Keeping Buddy[]

I haven't tried the option to keep him for myself yet. What is involved? Do I get to send him to a settlement like I can with companions and settlers? If I do that, can I send him to a different settlement afterwards? -- Yes and yes.

Yes, and I just found out that you can even clear the quest from your log with no ill side effects and still keep him by using the console command completequest DialogueGoodneighborRufus. Ulithium Dragon (talk) 12:27, December 16, 2015 (UTC)

The quest remains active so you can move him between settlements or if you decide to send him away to Hotel Rexford. Once sent to Rexford you cannot get him back. It is suggested to keep the quest open so that you have the option to switch settlements if desired. This article should be updated with this information.

He still moves around to different settlements fine for me. However, I just found out that he will no longer accept new recipes if done the way I said above, so I'd hold off on completing the quest with the console until after you both find all the recipes, and also use the "setstage" command mentioned in the article. I tried it this way, and I can move him around, he has all the recipes loaded, he no longer has dialog about being sold, and the quest is cleared out of my log. Oh dang - actually the "setstage" console command mentioned in the OP actually let me add recipes again on the character I'd used "completequest" on first, too! Ulithium Dragon (talk) 19:29, January 12, 2016 (UTC)

recipies[]

is there a console command way to check which holotapes he has already been given? Also why is there Gwinnett pale in the holdisk list, isn't it just what he produces by default? 01:13, February 25, 2016 (UTC)

Ice Cold Beer[]

Both this page and Ice cold beer state that Buddy can turn regular beer ice cold, but this isn't true as of the current patch at least. Although ice cold beer is in the game, it is not in the list of items Buddy can produce (see quest "DialogueDrinkingBuddy"). You can also test this in-game by giving him beer and waiting as long as you want. He will never make it cold. Probably one of those errors in the 1st edition of the game guide. -- DeJuanNOnley (talk) 19:58, July 23, 2016 (UTC)

Buddy Bug Xbox One[]

Adding onto the bug where Buddy will stay in the basement, it's happened to me too, Xbox One. AJMaster122 (talk) 03:50, November 15, 2016 (UTC)

Here are some details about buddy's brewing process[]

- He brew new bottles of Gwinnett beer every 36 hours and stores it in his inventory.
- If he has 40 bottles or more of any listed warm or cold drink (see list below) in his inventory, he stopps brewing.
- Initially Buddy brew only Gwinnett pale. If the player gives him more Gwinnett recipes, he switch between the variants.
- It was probably intended that only one beer per 36 hours would be brewed, but there's a Bug in the formula for calculating the amount:

  • In the present formula, the amount of brewed beer increases with the number of gamedays passed:
 BeerAmount(round off) = (currentDay - (LastBrewDay) / 1.5)
  • The correct formula should probably be:
 BeerAmount(round off) = ((currentDay - LastBrewDay) / 1.5)

- Buddy also convert beer and softdrinks (see list below) in his inventory into its "ice cold" variants within 12 hours.

Playing recipes in Pip-boy not required to give them to buddy[]

I was looking at the wiki, trying to prevent buddy from learning recipes as to only stack more pale ale for favorites menu. The wiki noted that you had to play the holotapes to given them to him, however when I finally got around to activating him in the tap house, interacting with him immediately initiated the dialogue and gave the recipes.
