I'd just redirect to United States Armed Forces. // Porter21 U | T 22:43, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

The Article now is a place holder until I can get more detail on Strike Teams, Weapons and Armor, Etc. And the USAF article really needs to be cleaned up. Just like I did the [[Enclave Soldier]] and Paladin Articles. Feel free to add information M10 101 22:48, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Do American Launchers carry Fat Mans or do just Soldiers?

Neither of these carry Fat Mans, only power armored soldiers do as far as I can see in the GECK. // Porter21 U | T 15:53, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

But in the Simulator, when the War correspondent takes the photo, one of the troops has a fatman. My Cursor won't read over him so I can't find out what he is. I know one is an Inferno, and the other is a soldier, but my cursor won't read over him. M10 101 19:06, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Well, all NPCs in the simulation which are called "American Soldier" use the American soldier template and inventory, the latter consisting of Winterized Combat Armor, Winterized Combat Helmet and Assault Rifle. The only possibility I could think of is that the weapons for the photo are added by script somehow. However, I think we shouldn't consider it typical armament for those NPC types. // Porter21 U | T 19:18, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

I know, and I changed it, and if you don't mind, I also removed Chinese Assault Rifles from Powered Armored Soldiers, since I haven't seen one with one. M10 101 19:20, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

There are 2 Power Armored Soldiers during the End Battle in the Chinese Compound who carry it if your char is level 6 or higher :-) Their base id is 1002985 if you want to check. // Porter21 U | T 19:27, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Kindy of funny that they would use Chinese weapons, given the Profane Anti-Communist swear words they shout out. M10 101 19:30, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Yeah it is, it's caused by them being based on a Brotherhood Outcast template. // Porter21 U | T 19:31, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
That's what happens when do that I guess, but ten to one Bethseda won't do any thing 'bout it. Kinda a funny you know. "Take that you Red MF" with a communist weapon. M10 101 19:33, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
I guess they didn't check (or care) which actual weapon a leveled Assault rifle results in ;-) // Porter21 U | T 19:35, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
My guess is that these soldiers are probably supposed to represent someone that either ran out of ammo or lost their main weapon at some point and just picked up the nearest weapon. --MadDawg2552 19:02, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

No, just laziness on Bethseda's part. However, with GECK I can replace the Chinese Rifle on him with whatever I like (Gatling Laser anyone?) M10 101 19:03, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Stolen items' quality?[]

If you steal the Fat Man/Minigun/Flamer/etc., do those have super-quality like the quartermaster items?

Ah, it was explained in the middle of a big mess of notes in the OP:A article. But it doesn't mention miniguns or flamers, so I presume those are good? It sounds like a real deal, it might almost make them viable main weapons in the main game. Oh, and I almost forgot, is it even possible to snatch a laser rifle? I only see them at the very end, and I can never pickpocket them for some reason (not even the gauss knockdown trick works).

My character is called Ralph and I am basically Awesome with Energy Weapons and most things except Small Guns, but I killed ALL American Troops Except the Quartermaster and that DOAB (daughter of a bitch) Adami with an Assault Rifle, including the T51B Units!

Power Armored Soldiers - ammo problems[]

Power Armored Soldiers don't have enough 5mm ammo, they run out of ammo and start attacking the Chinese using HtH attacks (I have a mod running that makes the Chinese drop their weapons when they die, so in my case the Americans pick up the chinese rifles when they run out of minigun ammo). This is weird, cause usually NPCs don't use up ammo, only the player does. They've got 300 rounds, that's not enough. If you know how to use GECK, consider increasing the amount of their 5mm ammo, I set it to 3000 rounds, should be enough for them, lol.

Also, do NOT steal their fatmans! They need them to blow up the gate to the Chinese HQ if I read the script correctly, and you can't use the fatman anyway, cause the fatman ammo is only added to their inventory at the appropriate moment and there's no fatman ammo anywhere else in the sim. If they don't blow up the gate, you will have to do it (Gauss works fine).

The power armor soldiers have got 25 microfusion cells each, you can steal it, then you have enough gauss ammo for the rest of the mission, but then the soldiers won't be able to use their gauss rifles that are added to their inventory when the player hits a specific trigger. Ah well, it's up to you. If you increase the amount of their 5mm ammo, they should still be able to use their miniguns. WRFan 22:44, November 29, 2009 (UTC)

Powered Armored Soldiers-Two Questions[]

When I was attacking the pulse field and had allowed the Power Armored Soldiers to kill the Chinese for me, I could have sworn that I heard a muffled (like through a power helmet) female voice. Also, I did not encounter a single female American soldier. Oddity or result of Outcast Template? Also, I have a question about a Power Armored Soldier I found. When I tried talking to this soldier, I got an effect in my vision like I was moving through the Simulation or being pulled out of it. The soldier offered no response to my talking, and ended the conversation. The Soldier was armed with a Flamer.--Hollow Points 00:42, December 16, 2009 (UTC)Hollow Points

The answer to the female part is that the US Military doesn't allow females to have a combat job. And when I was playing through it I never saw a flamer. I'm assuming it has to do with my level(s). The first 2 times I was level 22. The second 2 times I was around level 6. Where was this Power Armored Soldier wielding a flamer good sir or madam? Dabears17x-- I came across multiple female US......

Warning; Pulse Field Removal of weapons glitch.[]

If you've played OA, and actually paid attention, then you know once you get to the pulse field, there is a scripted event of a helmetless T51-b unit walking into the field, and being trapped within. But if you talk to him while he is being schocked, all of your requisitioned items dissapear, save for an r91-assault rifle, and a trenh knife, plsu about 40-60 ammo for the rifle. I'm just posting this as a warning, as I lost all of the items I had spent the better part of three hours acquiring. Kale Nekona 01:01, March 13, 2010 (UTC)

Grenadier type?[]

Isn't there a Grenadier type of soldier that you can request as a squad member in Operation Anchorage? 71.106.237.186 06:39, February 25, 2012 (UTC)
