boone not following[]

Ever since I got Boone he hasn't been able to follow me. It says that he's following even when he just stays in place and it doesn't even matter if you change his status from "following" or "waiting", he does not move. And every time I recruit him, after the recruiting dialog is finished he directly starts a new conversation and says "What is it?". Anyone knows what's his problem?

Ivarsa15 20:24, October 28, 2010 (UTC)

I am having the same exact problem, I can't seem to get him to move, he is currently my companion but he just sits still. If I release him and tell him to go home it says he returned to Novac but he doesn't actually go. Very frustrating!

I'm having the same problem! Anyone got a fix?

I had the same problem with Cass. I think it's just a side effect of the rather buggy NPC scripting. With Cass it happened indoors all the time. I would go through a door and she would stay on the other side indefinitely. What worked for me was talking to her and getting to the "let's go" or similar dialog rather than using the companion wheel command to follow me.

To fix problem with Boone, you have to decrease your reputate with legion "Anonymous"

You can't decrease your fame. Fame and Infamy are two separate stats. Even having 0 fame and max infamy with legion this bug can occur. A lot of times it is because the companion wanted to talk to you about something, but you fast traveled away. A good way to get them back is telling them to wait, then using the vault 22 elevator. Then talk to them and have them follow you again. Good ol Vault 22 elevator. KaisarDragon 04:34, December 18, 2010 (UTC)

Sniping team[]

Boone and ED-E make a great sniping team, boone with the spotter perk and sniper rifle and ED-E with the perception bonus. Means you can pick your targets much more effectively. It's really good fun to go hunting legionaries in legion territory, the canyons and mountains are ideal for sniping and sneak attack criticals, with the silenced sniper rifle it is utter joy. The only drawback is occasionally boone will shoot someone you dont want him to, or give the game away. Solve it by having him stay back a bit.(86.185.214.25 01:54, October 29, 2010 (UTC))

This is already mentioned under the 'notes' section on the ED-E page. Maybe we should use that one's entry on the Boone page?

Try Boone and Rex team one spots other shows where the bodys are.

Boones Sidequest[]

Alright, I did all the history things, talked to him after each, and he still won't talk about bitter springs. Did I do something wrong or is this a glitch?

Actually, his grammar's the best I've seen in a long time on the Interweb.Soldier of the Wasteland 05:00, November 20, 2010 (UTC)

You have to kill legion soldiers a lot more before he's willing to warm up to you. I managed to take out Cotton Wood Cove and the Fort and he really enjoyed that more than when I first played through the game. [Daniel]

Boone's hunting rifle has gone missing.[]

I entered the gomorah with Boone and the game removed his gun. When I left the Gomorah and head back into the wastes boone didn't use his rifle back After a while I got cass to follow me instead. So im walking through the wastes and Cass randomly draws and begins using Boone's Rifle.

Has this happened to anyone else?

(Im playing on xbox 360)

--Piingu 17:34, November 1, 2010 (UTC)

This Has happened to me im still trying to figure it out my self. --178.116.205.9 15:56, July 1, 2011 (UTC)

Happened to me too. Boone is now using Veronica's kit while Veronica is using Boone's kit. Really annoying, but am trying to firgure out how to possibly fix this. --178.116.205.9 15:56, July 1, 2011 (UTC)

It happend to me to, but I just told him to go back to the Lucky 38, and I played the game for a few hours, then I went back to the Lucky 38, and he had the gun back! PS: Sorry for my terrible english

This also happened to me told Boone to wait in Lucky 38 presidential suite, while I went to Tops to kill Benny, went back to get Boone and his rifle is now in my inventory and I can't give it back. Playing on PS3 without updates.118.209.180.120 03:07, January 11, 2012 (UTC)

No Quest[]

I went to Novac for the first time in the evening looking for the Khans and Benny, I arrived in the evening, and the quest marker didn't trip. so looking for Manny Vargas and found Boone instead. He immediately went into mission completion dialogue and it assumed that I finished the side quest, gave me the quest completion notice, and cleared him as a companion. 71.160.221.11 06:02, November 2, 2010 (UTC)

I had the same problem, but instead, he apparently assassinated Manny Vargas and thinks I told him to (I haven't ever initiated dialog with Boone before, although I did talk to Manny ). I tried resetting the quest/changing status etc but nothing seems to work. I am confuse. 174.89.233.41 16:08, December 2, 2010 (UTC)

I think this may have to do with the game rendering anyone from that town dead, by yours, Boone's, or the wastes' hand, as having been killed for the quest. In other words, if a Golden Gecko walked in from Clarks Field and killed Manny, the game would assume he was the one you told Boone to kill. However, this is all speculation. 164.58.145.60 12:38, May 21, 2012 (UTC)MrNightingale

Credit mistake[]

The credits in the game mark James Marsden down as Boone.

<C:255,182,066,255>Craig Boone<Y:-15> <C:255,235,198,255>James Marsden<Y:-6>

According to wiki and the rest of the vault wiki, this is wrong. It's apparently Jason Marsden, who - according to the vault wiki - has done Fallout VO before, so it'd make more sense. Anyone care to look into this? I'm gonna change the link back to Jason Marsden. -EllEzDee 07:48, November 2, 2010 (UTC)

The credits, game release information, and Marsden's own IMDB states James Marsden as the voice of Boone, not to mention James's appearance at the FO3 launch party insinuates he's a fan of the series (Similar to the hiring of Matthew Perry, a huge fan of FO3, as Benny). Jason Marsden's IMDB doesn't list him working on a Fallout title since 2001's Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel. The only evidence I've seen that states Jason does the voice of Boone are Fallout Wiki and Wikipedia, both of which are freely editable by anyone.

Furthermore, Obsidian went to the trouble of hiring contemporary Hollywood actors to voice the rest of the companions in New Vegas for more commercial appeal, so I don't see why they wouldn't cast one for Boone as well. The New Vegas cast was announced several months ago without any corrections from Obsidian or either Marsden publicly, and I don't think everyone involved would ignore a mistake like that completely. I agree Boone's voice is similar to that of the style of Horus's and Myron's, but I don't see why James couldn't do a similar raspy voice. It could go either way really, but I would like to see some substantial proof stating Jason is the voice of Boone, besides the gut-feeling of fans. -Vorpal raddish 15:39, November 5, 2010 (UTC)

Cheers for looking into it. Just to clarify on your statement though ("need to see some substantial proof[...]besides the gut-feeling of fans"), it's just something i've come across. I'm not saying it's either actor, i changed it back to Jason because it made more sense to me, seeing as he's done FO voice acting before. I just figured it was an oversight by the credit writing slaves, but in hindsight it does seem a little stupid that there's been no announcement/patch or whatever to "fix" this credit "bug". -EllEzDee 16:15, November 5, 2010 (UTC)

Based on this talk page section I've changed the name back to James, as that's what seems to be accurate. I've also protected the page to prevent anonymous users from changing it back to Jason. --Kris User Hola 16:22, November 5, 2010 (UTC)
Bethesda Producer Jason Bergman confirmed that Jason Marsden did the VO for Boone on the Bethesda forums: Source. Westridge 04:38, November 6, 2010 (UTC)
Awesome, that's exactly the type of proof I was looking for. Great find, I scoured the interwebz for a shred of evidence to solidify this and couldn't find a thing. How could they make such a bizarre mistake like that, lol? I have some free time and a little trivia information about the two Marsdens so I'll clean up these two entries. Thanks again. -Vorpal raddish 09:06, November 6, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, glad that's cleared up. Maybe they'll fix the credits in a patch or something, although I doubt it.--Westridge 10:41, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

Ok, turns out it really IS Jason, not James. Here's irrefutable proof courtesy of Ausir. --Kris User Hola 10:00, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

No Voice[]

Had anyone had this problem where Boone has NO spoken line of dialogue. I could access them and his quest quite fine, but for some reason his character model never speaks (mouth not moving) yet i could see the spoken text come like normal.

Everybody and everything else seems to work fine for me.

This may nor may not be related but i decided to do his recruitment quest once, and did everything with the right culprit and such. He didnt give me the beret, or was that suppose to be like this?

This exact problem has happened to me too, though I haven't bothered going further in his quest because of it. Anybody got any tips on fixing it? :( -Silphage 14:30, November 7, 2010 (UTC)
I figured it out! It was a mod called "All companions essential", which accidently changed Boone's voice type to something incorrect. Just remove that mod, problem solved. -Silphage 06:04, November 8, 2010 (UTC)

Boone's name[]

I'm pretty sure but just guessing that boone got his name from a military camouflage. "During the Vietnam War, U.S. troops were issued a "boonie suit" in a single dull green for blending into the jungle". it sounds like what the ncr troop wear. They just got rid of the i to sound less gay . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_camouflage

Well quite a few special forces soldiers wear boonie hats even outside of Vietnam. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boonie_hat

Silenced Sniper Rifle and Boone.[]

I gave Boone sniper rifle with "silencer". After he equipped it i noticed the silencer was gone from the 3D model on his back. Even in firing position silencer was gone. More - when Boone was firing, the sound was of normal, unmodified rifle (which of course was giving our position away immediately). On his equipment list - rifle is described properly (carbon parts and silencer visible). Anyone has the same problem (PC)?

I just noticed something strange. Finished Boone's quest after which he was given the 1st Recon survival armor. Later I gave him T51b power armor with helmet (non-factioned) and he happily hopped in it. However when I target him it shows he only has 17DT (as without power armor). I tried to give Boone legion armor and forgot he can't carry that. He dropped it immediatly, but somehow his beret and sunglasses were unequipped after that. They were still in his inventory but he just wouldn't equip them anymore whatever I tried. I had to reload a previous save to fix this. This is even more odd because he did not have a radiation suit on him and the legion armor did not include a head piece. Anyone else had this before? BlitzKrieg-BoB 22:16, November 10, 2010 (UTC)

Bug making Boone Overpowered[]

In response to so many people complaining on the Bethsoft forums about Boone being ridiculously overpowered a Bethesda employee jumped on an said this was due to a bug that was making him have 100 in his tagged skills no matter when the PC took him as a companion. They said this would be fixed in a patch. Does anyone know if this has been done yet and is it worth mentioning?

Boone's missing[]

I parted ways with Boone so that I could take Cass along, but now I can't find him. When I said I was sure about letting him go, I got a message saying he was back in Novac. Several days later, I wanted him back, but now I can't find him in Novac. He's not in his room, the dinosaur, the player's hotel room or in any other place in Novac that I've looked. I've also tried the console commands placeatreticle and player.placeleveledactoratme. Both commands didn't give an error message, but they don't seem to spawn Boone anywhere close. I've also waited more days to say if he would turn up eventually, but I've yet to see him. Does he return to an other place when left behind?

Look in vault 22. Use the elevator to go to level 3. In both of the times that I have lost Boone, he consistently shows up there, and should initiate dialogue with you as soon as you get of of the elevator.--Merchant of Death 00:20, November 22, 2010 (UTC)

Getting Boone to rejoin[]

I had Boone as a companion before telling him to leave because I wanted to do a few legion missions. Once I got back he confronted me (I expected this) and IIRC I told him I was infiltrating the legion and that I wouldn't compromise my mission. Apparently this was a poor choice of words because now all he'll say to me is something like "I'm disgusted with you." I spent some time killing legionnaries until my Legion rep was vilified but I still can't initiate dialog with him. Anyone know how to get him to rejoin? I'm on PC so mods are an option, I just can't find any that do what I want. 69.54.60.34 18:51, November 12, 2010 (UTC)

Get some NCR ranger gear. it will make you appear neutral to Boone and he will then demand you swear to not work for the Legion again but so long as you don't let Boone see you do anything "evil" he will follow you.

Boone being able to wear power armor. FIXED[]

In the wiki it says the only faction armor Boone can wear is "NCR armor and, surprisingly, power armor". Boone CANNOT wear BROTHERHOOD Power Armor, the normal types of power armor are NOT faction affiliated, thus this statement is incorrect.

Why is it locked to editing? Irritating.

uhhh...if all it says is and surprisingly power armor, than that is not an incorrect statement, generic power armor is readily available and can be used by boone or anyone else you so choose.- Toolazytomakeaaccount 05:56, November 17, 2010 (UTC)

It's incorrect because it's NOT surprising that he can wear generic or Remnants power armor, and because he cannot wear BoS faction power armor. --Kris User Hola 08:54, November 17, 2010 (UTC)
Exactly, it said that he can wear faction powe armor, yet he can't. It is only the non-faction power armor he can wear, if you give him Brotherhood power armor he throws it at your feet in disgust! PS It has been fixed now.
Of course it is, I fixed it yesterday. --Kris User Hola 19:16, November 17, 2010 (UTC)

Boone can wear the T-45d Power Armor (full set) you receive from the Elder after joining the BoS. For some reason it is not considered faction armor, and all humanoid companions can wear it. He will not however wear the armor you find on the 3 Paladins, as this is considered the "official" faction armor. His added strength from the armor makes him more prone to pickup and use melee weapons like "Oh, Baby."

There is no such thing as 41d power armor. There's T-51b power armor, T-45d power armor, and several other variants named differently. There's versions of the T-51b and T-45d that have no faction attached, and there's an unpowered version of T-45d that Boone can wear due to it having the NCR faction attached. Not sure if there's a BoS T-45d faction armor or not, but there is for the T-51b. The non-faction T-51b looks just like the T-51b (non-winterized) from Fallout 3. I found it once at the BoS quartermaster. --Kris User Hola 23:18, November 22, 2010 (UTC)

You are correct, I misspoke. -- fixed (T-45d). I have had Boone wear the armor you receive from the Elder, as well as buying the armor from their armory in the BoS bunker. Again T-51b armor WILL NOT work. All humanoid companions will wear the T-45d armor as long as you become a member of the BoS.

You don't actually have to be a member of the BoS or even have Power Armor Training in order for Boone to wear it. I gave him some T-45d Power Armor and he wore it even though I hadn't even completed Still In The Dark yet. EggtasticTaco (talk) 19:43, June 13, 2013 (UTC)
Again, there's non-faction-specific T-51b that looks identical to the T-51b from Fallout 3 - any companion can wear that. It's the Brotherhood T-51b that can only be worn by Veronica. --Kris User Hola 02:13, November 23, 2010 (UTC)

waiting time[]

If i tell Boone to wait somewhere (somewhere in a building for example) how long will he wait there until he returns to Novac? --91.177.187.235 11:53, November 17, 2010 (UTC)

I don't think he will return to Novac! My answer would be (without bug interference) forever! I lost him somwhere in the wasteland and after 3 side quests he returned!

Custom Glasses[]

I gave Boone a pair of Authority Glasses, and realized he has a custom pair. They're darker then on other characters and have an almost tear drop shape. I've given the same glasses to every other human companion, and none of them have the same glasses model. Fun little fact, with story related implications; also, he looks badass with said custom glasses.

For the tear drop shape - it's dependent on the facial structure of the character wearing it. I once made a character that resembled me (given I have limited patience in the character creation screen), and the glasses assumed a very severe shape - imagine downward triangle with a slightly rounded rectangle at the base, as well as a rounded tip. Face shape plays a huge part in how Authority glasses stick to your character's face. It's a shame, considering hardly anything else in the game is as reliant on your character's aesthetics. Maybe I'll add an image later, but at the moment I'm reinstalling NV after my saves stopped registering and I lost an character halfway through dead money (I do one save at the start of a character, then just ride a second save for the rest of the game). --222.154.232.126 01:19, November 13, 2015 (UTC)

Boone Bug - someone please add to the bug page[]

After exiting Vault 34 (Boone left outside), all his weapons disappear! Hardcore mode, neutral karma, level 12! I am unable to find his scoped rifle and the pistol!

This also happened to me too. But I only noticed when we entered vault 22 he lost a plasma rifle i had given him & maybe another weapon. unfair! 220.233.17.105 13:02, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

This happened to me too. At vault 22, except i lost 10+ unique weapons. Because I use him to hold weapons, and ed-e for armor.

speech glitch[]

i may have misspelled it but i don't know if its a glitch, but whenever i shoot an enemy out of his range of view he says let me aim for you next time, when somebody snipes the head off of a deathclaw from max range with an anti material rifle you can't do much better, so is this a glitch or just his field of vision being limited so it fools him? Toolazytomakeaaccount 06:56, November 25, 2010 (UTC) It's just a result of your companion's Perception. This has happened to me with pretty much all companions, especially when I make miraculous shots with my suppressed Sniper Rifle. TJbrena 20:23, December 12, 2010 (UTC)

Sniper Rifle[]

I gave Boone a sniper rifle at nearly full repair earlier. Now I'm at wolfhorn ranch which is where I keep eveything. I was going to take the sniper rifle from Boone but it wasn't in his inventory and his hunting rifle was on his back. I went outside and killed Boone and when I searched him I found the sniper rifle at 0 condition. How?? I only gave it to him a while ago! Also, when I'm in his inventory normally the sniper rifle is not in the list. How do I get it back? Mp5shooter 22:14, November 28, 2010 (UTC)

allys are stupid with guns you give them, they degrade rapidly, i only gave boone 100 rounds and gobi campaign sniper rifle, and he still managed to crap its condition up, the only thing my allys get from me now is armor. Toolazytomakeaaccount 22:19, November 28, 2010 (UTC)

This must be what's happening to me. I keep giving Boone better rifles, only to discover a short while later that he's lost them (or he's pawning them, the sneaky SOB). I'll try monitoring the item's repair and see. Bheimbaugh (talk) 01:22, March 15, 2014 (UTC)

Boone + Incinerator + Ant = Game Crash[]

I think I have discovered a strange bug with Boone. I had him with me when I did the bounty hunter quest to kill Cook Cook. After taking care of Cook Cook, I made Boone carry the Flamer, Incinerator and flamer fuel.

Instead of going straight back to Camp McCarran to collect the bounty, I explored the surrounding area. I found and entered the Basincreek Building, which had ants and radroaches in it, but as soon as I killed an ant, the game crashed. It did it only with the ants, not the radroaches. I left Boone outside and cleared the building out. I then found and entered the Allied Technologies Offices building to the East. There were two giant ants greeting me when I entered, and It would crash as soon as I entered the building with Boone following. Again I made him wait outside while I went in and cleared it out.

Just to the south of the Allied Technologies Offices building is the And Mound, a barn with a couple of giant ants outside of it. If I shot one of them, the game crashed. I didn't even have to kill them, it did it if I just shot them. I know I killed some ants near the Helios power station earlier while Boone was following, so I fast traveled to that area. Once again, I shoot an ant, the game crashed. I found and loaded a save game from earlier in my play right when I got to Helios. I walked North to where the ants were and killed them fine, no crash.

I figured it had to be something in Boone's inventory that he was trying to use that he didn't have back then. He currently has a lever action shotgun, flamer and incinerator, and ammo for them. I removed one, shot an ant and repeated until it didn't crash. When I removed the incinerator the game quit crashing. This only happens when I shoot or kill an ant. I killed several fiends and radroaches after putting the incinerator in his inventory.

Further testing revealed weirder results. If I leave everything in Boone's inventory and tell him to use melee weapons, then shoot an ant, he would equip the incinerator and kill the ants, no crash. If I remove all weapons except the incinerator, he equips his hunting rifle and uses it instead, and the game does not crash after shooting an ant. It only seems to do it if he has another weapon and the incinerator.

He prefers to use the lever action shot gun. I gave it to him because early in the game I was breaking down all shotgun ammo I found and making 20 gauge slugs. After I got a 12 gauge hunting shotgun I discovered I couldn't break down the 20 gauge slugs to make 12 gauge slugs. Rather than let them go to waste, I gave them to Boone. I'm wondering if this has something to do with it. The game may be crashing because has too much to choose from, but why it only does it with ants is strange.

This is on PC version 1.2.0.285. --Jimnms 21:05, December 4, 2010 (UTC)

MY FAVORITE COMPANION!!!![]

Hes my favorite choice! Why? The last thing you Never see.

Would a "good" character recruit him? (roleplaying)[]

i mean if you recruit him as a companion you would leave novac only one sniper to watch out for slavers/legion.

Yeah but... he's really cool.

I guess if your really roleplaying you could use him to push the legion out of Nelson, thus eliminating their threat to Novac. --BOSPalidan 13:03, January 30, 2011 (UTC)

Minor error on the "Endings" section[]

This ending should read: "If the NCR holds the Dam and he looks for a place where he can be of some use, Boone finds himself re-enlisting with his old unit. Though his regrets remain in his thoughts, they coalesce into a purpose, and Boone embraces it. He spends his leave time hunting down slavers in the desert, his First Recon beret the last thing they never see." Not ever see.

Small detail, but it should be fixed and that section is locked from editing

Unknown Outfit?[]

Ok, I just bought the collector's edition guide from gamestop the other day (yay 50% off all guides) and I noticed a concept art of boone wearing his 1st recon survival armor and another wearing an unknown version of the ncr trooper armor. The armor was black, had a red scarf instead of tan, and kneepads. I also noticed this wasnt the first time ive seen this armor, in the screenshot for the light machine gun as well as for the 12.7 smg they are wearing this unknown armor. Does anyone know what it is? Aleksandr the Great 21:38, December 30, 2010 (UTC)

An early version of the trooper armor. Nitty Tok. 21:43, December 30, 2010 (UTC)

Uhh..... what makes you think its an early version of the trooper armor? It was actually implemented in-game (the screenshots I mentioned above) and it seems to be a more reinforced version. I also noticed that the pants are actually the "merc grunt" model rather than the standard trooper armor (just like boone's 1st recon outfits from his companion quest). Aleksandr the Great 05:28, December 31, 2010 (UTC) Nevermind, it was just a darker color version of the 1st recon assault armor, but isnt boone the only one that can wear it? Missing[]

I told Boone to return to the lucky 38 and he left from Raul's shack running toward Vegas so I went on my way and a couple days later I went to get him and he was gone so I went to Novac and he wasn't there either i waited many game days and Ive searched the wasteland and still cant find him. Help please.

He probably got caught in a cell. Simply start at Raul's shack and head directly to The Lucky 38 on foot. KaisarDragon 07:29, December 31, 2010 (UTC)

I did that he's nowhere to be seen.

My problem with Boone missing is slightly different. I dismissed him beneath Ranger station Echo, north of Cottonwood Cove. This was before I had access to the Lucky 38, so he should have gone to Novac. However, he is nowhere to be found. I don't think I've received a notice that he's died, but then again maybe I wouldn't, since he isn't my current companion.

I did the elevator at Vault 22, but I think that only works with current companions.

I'm on hardcore mode.

It's been weeks in in-game time, but still no sign of him at Novac, and since I've gotten the Presidential Suite, I've looked there and he's not there either. 24.86.226.9 11:39, April 21, 2011 (UTC)

Stupid bug[]

in the bugs section it says something about NPCs commenting about the 1st recon stuff even when he wears totally different armor, THATS NOT A BUG, IS STUPIDLY OBVIOUSLY THEY GONNA DO IT BECAUSE THEIR SCRIPTED TO DO SO, remove...NAO.

Boone is stalking me! Asks me "Is it time, yet?"[]

I'm hoping someone can help me. A few weeks ago, I dismissed Boone for another companion, no problem. However, after that, a random bug/feature would occur.

I would fast travel to a location and, when I get there, Boone would already be waiting. He would say "Is it time, yet?". Each time I clicked "No" and he would leave. This happened three or four times. Since then I've been unable to find him anyway on the map (Novac, Lucky 38, Vault 22 etc.)

Any ideas as to why he was stalking me?

The game thinks you're weird for dismissing him, so do i...

I've had the same thing happen, though he only came to me once and I haven't seen him since. If someone finds a solution to this, I'd be grateful to them.

Happened to me. He appeared to me at Nipton, said no then went on. Went back to Lucky 38 and he wasn't there. He was waiting at Nipton. I said to travel together and it triggered a side mission

When this happened to me, it began right after we killed Caesar together and he commented on the kill, Bitter Springs. I dismissed him and took Veronica to do Oh My Papa, but when I quick traveled there Boone accosted me like you guys described above. What I did was dismiss Veronica and accept Boone as a companion then let him tell me about wanting to go back to Bitter Springs. Then I said yes, dismissed him and completed my dealings with the Khans, after which I went back to Novac and re-enlisted him as my companion. (Sorry to ditch you, Ronnie!) So, what I'm saying is that I think this is just Boone trying to activate his personal quest. -HelenaHanbazkt

Name reference?[]

His first name, Craig, might, might, MMIIGGGHHHTTT be a reference to the sniper who has the longest recorded sniper kill, Craig Harrison. Knowing Wikia (especially Fallout) editors I'm going to get flamed as fuck, but well, had to make the try. --186.57.165.13 09:59, January 5, 2011 (UTC)

Third-party link to unofficial patch[]

I've included a link to an unofficial patch which fixes Boone's combat and head-tracking issues caused by patch 1.2.0.31x. I'd like to take a moment here to explain why I feel this is appropriate when in 99% of other cases linking to these types of "bugfix" mods is discouraged.

The current bug is severe enough that it is considered game-breaking; currently Boone is useless due to his inability to keep a weapon out for longer than 5 seconds, not to mention additional issues caused by the script forcing his AI to re-evaluate its packages so frequently (lag, mostly). Furthermore the fix for this bug is ridiculously simple (the addition of to semi-colons to a single script), and is in no way potentially dangerous. Finally, the site it is hosted on is a highly trusted Fallout resource (Nexus) which we can rely on to ensure anything hosted on its servers is both safe and what it claims to be.

Now I don't want this to set some kind of wide-sweeping precedent, assuming it's allowed. This should be a very limited exception allowed only because the bug is so severe. Otherwise we'll be buried in external links, and that's not what this Wiki needs. -- Yukichigai 05:27, January 6, 2011 (UTC)

Two Things[]

1. Post-patch, is he still overpowered? 2. When you have to *Spoilers* take him to his sniping spot during his companion quest (where the massacre occured) I select something like 'Sure we'll stay tonight'. Then the screen fades to black. When it returns, it says 'Quest Failed', meaning I can't get him to equip his unique armour. Anyone able to help? (This is after restarting the console 3 times) AR700SAW 18:56, January 6, 2011 (UTC)

This may be related to the bugfix I was talking about linking to in the above post, actually. Because his AI packages get re-evaluated so frequently it causes a LOT of issues. I'm not aware of that being one specifically, but it would fit. -- Yukichigai 00:22, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

Possible glitch

When I fast-travelled from Nellis AFB to Goodsprings, I noticed Boone had disappeared, when I located his map marker it said he was in the strip, I went there and it said he was in the Lucky 38, after looking around and coming up short, I did a Google search and found out he waits for you at the penthouse suites, sure enough he was right there.

I think it's possible that when fast travelling from and to the said locations, he returns to the Penthouse Suites... Only happened to me once though, just now, in fact. --User:PJBC 10:55, January 15, 2011 (UTC)

Help with bug[]

I didn't want him shooting up the legion camp, so I told him to go back to Novac. Now I can't find him. He's never in his room or in the dino head, and I can't get any other companions now.

Quote Reference?[]

The phrase "I've... been here before." is not iconic nor unique to Die Hard 2. It's a very common phrase and the only reason Boone is saying it like that is because it is a very sensitive place for him. There is no significant link to Die Hard 2 and is most likely just a coincidence that it is said in the movie. GSix 05:42, January 20, 2011 (UTC)

Boone hates Oscar Valesco...

During the "Climb ev'ry Mountain" quest boone is 100% hostile to Valesco at all times and it does give a little hit to Great Kahns rep... He will even kill Oscar if he was dealt with peacefully if found on his way back to Red Rock Canyon... not sure if Boone will try to kill him if he ever gets home.... he seems to get stuck in the mountains around Bitter Springs...i think this should be added to the notes part of the main page...

I want him now :([]

I didn't recruit Boone the first time around. Is there any way I can get him later on? If so, where? Thanks.

tahnkyu

He should be at Novac, either in the dinosaurs mouth or wondering about the town. If you sent him to the Lucky 38, then he'll be in the Presidential Suite. AR700SAW 17:39, January 30, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, i'll make sure to try that.

Because of the latest patch, (the one before the patch enabling trophies), does Boone's edit in his script make him somewhat useless?

Stole My Gobi[]

I gave Boone my Gobi Campaign Scout Rifle and he was doing pretty good with it until I came out of Fire Root Cavern and found the Fat Man. I then went to Mojave Outpost to repair it and noticed Boone didn't have my Gobi. He had just had it when we fought the golden geckos outside the cave. So yeah??? Help please.

If a Gecko hitted the weapon, is likely he drop it on the ground. You have to return to the location and do a sweep. This happens with any companions, so it's wise to keep and eye on them from time to time, specially after engaging melee oriented enemies. Brfritos 20:14, March 10, 2011 (UTC)

Boone not using AP ammo (or other special ammo)?[]

Just finished my 1st playout, (PCPC - goodish char/independent NV) and took Boone/EDE for the final fights.. while for most of the game I really didn't care what ammo Boone was using, since he's such a good companion it didn't matter that much, but in the last fights, as we go vs heavier/veteran Legion with higher DT protections, Boone was complaining a lot about 'cant push through', 'need a bigger caliber' etc.. I realized that, as much as I tried, he was NOT using AP ammo: either .308, 5mm, 5.56 .. none of them, even after specifically reloading his guns with AP on my own and giving them back to him, and removing the standard ammo from him.. he would simply switch down to another gun.. even down to his original rifle or -eek- machete; I had him usually packed with Assault carbine, modded Sniper rifle, modded .44 magnum, and non-faction T51b Armor, everything repaired to 100%; I even gave him my own Anti-materiel rifle and some .50 AP/Inc without success. Also, at the end of the fight, he -always- lost the Assault carbine and occasionally the sniper rifle (if they were shot out of his hand, I did look for them around and couldn't find them). So, this meant he became kind of useless and died a couple of times/needed a few save-loads in order to finish with him alive. I've read some of the boards, etc about the AI weapon selection DPS routines, changes over distance etc, but didn't quite find anything specifically related to this.. Has anybody experienced something similar? 69.200.227.55 14:25, March 12, 2011 (UTC)

I don't know about custom rifle rounds, but I had him use custom 20 gauge slugs. I stopped playing after the last patch, but at the time Boone was my companion. Earlier in the game when I had gotten the lever action shotgun, I was breaking down all 20 and 12 gauge shells down to make 20 gauge slugs. Later when I got a 12 gauge shot gun I realized I couldn't break down the special ammo, so rather than let it go to waste I gave Boone the lever shotgun and my stock of 20ga slugs. He switched to the shotgun and preferred it over his rifle and used the slugs without complaining. --jimnms 22:23, March 12, 2011 (UTC)

Question[]

What can my legion reputation get to before Boone leaves for good? Is there a way to delay his leaving (so that I can lower my reputation)?

Just tell him to wait for you at the Lucky 38, lower your Legion reputation, and then go back and recruit him. Best regards, Kastera talk 21:00, March 21, 2011 (UTC)

Yet another Boone glitch(novak)[]

I thought I would try something out and reverse pickpocket a combat helmet onto his person before I initially talked to him, (in hope that he would just equip the combat helmet instead of his beret when he asked for it back) however when I try to initiate dialogue after the reverse pickpocket he says to talk to him when he is in the Dino's mouth after 9pm.

I am on xbox360, and the game time was 12:04. I tried re-loading the game, going out the door and going back in, nothing seems to work other than loading a previous game save...

We have his gun![]

A while ago, my brother recruited Boone as his 1st companion. All of a sudden, he started to use his fists. We later found out that my brother has "Boone Scoped Hunting Rifle."This is completely point less because my brother can hold it, but can't fire because the ammo is called MFA. What?! So, we tried to drop the gun, hoping he would pick it up but he doesn't.

Why don't you give it to him instead? --jimnms 02:53, May 11, 2011 (UTC)
We can't. We tried to, but when you open his inventory it doesn't show up. I found out it's that unfixable glitch, so my brother restarted his file. --User:EliteRanger

My eyes hurt bad.[]

I recently traded Veronica with Boone, but when I did, my screen just turned blue, light blue. I could still see eveything, but just in blue. It looked awesome. Can anyone explain why this happened. I was in my Lucky 38 room, wearing power armor, all of my companions were there.

Maybe you had accidently taken cateye? it turns everything blue. I love it.

No, I never use that stuff. Same thing happened on Black Mountain when some Nightkin started attaking me.--User:Elite Ranger

This might be a bit late, but followers in the Lucky 38 will drink any Nuka Cola Quartz you have stored, which applies the low-light vision to you, for some reason. Unique Dialog at Nelson[]

Great Khan Longhouse[]

I go in there with Boone, hoping to be peaceful with the khans, he just starts shooting up the place. As far as i'm aware the NCR aren't openly hostile to Khans.

Boone has had a certain "history" with the Great Khans, and he despises them, like the Legion.

It's my observation that the Khans and NCR are active enemies and will shoot one another on site, which is why it's such a pain in the ass to get a truce drawn up between them in "For The Republic 2."

Boone, Headshot?[]

Despite being a fan favorite, (and spawning the memé "Boone, Headshot!") Boone is the least charismatic follower with a whopping Charisma Skill of 1.

Is the first half of that sentence necessary at all? Sounds like a horrible forced meme. --99.179.127.9 20:44, June 13, 2011 (UTC)

I don't think the whole line is needed since his SPECIAL stats are listed in the info box. I've never heard of a "Boone Headshot." meme, just the original "BOOM Headshot!" If there is one, I can't find it, I searched for it, and only come up with YouTube videos of Boone shooting Jeannie in the head, and photo head shots of people named Boone. Anyone know of how to get Boone back after I dismissed him in Camp Golf, as he is not in Camp Golf any more, and nor is he in the 38. Anyone have any idea of where he maybe, or a way to get him back (same happened to ED-E as well) --LBraden 00:00, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

Unless you told him to go to the Lucky 38, he will go back to Novac where you first met him and ED-E will return to Primm. If you are sure you told him to go to the Lucky 38, he may have become stuck along the way. You can use console commands to locate him, or if you're on a console the only way is to go back to where you dismissed him and head direct to New Vegas and hope to find him along the way. --jimnms 03:11, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

My boone is addicted to dress canes.[]

I dunno why... but ever since I did the beyond the beef quest and blew up the guys who attacked me when I was in the in investigators room, Boone picked up a dress cane, and has pretty much never stopped using it. I set him to ranged with a sniper rifle, and he sees a cazador and rushes it with his trusty dress cane. Since he's in hardcore mode, of course he get's poisoned and dies... If I give him something stronger, he prefers the dress cane. If I try to remove the dress cane, he finds something around him and uses that instead or gives me a funny look. on a unrelated topic, how do you get boone to the fort to kill caesar for his history points if he's hostile to all legion? (so I'm assuming the boat guy too.) 76.198.70.129 02:14, June 30, 2011 (UTC)

Just interact with the raft near the boat guy.

All up in my face[]

I like to use Boone and ED-E as a sniper team, but for me Boone's pathfinding often makes it difficult. Basically, for some reason Boone likes to begin fire-fights clipping directly on to me, causing every shot I fire to hit his gun. It doesn't matter for his hunting rifle, but I like to give him the Anti-materiel rifle or the YCS/186. One will break 5 seconds into a fight and Boone will drop it, forcing me to crawl around looking for it or load game. I've checked his behavior in the companion wheel, and it's always set to Keep Distance. So I donno, really. SPAMLibArmy 08:28, July 16, 2011 (UTC)

He started doing this after this past patch. They still haven't fixed him right since they broke him two patches ago. The fix at NVNexus still works. --jimnms 10:43, July 16, 2011 (UTC)
Cool, thanks! I'll give it a look. (SPAMLibArmy 02:28, July 23, 2011 (UTC))

When i try to talk to boone to get this quest to investigate the kidnapping of his wife he just says are you with the ncr how do i get him to talk to me in dialogue

WEAPON[]

HOW do i get boone to hve a diffrenet gun I gave him the anti materal rifle full condition but he did not equip it (XBOX 360) (Cjbeattie 17:18, September 16, 2011 (UTC))

Did you give him ammo for it? --jimnms 04:26, September 17, 2011 (UTC)

Different system from fallout 3[]

I tried giving Boone a gun runners battle rifle because it is better than what he has and it uses the same ammo his weapon should use. I used this tactic with jerico in fallout 3, giving him the xulong chinise assault rifle and he used it. I noticed it took me adding the .308 ammo to Boone to equip the battle rifle, and when i took it away he went back to his rifle, whats the deal? 67.168.214.170 23:28, October 9, 2011 (UTC)

His rifle uses Magical Companion Ammo, so you need to supply him with bullets. Retroman000 23:09, October 11, 2011 (UTC)

Boone's Weapon Choice?[]

When I use Boone, I give him The GRA Medicine Stick. But recently I lost it (don't know how. it just vanished.) and now I need to give him a new weapon. I'm debating between the Brush Gun, GRA Pacienca(spelled right?), GRA Anti Material Rifle with all attachments, or the Bozar. I have over 100000 caps so ammo isnt a problem

Sorry 38.107.201.187 14:49, October 13, 2011 (UTC)

Which one should I choose? 38.107.201.187 17:16, October 13, 2011 (UTC)

one of the latter two, but, you should know, companions cannot benifet from modded weapons, it will only be the defalut model and effects for them.

Yet another missing Boone issue[]

I've tried everything that was mentioned throughout this page to locate Boone again and still haven't had any luck. No where to be find in Novac, Lucky 38 (which I've told to go originally), Vault 22, even Nipton.

I was trying to recruit Raul from Black Mountain. Boone was with him, and in order for me to recruit Raul I had to dismiss him. And so I did... I was traveling a bit with Raul and got his upgraded Full Maintenance perk and then dismissed him back to Shack, which I saw him there. I went back to Lucky 38 and no Boone... I went to Novac, search his room and his usual spotter part in the dinosaur at night and it's empty. I went back to Lucky 38, no sign. I did that terminal thing in the casino by the elevator to dismiss all companion. I was able to find Rex again at Freeside, but still can't find Boone. I've waited and sleep game time a bit, and even did some side quest and nothing.

I went back to Black Mountain and nothing exciting there. I did notice the radiation... would it be possible for Boone to die from that and never come back? I mean I didn't release him while I was at the road with the radiation, I did it while I was at the Prison where Raul was. It's not Hardcore mode or anything either... but damn, where is he in Vegas?? 88.109.17.46 13:01, October 23, 2011 (UTC)

REPLY : this sort of happened to me, i always use boones unless doing companion quest so usually he is with me, and when i was recruiting , i cant remember if it raul or lily, but boone never turned up at 38, but because i always use him i went back straight after recruiting boone, so i didnt do any work really, so i just reloaded a save and did it again, it worked though, dunno why?!?!? i suggest just reloading save if you can, i know sometimes we do save over a save but i have no other advice then, sorry ( o btw remember now it was raul ) : REPLY

Cant give him weapons[]

Ok well i say i cant give him weapons but he does take the machete gladius of me and uses it over the machete, which is his default, but ive tried to give him sniper rifle's and Anti-Material Rifle, i even tried the GOBI (even though i'd never let him keep it) but yah he wont equip them and only uses his default Boone's Hunting Rifle, i know its got t be good but not better than all three of them, any way to get him to use the Sniper's?

Did you make sure to supply him with the correct ammo type? --BearSquid--

Boone attacking NCR randomly...[]

Whenever I go somewhere with Boone as a companion and NCR Troopers are in the area he attacks them. It makes my reputation go down with NCR and whatever town I'm in, plus he gets upset with me blaming me for the NCR deaths (First as a warning but then he attacks another making it where he leaves...). I have no Idea what is going on with this... I have Rex as a companion also, but does that have effect on the matter? Any ideas? (This is on the PS3) ~~Akoalford~~

Companion even when Idolized in Legion[]

Boone won't talk before you do his Novac quest if you have "enough" reputation with the Legion, but after he has been (or is able to be?) hired he needs to give a warning before he talks about quitting. So as long as he gives his warning when you're Idolized, the second warning, the quit-talk -- for having even more Legion fame than the first warning -- can never trigger. (I guess NCR infamy is still a potential problem, though.) Positronic Spleen 18:00, October 30, 2011 (UTC)

BOONE ISNT TALKING TO ME[]

i want to talk to him and when i try he said "i have no respect for you".i want to part ways with him and i cant! i think it is because im soft hearted devil with NCR but any other solutions would be much appreciated please

Can't Start Side Quest[]

As the title says, I can't start Boone's side quest/mission "I Forgot to Remember to Forget" (or something like that) because I had already fulfilled the requirements to initiate it BEFORE I had Boone as a companion. I've killed Vulpes Inculta (+2 "points"), I've killed Caesar (+2 "points"), I've completed the mission "I've Put a Spell on You" and both killed the spy and disarmed the bomb (+2 "points"), I've rescued the 2 Powder Gangers [and then killed them (+1-2? points)], and finally I cleared out Cottonwood Cove (+2 "points"). All of this I did BEFORE having Boone has a companion, so apparently he doesn't trust me based on my past encounters, only on the ones he's present for. I've done both "Back In Your Own Backyard" and killed Silus (+3 "points") with Boone as a companion, but is there anything else I can do to get those 2 "points" to initiate the side quest for Boone ("I Forgot to Remember to Forget")? Any help would be appreciated. Also: I have Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition (if that helps at all).

Sorry, but I checked and don't see any other way of getting it, unless you're on the PC and can use the console. Paladin117 >>iff bored 03:03, April 1, 2012 (UTC)

Keeping Too Much Distance[]

So, Boone's been my companion since the beginning of the game. I'm in the middle of the "I Put A Spell on You" quest, and ever since I walked into Camp McCarran, he's been waiting until I'm several yards away before following me whenever I walk anyplace. I normally have him keep close, and telling him to keep his distance and to stay close again doesn't help at all. Occasionally, he'll just get stuck staring at someone and won't move at all. I'm on the Xbox360 and even resetting the game won't fix it.

Have you tried dismissing him and traveling back to Novac/Lucky 38 to pick him back up? Rappy 05:21, May 1, 2012 (UTC)

Boone taking my Weapons- Permanantly[]

Xbox360-

Right, just getting some caps with the conditioning glitch at Vendors and suddenly: Mick n Ralphs sells the Fat Man! I buy it and become heavily over- encumbered. So- I give Boone some of my weapons to carry, a while later in the game I go back to him to ask for my Mysterious Magnum, Fatman and Lucky back- Just to find he no longer has them in his inventory?! Anyone know about this? :-(

Ever heard of the casino glitch? If you go into Gomorrah, your companions' weapon inventory will be emptied. You can check Gomorrah for it. It's a very frustrating bug. --Skire (talk) 18:36, June 9, 2012 (UTC)
You've heard of the Sierra Madre Casino glitch. We all have, the legend, the curses. ... Sorry, my GECK mode is still on. :))) --Theodorico (talk) 05:34, February 14, 2013 (UTC)

False and or avoidable reputation with Boone.[]

It was posted

  • Quote"* After the player recruits Boone, if the player's NCR reputation goes below neutral (more infamy than fame), or if the player's Legion reputation goes above neutral, he will threaten to leave. If the reputation gets worse (lower for NCR or higher for Legion) he will leave permanently and cannot be re-recruited."END quote"

It is possible to recruit Boone even with an Idolized reputation with the Legion.

The key is to dress in NCR Ranger gear as you recruit Boone and promising him not to aid the Legion again.

  • Once recruited Boone is your follower and unless you dress like Legion or Kill NCR in his clear site he is none the wiser.

TF2 reference?[]

Could Boone's choice of melee weapon be a reference to the Sniper from Team Fortress 2? Both characters have very similar melee weapons: Boone uses a machete, and the Sniper uses a kukri. In addition, both characters are known for their sniping talent.

Stats for Boone's unique armor?[]

Could someone publish the stats of his weightless special armor so I can compare it to the Advanced Riot Gear I currently have him in, he personally seems to prefer the stuff I gave him.

Liam O'Brien[]

I don't mean to burst anyone's bubble, but these are most likely just placeholder lines. Liam is also a voice director, so it wouldn't be unheard of for him to give rough takes until they get re-recorded later. There are similar instances for the male Sole Survivor in Far Harbor. Sure, maybe, Liam was going to voice Boone at one point, but given how many other characters he voices, I find it unlikely. Either way, these are placeholders, and don't really suggest that he was supposed to voice Boone right from the get-go. --The Crimson Eagle (talk) 21:23, May 26, 2016 (UTC)
