Anyone else unable to find the scientist here? I heard a boom as I approached. There was a Laser Rifle on the table inside, but no sign of a body. Is it possible that the scientist lives and is sometimes killed by the Raiders?--DoubleGrande 10:45, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

All I found of the scientist was one piece of what appeared to be brain. They were definitely killed by something.
--AnyLameName 15:48, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Also, I found the drainage chamber empty; no ghoul in sight.--DoubleGrande 11:10, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Boy I'm full of talk on this page today: just wanted to point out without putting it on the page that the Mini Nuke is positioned just so it's his "Mini Nuke". --DoubleGrande 12:13, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

The wastelander with the Mini Nuke was a girl in my game...
--AnyLameName 15:48, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
I was talking about the Mini Nuke in the crotch of a skeleton in the bathtub. I don't think they did male/female skeletons, but the Mini Nuke on this one was right on the pelvis pointing up ;) --DoubleGrande 09:43, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
Yea, I knew which one you meant. My game didn't have a skeleton there; it had a regular corpse.
--AnyLameName 03:42, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
I'm still sure you're not looking at the same bathtub. Not the one in/near the house, but off way NW (past the wastelander body w/the note almost halfway to the SatCom array). I've seen it there in 3 games; it's not random and is always a skeleton w/Mini Nuke and Lead Pipe.--DoubleGrande 06:22, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
Way NE of that house, I think you mean, for anyone looking for the bathtub w/ Mini Nuke.
Coincidentally, I was just there and also found no body in/flying out of the truck. Heard the boom, though. The bed wasn't owned, so it makes sense that it was a scripted event. (A Wanderer) 04:38, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

As I ran up to the scientists truck the explosion hurled him out of the truck and off the edge of the overpass. HILARIOUS! and maybe why some have not found him.--7h1s 06:26, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Not quite. There's guts and stuff on the highway when he does spawn/blow up, and when he doesn't there's absolutely nothing to be found of him. I've seen it happen and not happen in different games, it's usually quite obvious if he's (been) there. ALSO, can someone give me a more precise location for the 'almost home...' corpse? I found both nukes, and I think I found the car+cart, but no body. EDIT: Scratch that, apparently he selectively spawns, too. PositronicSpleen 05:23, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

This place is a bug magnet[]

And I don't mean the crawling kind. I had to do this place a dozen times, because something always wants to freaking break. First, that guy with the 'Almost Home...' note doesn't seem to spawn unless that's the first place I go. Second, the scientist spawns only half the time. Then, on two consecutive attempts, the game freezes trying to loot a mirelurk. But that's not all, using Paralyzing Palm on the Mirelurks has a 50% chance of making them invulnerable while they're paralyzed! Then the corpse in the tub in the house didn't spawn one of the times; no big deal, but it's really adding up. Then, by the billboard north of that broken shack to the NE of the tower itself, I had regulators spawn where one of them was unlootable! Then I attack the raiders' car camp thing, and one of the bodies just disappeared. Then the random encounter at the top spawns two feet behind me, as in, "I turned around, and suddenly a refrigerator manifest itself from nowhere". PositronicSpleen 23:19, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Well, I had the explosion, which I clearly saw, along with cans and other stuff flying out of the truck. But no scientist so there really must be some sort of glitch with it.Snake2410 00:52, November 22, 2009 (UTC)

My solution is, when you approaching to truck look up little higher on the right side of the truck, then you should see floating body of scientist in air, sometimes he land near truck, often he land below bridge.

To get NPCs (Scientist and Almost Home Wastlelander) using PC (console)[]

Here's one solution, using the player.placeatme command and for the Almost Home... wastelander the baseID is 6554f and for the scientist its cc26c, note that they'll spawn as hostiles but theyll have the holotape and big book of science respectively.

  • On a side note, maybe adding a mod in the GECK that allows them to respawn will work but I would consider that cheating regarding the scientist unless of course you dont decide to take the book.
But using the console to make NPC's appear in order to retrieve the special goodies they have isn't cheating? Hmm, just my two cents.--Kingclyde 16:53, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Firelance[]

While I was walking around here, I heard a loud exploion and then and APC fell right in front of me. I recommend having Dogmeat with you while around here and have him search for weapons if you hear a loud explosion. If you don't have him with you, set a map marker, make sure you have the nearest location discovered, get Dogmeat, fast travel back, and GET THAT FIRELANCE!!!

No ghouls here[]

The first paragraph says "It is home to some Ghouls. ". I've been here on half a dozen or so playthroughs now and have never seen a ghoul, either near the tower or in the drainage chamber. I think someone might have gotten wastelander ghouls from the random encounter that happens at the tower and didn't realize they aren't always there. 97.73.64.151 22:02, May 14, 2010 (UTC)

Morse code.[]

Anyone know what the more code that is being broadcasted means? Would be interesting to know 16:18, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

Pre-war book[]

Did anyone else find a pre-war book (Green) in the drainage chamber? I see that in the notable loot everywhere, so I guess it should be added here too. --81.71.129.75 12:48, September 11, 2011 (UTC)

Notable Loot That Doesn't Belong[]

This is one of several pages where I've noticed notable loot listed from surrounding unmarked locations which also appears on those location pages as well. Should we really be listing loot multiple times in this way? Or is it acceptable because links to the unmarked locations are included? -- DeJuanNOnley (talk) 11:55, December 28, 2017 (UTC)
