Purpose of targeting the brain?

Bloatflies are unique in that their brain can be directly targeted in V.A.T.S. For some reason, this does quite a bit less damage than a shot to the head. What is the purpose, if any, of targeting the brain? Does it offer special effects if you cripple it? Even so, it is pretty pointless considering how difficult the brain is to hit and how easy Bloatflies are to kill.--Mehbah 23:51, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Shooting the Brain in VATS causes the Bloatfly to Become Frenzied. This can be fun if up against a swarm of bloatflies :) Also has anybody ever crept up on a bloatfly when thier not buzzing about? its weird to see them crawling along the floor in such a realistic way! I have observed that bloatflies can be targeted in the brain AND the stinger. AreYouGoingToEatThatNuke? 20:04, January 15, 2010 (UTC)

well they have low HP so i dont se wry it is helping to aim for the brain Jonas1412jensen

I just let them get within range (close enough that they stop and get ready to shoot an egg) and then I just target their body with a hunting rifle if I have plenty of ammo. I dont even need to look around cause that easily masacres 3-4 of them in 1 VATS --Chris-the-killer 04:03, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

Miniature Bloatflies

Anyone else notice that if you look closeley at the flies seen around the rotting bramin corpses in new vegas, they are actually significantly smaller bloatflies that lack the ability to attack you.Superinsomniac 05:20, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

Actual Power

"Bloatflies are the weakest enemies in the game, on par with radroaches."" How does a bloatfly equal a radroach? The latter one has 3 times less health, has a weaker attack, cannot shoot and has a terrible perception. i found some bloatflys in pointlookout near dove delta fighting along side mirelurks
