The alien captain had 157, is that all there is in the entire game? or is there more anywhere? has anyone ever found any more ever?

~Much like FO3, there was a very limited amount of Ammo for the Alien Blaster until the Zeta DLC came out and you could get a lot more. I'm hoping the same will be said for FO:NV
I usually wouldn't do this for most weapons but for this one I will make an exception. Try the following: "The Hotkey Ammo Glitch. Find a type of ammo you'd like to use and equip a weapon that uses that type of ammo. After equipping the weapon hold down the button to hotkey an item, move left, highlight the ammo you'd like and hotkey it like normal, release the hotkey button then go equip a different weapon. After backing out of the Pip-Boy menu hit whatever button you've hotkeyed the ammo too and miraculously you can use that ammo despite not having the right weapon equipped. This works for any type of ammo on any type of weapon." This will allow you to use any ammo with any gun if done correctly but I do not know if it will work on every version. I can guarantee it will work on the xbox version with all the latest patched but idk about other platforms. -Anon

- the only other similar "earthly weapon" i've seen is Euclid's C-Finder, and yes, you can use it to repair the alien blaster if you have the Jury Rigging perk. ~~~kev~~~

The Captain may not always drop the Alien Blaster, you will have to reload a saved game and kill him until it drops. This happened on the PC & Xbox 360... probably same for PS3.
0% chance in vats Edit
I just acquired the Alien Blaster, I have 100 Energy Weapons skill... and I have ZERO chance to hit anyone anywhere at any distance! This only happens with the Alien Blaster, and I don't have any mods. Any possible solution? --44 Magnum 18:23, November 11, 2010 (UTC)

How do you get infinite ammo?Edit
Someone mentionned a way to get infinite ammo for the Alien blaster (Fallout: New Vegas) using some kind of glitch. All I seem to find are ways to get infinite 5.56mm and archimedesII bullets/charges. Could someone tell me how to duplicate the alien cells on the ps3 and xbox please, and perhaps include it in this post. Thanks a lot in advance.
Well it's not really a glitch but it you put the Alien Blaster and 1 round of ammo on a dead body and let a hostile human pick it up, the AI will create more rounds which can be looted after you kill that hostile. Have fun doing that, though, while under fire from an unstoppable death ray. I recommend doing this in the vicinity of Vault 3 where you can chain this effect with about a dozen fiends and really rack up a whole lot of power cells.Kara MacNamara 08:41, July 26, 2011 (UTC)

Crit Multiplier ≠ 100% Edit
It took me multiple shots to take out most Deathclaws using this weapon, and did not give me a "Critical Hit" message on every shot. When I did get a crit, I tended to one-shot those Deathclaws. Leads me to question whether the crit multiplier really is 100% still as it was in FO3. If it is, then perhaps it's just not consistently giving Critical Hit messages. Played on Xbox 360 with natural crit chance of 17 (7 Luck, First Recon Beret, True Police Stories).
I don't recall ever seeing a crit hit message, but I don't really pay attention to those things. But regular deathclaws died in 2 shots for me, one if hit in the head. My luck was, I think, 4. --Pongsifu 02:42, November 21, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah nah, it's not 100% more like 80%. I was hitting a Legionary Assassin and he died after 4 shots. Some of the shots wen tright through him, so yeah it's not 100% critical chance. --Felix Brehh 19:59, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
Energy Weapon Users Edit
What would be better for an Energy Weapons user? THe YCS/186 or the Alien Weapon? Seems to me like the Alien Weapon is much stronger, but i like the Scope and long range for the YCS/186. Feedback is appreciated. Nosferus 05:43, November 26, 2010 (UTC)
a non energy weapon user like my self still can get good results using this weapon because of its raw power however the higher your energy weapons skill will determine accuracy and overall damage but since i raely use it and when i do its at close range so its hard to missuse. quite frankly if your an energy weapons user the laser RWC is accually a really good choice of weapon due to its accuracy with a high energy weapon skill and the fact the ammo is fairly common and can even be manufactured by the player at a reloading bench. the YCS/186 gauss rifle is only a single shot weapon and should be an energy user sniper rifle but can be used effectively at mid range and at close if it come to that but is far better at range. simmilar to the laser RWC ammo is more common then alien power cells so either option is more acceptable for energy weapon users. if you can afford to use the rare alien blaster and its power cell do so but keep in mind onece its used up its ammo thats about it, they are glitches to get more but the are costly to time and can have unforseen consequences. My personal stand point is the alien blaster is worth collecting for the fact that you can say "yeah i got it" but i wouldent bother useing it simply because ammo is to the best of my knowledge immpossibe to actually find after you first get it, the only possible use that i can think of would be to use it as a quick way to deal with deathclaws until you get better gear and maybe during the final mission to fight at hoover damm and against legate lanius who has the highest hit points of any NPC in the game (over 900). - You can use the YCS through the whole game as a main weapon and keep purchasing as much ammo as you want, and with high enough energy weapons skill and high critical chances and/or high sneak for stealth attacks, the YCS becomes a death cannon. The alien blaster has a very limited amount of ammo so its more likely a weapon to get out of the OHSHIT situations or, to run around blasting stuff during the final battle at hoover dam.

The Sink Auto-Doc at Old world blues allows yo u to change perks. I already had the YCS gauss rifle, then I changed to Wild Wasteland trait. Can I still get this gun from there?

HOW TO GET THE BLASTER THE SAME DAY AS YOU LEAVE DOC MITCHELL Edit
ALIEN BLASTER FANATICS. There is only one in FALLOUT NEW VEGAS so choose the WILD WASTERLAND TRAIT if you want one. As you have only just recovered from an operation and are weak this route will allow you to bypass all the foe much stronger than you and get the coveted ALIEN BLASTER. If you are an impatient collector you can get your hands on it the same day you leave Doc Mitchell with the 9mm pistol he gives you as you leave..To do this you will just run and run,avoid everyone and fight no one, except the three Aliens and be back in Good Springs in time for your evening meal at 8.30pm. To do this leave Doc Mitchell after he gives you your gear at the door at 8.00am and run East towards the TALL CROSS on the horizon,Yangtse Memorial,pass it on the LHS at 8.42 and keep tight to the left,heading East to avoid Rad Scorpion until you are standing on the railway line at 9.23am.Turn left heading NE and run along the line keeping the red box car on your left to avoid an unnecessary discussion and run high up the banking to avoid attracting Deathclaws passing the LUCKY 38 SIGN on your left, 9.34am.Keep running NE keeping a railway halt gantry on your left, 9.50am ,past a level crossing on your left,9.50am, then head N up a bank onto a ledge path to gain height from DeathClaws passing a RED GOMMORAH SIGN 10.05 just below on your left . Keep as tight to the top of the bank on your right as possible.That way you will stay high and escape Deathclaw attraction. Still heading North emerge on the far side of the rocks and clear of the Deathclaws 10.51am carry on N towards a tall tower ,the Lucky 38 and a large brick built building with the taller walls of CampMcCarran, behind .Keep heading north close against the SE wall of Camp McCarran to avoid raiders to the West. To obtain more AMMO shoot any enemy until they are nearly dead,drop you ALIEN BLASTER and ONE CELL of AMMO on the floor. Wait until they pick it up and VAT them in the head from close range the moment they raise the BLASTER in their hands. While they are engaged in holtering their own weapon and equiping the BLASTER and single ammo CELL they are totally defenceless and this allows you to move cloase for a 95% head shot after which, when dead,you can collect between 1 and 10 Alien cells at random from their body due to the random nature of the AI ammo equipper in the software. Arm yourself with a good conditon heavy caliber pistol.45 etc and run in circles waiting for a THUG to arm himself with your dropped CELL and BLASTER. SAVE. Once he aims the BLASTER at you VAT him in the head, run to his dead body and retrieve the BLASTER and the ALIEN AMMO CELL. Check your inventory to see by how many cells you ALIEN AMMO has increased.If less than 6 go back and reload and continue until your ALIEN CELL inventory has risen by between 7 and 10.If satisfied with the increase which can range between 0 and 10 SAVE. Chased by only 3 thugs now repeat the dropped BLASTER and CELL and SAVE until you have worked your way through all 4 THUGS. You should in this manner incease you ALIEN CELL COUNT by up to 40 in a matter of a few minutes.You will or course take damage and spend cash on wear and tear to your weapon and ammo but it is well worth it if your are a collector of ALIEN AMMO CELLS and GOOD FUN dealing with the 4 THUGS as well! ED-E is one of my favorite companions. He never speaks out, at high levels he doesn't kill steal, and Lonesome Road just about made him the best thing in the wastes, but I always had one problem: he kept losing my stuff! In three different games I lost the Alien Blaster, because I didn't know not to put it in his inventory. I think he also stole my AER14, because that disappears as well.
